Hi, my name is James Whitless. A year ago, in 1873. I was abourd the SS. Atlantic as it was headed to New York on its 19'th Voyage. It hit rocks on the coste of Nova Scotia. I was amoung the few survivors of the sinking, taking 535, mostly women and children, down with her at 3:20 a.m., This is my story. It was June 31st, 1873. I got abourd the SS.Atlantic. I was imagrating to America with my friends. The ship had one Funnel and 4 sailing masts, just in case we ran out of coal. I got in the ship and my cabin was small but cozy. one of my friends, Castro fotnell was across from my cadin. Shortly after, The Atlantic, departed. Me and my friends, Lio, Castro ,and Andrew whent up on deck and said our good bies to Liverpool and we were off to America. a little later we found our selves at the lounge. we played a few hands of cards and relaxed. It was getting late so we decided to go for some food. we had some chicken and rice with green beans. The he rooms where lit with lanterns. Electricity was not invented for passenger use yet. I was tired but i wanted to go for a book in the reading room. I split with my friends and said goodnight. I got a Book and read for a bit and left for bed.
