As we sat around the small campfire I watched Aaron slowly turn the deer meat. Its tantalizing smell rose into the air and straight into my nose causing me to drool from the smell.
"Jill." Aaron's rough voice arose, "I want to create a family with you, but I don't know how to tell you....babies don't come from storks." He looked me dead in the eyes with an expression that told me how much he thought I was stupid at this moment.
Tilting my head in a questioning way he sighed said shook his head, "Never mind silly let's eat."
Passing a bowl with some deer meat in it I and Aaron gobbled up some of it and set the rest aside for later.
Gathering my things I headed to our small 'nest' in the back and laid out the fur blanket to sleep upon. While waiting for Aaron I finished up the last bit of stitching I had left in on the new pair of clothes I made for him. Upon hearing his footsteps I hid them underneath my pile of clothes in the far corner.
"You ready for bed already?" He teased as he crawled next to me while drawing me into a dip embrace, kissing me deeply onto the side of my temple, "I had thought you'd want to chat with me about how my day was silly?"
"OH! How was your day my love?" glancing at him I smiled deeply while returning the kiss.
"It went well hence the deer from earlier but I noticed that we are getting low on some herbs and spices so I was wondering if we could go out together tomorrow. Kind of like a date, just you and me." He whispered into my ear while caressing my hair.
I giggled and snuggled up to him, "That would be most delightful."
Sleep soon took us both yet just like that it ran away from us.
"HELP!" A scream tore threw the night, the sound of a young woman's cry and the shouting of men jolted us awake.
Clutching onto Aaron's arm I pleadingly look at him, "We have to go and help, Aaron, please! Just like what you did with me! Please let's go save her!"
"I'll go but you are staying here!"
"No, I'm going with you!"
"No your going to stay Jill!"
"Bu-"
"NO! I CAN'T lose YOU!"
Trembling I nodded, "Okay I'll stay."
Heaving a heavy sigh he let go of me and raced out the entrance. The screaming and shouting still going on but also where getting unsettling closer. Unable to sit still I bolted out and towards the sound of the screaming, and in the middle, I saw Aaron practically slaughtering every man insight. Off to the side, I saw a young girl laying down and curled up into herself. While getting closer to her I noticed that her breathing was extremely shallow. Checking her pulse I could feel a faint heartbeat, but barely. I knew she wasn't going to make it no matter the amount of medicine I used or the amount of time I took to heal her. I knew she was on death's door. Noticing a bundle of cloth that was held tightly in her embrace I slowly moved the in the side and inside was a sleeping baby, completely unaware of what was going on.
Picking it up I noticed that the sounds of screaming were gone and a shadow loomed above me, "Aaron it's a baby."
"I thought I told you to stay at home! I thought I told you to stay put! WHY DIDN'T YOU LISTEN TO ME!" He growled out in anger.
I knew he was mad and really upset, I'm he has every right to be but right knows so was I, "Why can't you trust me? I didn't get hurt, I didn't get in your way, and why can't I come when I WORRY ABOUT YOU TOO!?" I cried out while sobbing heavily.
Ignoring him I turned my attention back to the young girl and whispered a soft prayer for her, got up and headed straight home. Ignoring his calls and pleads because at this moment I was far too angry and upset to deal with him.
When reaching home I carried the still sleeping baby the bed and curled up with him, once again entering the realm of sleep.
