Chapter 12 - Two Mysterious Figures.

After appearing back in the kingdom, Shandock left to report how the raid went to the higher ups after dismissing them.

"Damn! That was fun", Jace exclaimed excitedly.

Playing a game through a screen was exciting enough but fighting in person was just another thing. The adrenaline, the first person action. He was so excited.

"Yeah it was.... I even feel stronger", Guila said clutching her fist.

"That's how it works, you gain experience for every kill and level up, increasing your power", Jace explained.

"Oh and my constitution activated.. I got an innate skill!!", he added almost squealing.

"me too", Guila said staring into space. She was probably checking her status. She hadn't noticed earlier and had probably missed the notification.

"You guys for real?..", Xavier was a bit surprised.

"Yes... would have loved to test it out but the cool down is 24 hours. I rather not waste it.", Jace sighed.

Xavier agreed. It would be quite stupid to use it now.

"So is that the only innate skill?", Xavier asked a bit disappointed that the constitution granted only one skill.

"For now... The system says the next will be gained at level 100.", Jace said frowning. Level 100 was still pretty far.

Xavier still felt the constitution was a bit overhyped but the truth is he was actually underestimating the strength of an innate skill. Innate skills were unique to their constitutions but were all powerful. The stronger you get, the better and stronger the innate skill get. This was one of the little information this world had gotten from the experience with the previous Marshals. They were forces that once ruled Ozion with just their powers.

The three talked about other things before Guila had to seperate from them for her hall.

The rest of the day was spent idly by Xavier as nothing eventful occurred after. After dinner, he slept till the next morning.

Just like usual, he pulled himself from bed to get ready for the early morning training. He and Jace met up with Guila and they left for the training ground.

A wall with several people clustered around it caught their interest. Grabbing the closest person, Jace asked,

"Yo! What's going on?"

"The kingdom is organizing a combat tournament a week from now and only contestants above level 10 and below level 20 would be able to participate.", the man answered.

Jace thanked the man and turned to his friends, there was a long smile on his lips. It was a smile Xavier knew quite well. Jace would always smile that way whenever he wanted something.

"How are you sure we can pass the requirement to participate?", Xavier said with his hands folded across his chest. He could already tell Jace wanted to participate.

"You will never know until you try", Jace shrugged.

"Where do we register?", Guila butted in. One thing she enjoyed the most were competitions. Being the fifth child of her parents, she had grown accustomed to fighting with her siblings for whatever she wanted.

Jace raised a finger up before dashing to the wall to join the still increasing cluster of people.

After few minutes, he came back panting.

"Those guys are like a horde of zombies.... but.... I got the date and where to take the qualification exam.. I even got a glimpse at the rewards.", he chuckled feeling proud of himself.

"What are the rewards dumb dumb", Guila's interest was now peaked.

"Well, the top 10 will be given a low class experience potion and a leather armour for both mages and soldiers. The 3rd is given an extra mid-class exp potion with a sword skill book or magic skill book, the 2nd is given an extra mid-class exp potion with a skill book and a C-rank sword or staff and the 1st is given the same as the second but with an addition...", Jace paused and smirked.

"A magic beast to bind with", he continued with a smirk.

Xavier raised an eyebrow before asking "What does that mean?"

Jace shook his head and shrugged causing Xavier and Guila to roll their eyes simultaneously. He obviously didn't know. He just felt it was going to be cool.

Jace led the way to where they were going to take the qualifications exam. It was a tall building and at the front, in metal, some words were engraved.

"Xerosa Administration."

With Jace leading, the three walked inside. The hall was crowded with a lot of people and it took the trio much effort to get to the reception counter.

"Hi! we would like to take the qualification exam for the tournament.", Jace said to the woman at the counter.

The fat red haired woman looked coldly at the three of them. It was obvious she was looking down on them because they were still teenagers.

"This is not a place for kids... now shuu", she said frankly.

Xavier frowned. He then went ahead to use observation skill on her.

Name: Milda Margaret

Race: Human

Age: 34

Level: 2

Hp: 60/60

Att: 05-08

Def: 05

speed: 03

Remark: A low class clerk.

The woman was just a clerk and had a very low level like every other civilian. Moreover, a low class meant she wasn't a noble. She probably lived in 'the slum' like other commoners.

Xavier strolled forward and rested on the counter Jace whom was still trying to convince the middle-aged lady.

"Milda Margaret, 34 years old and also a low-class clerk", Xavier smirked.

The woman's eyes widened before she quickly adjusted.

"Forgive me, pull a number and wait for your turn", she coughed feeling awkward.

With a satisfied smile plastered on their face, they pulled a number and went to wait for their turn.

In the heart of a very busy street, two mysterious figures could be seen walking through the crowd of people. Although these people seemed to be odd, nobody appeared to be paying them attention.

The two wore black cloaks that did a perfect job of covering their body only exposing their shoes, a hand knitted samurai hat sat on their heads and covered their faces making them look more mysterious.

"Akila, how long can your illusion technique last?", one of the figures asked. He was short, mostly because he had a bent back, making him look like a frail old man but his voice sounded smooth instead.

"Ten days... but once seen through, it gets dispelled", Akila answered.

Although the cloak still covered his body, one could still tell he was a very lanky person.

The bent man didn't say anything but continued walking. They walked the streets of district D, also known as the slum, for hours unhindered till they got close to district C's gate.

"We will be entering the town of the nobles now, there is a high probability we might be found out. Be on guard.", the bent man warned.

Akila nodded and with a swing of his hand, gentle ripples moved through the atmosphere.

"I have modified the illusion. The only way to enter the noble city is to be nobles. Now to everybody that this illusion affects, they see us as nobles", Akila said calmly.

The bent man only nodded before continuing forward. Soon, they got to district C's gate.

Several guards stood in their positions as they watched fervently the people going through the gates.

Akila used observation skill on them to view their information.

"It's fine, they are not strong enough to see through my illusion.", he said casually.

The two walked through the gates freely, the guards did not even spare them a glance.

"Let's find a place to stay for the night.... I'm starving. Moreover, it is unadvisable to rush an abduction mission", the bent man smiled.
