Chapter 9 - Run

'O wait!' I forgot to change into some casual clothes. Why would I show up to a restaurant in my academy uniform anyway? Like seriously?

I stripped off my uniform with ease, finding my way to my clothing rack soon after. I picked out a black dress shirt paired with grey pants. The look definitely didn't seem bad on Simon for sure. After putting on the clothes, I grabbed a navy blue hoody and quickly put it on.

Hoodies usually make someone look a little more inconspicuous, and it helps when blending into the crowd.

Now since that's all done, I left my room and walked towards the exit of the building. It's a sunny day and I am definitely going to enjoy every last bit of it! After being stuck on my deathbed for an entire year, I am definitely not going to hunker down in my dorm everyday.

I left the building and entered the gentle embrace of the sun, it felt like heaven. In all the time that I have been Simon, which has only been a day, I have never felt the warmth of the sun. This is a feeling that I have almost forgotten. I continued walking in the direction of the meeting place, but I realised something, 'I haven't checked my stats since I got here.'

I waved my hand in front of me instinctively, summoning a holographic screen.

'Hmmm....' it's not showing any of my skills or abilities, neither is it showing my physique... is this screen upgradeable?

'Rank?' That can't be right... even the female lead only graduated her 1st year as a beginner visionary... this is just not right!

Every Haven student gets their rank tested at the end of their first year. There are in total 8 visionary ranks: novice, beginner, intermediate, elite, expert, master, great, and grand. Each of these ranks symbolises at least a tenfold increase in one's overall capabilities. So that means, at minimum, I am ten times stronger than the female lead. And by the looks of it, it is mid summer. So that means that it is only midway through the first semester.

As to how a rank is calculated, it depends on your overall combat capability. So it is near impossible to lower or enhance your rank during testing. that is unless you have an ability that control your power and hide your prowess. But such a thing doesn't exist in my novel, that'd be just to overpowered.

Well now since I am done checking up on my stats, I guess I should try find some unlucky idiot to beat the shit out of- I mean to execute acts of self defence against evildoers.

"Young Miss, Student James House has been spotted heading over to Harbor Seafoods restaurant. Shall I gather your loyal followers to bring him to you?" An A-Class Student respectfully asked.

"Of course not! This student has contributed to my wellbeing, I cannot accept any disrespect when dealing with him. I still do not know about his connection with my saviour, but he is definitely also my benefactor." Of course I will not drag my benefactor over here! Even if he is only C-class, I am not so conceited.

"As you wish. I will send people over to provide an invit-"

No, I need to get my answers now. There is no time to spare, if James house knows about the demon cult's activities and my saviour, I must ask find out right away!

"No, just find me suitable clothes, I am going to see this benefactor myself."

***

Alas, after walking through the most dangerous and gang ridden areas in Haven, I did not find a single student that was higher than beginner rank... I am really disappointed.

I would just walk over and slap them, and they'd already fall flat on the ground, drooling. Like what is this shit? Aren't Haven students a bit more... powerful? This was just disappointed on so many levels. I only managed to level up my unarmed combat.

[skill: unarmed combat(lvl 4)]

'Ugghh...' I still have an hour before I have to be at the restaurant.

"HELP!!! THERE'S A TIER 3 DEMON ON THE LOOSE!"

I turned my head to the left to see a swarm of students rushing to my direction. This really doesn't look good... and they also mentioned a tier 3 demon! Isn't this the demon that James is supposed to slay a week from now?

Shit! I am not ready for this! I have to RUN!
