The tragedy happens in the banquet that night has spread and they now know that the adopted child of the Blade family is not an ordinary child. He actually has a strong magic power. All the upper-class society believe that the Blade family is preparing for the Throne War that will be held five years later. It is the time to pick the supreme ruler for the vampire. The vampires nowadays has thirteen big country and twenty small country. That makes the vampire has thirty-three royal families. Every hundred years they will choose one from this thirty-three royals as the supreme ruler to rule the vampire continent for a hundred years.
To appoint the ruler they will arrange a Throne War but it only consists of five thousand soldiers for each country. So within a hundred years, all the royal family will find and recruit talented people. Duke Blade household is one of the trusted people by their King Edward Alfonso, the king of Paititi. It is natural for Duke Blade to search for talented people for his majesty even if he has to adopt the child. Thinking that they already know the reason for the stupid adoption, they finally cool down.
Mikayla is sitting in form two-class, Two C class. He has started attending school for two months now but because of the banquet incident, the students did not dare to bully him. So, his debut in the middle school run smoothly.
"Hey! It is recess now, let's go and grab supper," said Zuri, a beautiful young ghoul. He sits beside Mikayla in the class so they become buddies immediately. This school is a mixed school where human, vampire and other races like ghoul and werewolf sit and learn together. There are also a private school that consist only vampires but those school usually caters to the upper-class vampires.
Mikayla follows Zuri to the canteen. "The usual smoky flesh and a glass of blood," said Zuri.
Mikayla orders an egg sandwich and orange juice. They search for empty seats and then eat supper.
"Mikayla, ready for your first run next week?" asked Zuri.
"I think that I'm ready. Probably," said Mikayla. He continues to eat his supper.
Every month on the full moon there will be hunting session for the young vampires. The prey is a mixture of servants and student of the school. The vampire will train on their hunting skills and sharpen their instinct while the other student can learn how to avoid enemies and test their battle skills.
The vampire starts to let their children hunting starting from the age of nine. At the age of nine children will start the hunt in their primary school and can only hunt dummy prey. It is not realistic but able to hone their skill a bit. Entering middle school they are able to hunt real prey inside the school. At the age of sixteen, they able to hunt in the specifically designed neighbourhood and hunt the civilians. Once a month civilians at the age of eighteen and above will be selected to enter the hunt. If they are not being caught their family will get rewards and if they are getting caught they just lose some blood and get medical leaves for two days. Civilians are protected by law and cannot be killed during the hunt. Only servants can be killed during the hunt. Magicians are considered as a bonus for the vampires.
Zuri eats with relish his smoky flesh. "You know being bitten is no fun. Its sting," said Zuri.
"You have been bitten before? I thought that we only need to run and have some battle if we meet with each other?" asked Mikayla almost choking his food.
"It is just a basic rule. If we lose sometimes there are vampires that demand our blood. They just want to have a taste. No big deal. Sometimes I also ask for a bite but the vampire flesh is not that delicious as the human," said Zuri. He already finishes his supper. "Um! I once eat werewolf flesh, "blegh" not delicious."
"Really. Wait! you would not ask for my flesh to aren't you," asked Mikayla while hugging his body.
Zuri scrutinizes Mikayla up and down. "Maaaayyybe," said Zuri in a playful tone.
Seeing that Mikayla has a goosebump. "My flesh is not delicious," shaking his head furiously.
"Heheheh, I'm just kidding," said Zuri. They begin to walk to the classroom because the recess is almost over.
The clock is showing at one o'clock in the morning. They finally finish the general studies. At two o'clock in the morning, they will continue with magic studies until five o'clock in the morning.
"Why we have to learn so many things? My head gonna explode," said Ginger. She is a half-vampire. Her mother is a ghoul while her father is a vampire. She leans toward drinking blood than eating meat and have the ability to eat certain human food.
"Hey! My favourite Ginger. Help us during this magic lab okay," said Zuri winking at her.
"Of course, if I let you two alone, our school will be history because of the disaster you made," said Ginger.
Magic studies divided into two. That is basic knowledge where any kind of race able to learn the magic as long as they are born with magic. The second one is specialised magic that involves the unique magic of certain races or based on the individual.
Mikayla and Zuri are buddies not because they sit near each other but also how horrible their basic magic. They both are good in specialised magic so when they are doing an experiment for magic spells it always goes beyond their imagination and "BOOM". Ginger is the best in basic magic but terrible in specialized magic. She is not strong enough as a vampire or as a ghoul. She inherited a little bit of her mother and father.
"Okay! everyone, three in one group," said Teacher Sam. " Today we will learn about the states of water. As you can see the water has three states that are solids, liquids and gases. Those specialized with water element pay extra attention to this class. It will help you to gain enlightenment to a higher level."
Everyone start to form their own group and Mikayla with his friends. With the help of Ginger, Mikayla and Zuri did not explode anything in the lab. Zuri and Mikayla were unable to control their magic power properly. Sometimes Mikayla has to add a certain rhythm to increase the success rate of a spell.
At six-thirty o'clock in the morning Mikayla already on his bed preparing to sleep. He is barely able to make sure that he is not sleeping in the class. Usually, at four o'clock in the morning, he will be very sleepy and unable to opens his eyes.
Mikayla stares at the window near the balcony of his room but he sees nothing. He gets down from his bed and slowly approaches the window. He chants a spell "wind" and a gust of wind makes all the curtain in the room to flutter. Mikayla stretches out his arm and perform a slashing movement and cut the air but it touches nothing.
"Is there someone here? I can feel your presence," said Mikayla. He is unable to see this person probably because that person is stronger than him. There is no response, it looks like Mikayla is talking to himself.
"Hey! It is not fun. Who are you?" shouts Mikayla.
"What is wrong young master?" asked Rinne.
"Someone is here but I unable to see him," said Mikayla. He points his hand towards the window.
Rinne walks towards the window but he unable to see anybody else or feels any presence. He didn't doubt Mikayla.
"Are you able to sense the intruder somewhere else young mass...?" Rinne turns around and he sees Mikayla is sleeping on the bed but there is a woman beside him. The woman tucks the blanket on Mikayla with careful. The woman ignores Rinne as if he is just air. Rinne is unable to move, he able to feel the warning from that woman. If he moves or talks he will be killed.
Rinne did not know when the woman leaves the room but before leaving she warns him to not tell anyone about this. Rinne looks at his pocket watch and shocked to see that it is already nine o'clock in the morning. He has been standing there in trance for about three hours. He gets out of the room and he sees Jason standing in front of the room.
"Rinne, Master Alaric wants to see you," said Jason with a poker face.
From one shock to another, Rinne follows Jason to the study room. He wonders what did master Alaric want with him.
"Rinne you will be dismissed from attending Mikayla," said Alaric as soon as Rinne enters the room.
"Master, why! Did I do any mistake?" asked Rinne. He is baffled, this morning he is almost being killed by an unknown vampire and before he manages to report about the intruders he already being dismissed.
"You will receive special training for a while. Jason will be your replacement," said Alaric.
"Training? What training?" asked Rinne.
You will know after this. Pack up your stuff, you will directly transport to the training ground at noon," said Alaric.
Jason gives signal Rinne using his eyes to get out of the room.
"Jason, did you know what actually happens?" asked Rinne.
"Don't worry, it is not a bad thing. You will know when you arrive at the training ground," said Jason.
