[Mechanics revision #1911: The Introduction of Devil Magic and power scaling for the aforementioned magic. Devil Magic corresponds to different 'elements' and are graded in tiers. Warrior tier, expert tier, master tier, grandmaster tier, Lord tier, ascended tier, and legend tier.
Please not that there are no individuals that have reached ascended tier or legend tier in the Demon World, such individuals are located in Hell.]
[Mechanics revision #1918: After a devil reaches rank 8, scaling of power heavily relies on tier of Devil Magic. Devil Magic after reaching rank 8 of visionary will take over as the primary scaling method. It is recommended for the user to practice Devil Magic early, so that they may have easier breakthroughs after ascending to rank 8.]
Simon heard these words buzz in his mind as he remembered the information from the revisions. Although the number of the revision made him feel rather annoyed of his own incompetence as an author back then, he still appreciated the amount of improvements that the system had introduced. Things like these would eventually end up as material for his new project.
'Oh, I remember now.' Simon inwardly spoke as he remembered the ticked off guard blocking his path.
'Hmmm... this guard has probably spent his entire life fighting and killing, it's probably not a good idea for a f***ing 16 year old to fight him. However, I am not in a great mood, so why not?'
Simon stretched his right arm to the side, opening his hand as he wiggles his fingers slowly. As though calling for a little pet, his fingers attracted streams of red smokey energy, quickly gathering it all into a dense dagger-like shape. In the very centre of it all was a black tinge, as if it was an eye staring directly into your soul. Grabbing onto the 'dagger', Simon twirled it around with his fingers and elegantly manoeuvred it like he was dancing.
Although appearing strong and mighty, the guard did seem to break a sweat, but quickly suppressed it with his superior bodily control. Within armour of black plate, was a buff guard of 70 years of age. He had been in the service of his mistress for five decades, holding unrequited affection for her. With his status as Vice-captain of the guard, he knew that few could outfight him, especially a mere young noble. But of course, this young noble had a peculiar set of purple horns, something that one does not usually see on a mere teenager.
"Guard, you are sure you want to attack your master?" Simon mocked as his expression turned sour with tiredness. Reaching his left arm behind him, Simon stealthily summoned forth four more daggers, which he levitated behind him.
"My master wouldn't be a mere brat like you! You haven't even come of age and you expect me to refer to you as master? Are you playing a sick joke on me? I am Diovol Noxxim, Vice-captain of the guard! You are but a common devil, not even of a Diva house probably! If I do not kill you here, how can I face the Mistress?" He shouted as he ran towards Simon with his sword.
"Did I miss something? When did I say you can refer to me as anything other than my title, Knight? Have you forgotten whom you are speaking too? I am Honourable, to you, knight. I will have you strung up on a spike if you keep on running your mouth off like that." Simon coldly replied as his expression suddenly turned from sourness to a cold expression that could freeze hearts. With a single step, the noise of shaking metalware could be heard from all over the room, echoing as metal rang and clashed in all directions. The peculiar thing is that the battle hadn't even started yet.
'I would be lying if I said that I didn't feel like killing something right now. I am honourable though, so I will kill only during this fight. I won't just murder on a whim. I will kill this man because he is attacking an innocent minor. It seems everyone wants to f**k with minors.'
SHAAA
Simon dashed forth with his dagger and thrusted it towards Diovol's neck, who blocked the dagger with the broad side of his blade. With the momentum he had garnered, Simon continued his action by placing his centre of gravity to his right so he could slide off to the side. In doing this, Simon nimbly sliced into the side of Diovol's abdomen as the former slid past him.
"AAARGH!" Diovol felt a stinging pain that coursed through his body as the wound began to flame with unbelievable measures of pain, causing him to lose his breath for a moment.
"DAMN YOU!" Diovol rushed towards Simon with his sword and aimed for Simon's left shoulder, smiling with hungry eyes.
'He's going to target my left-'
Without a moment to spare, Diovol rotated his body and went into for a slashing motion rather than a thrust, Leaving Simon with no time to react.
SLASH
The blade shallowly slashed into Simon' upper body, leaving a a long wound on him. Luckily, his current clothes were made with magic, meaning that they can self repair. Knowing this, Simon didn't have to worry about buying a new set after this is over.
"Take a look at the tip of your blade...it looks rather not pointy, don't you think?" Simon pointed at Diovol's sword.
With a quick glance, Diovol noticed that the tip of his sword, that had shallowly cut into Simon, had been corroded very heavily, leaving a melted texture on what was left of the thrusting end of his blade. With eyes of pure ferocity, Diovol looked back at his opponent.
"This sword belonged to my father's father. How will you pay for this great loss?" Diovol asked with an angered expression.
"I will make you suffer! You dare to steal the Mistress' purity and leave such a blemish on my swor-"
SLASH
Four daggers flew in from four different directions, intersecting at Diovol's neck. Without another word, Diovol's head dropped from his body and he died.
'Funny thing, opponents won't always stop to listen for your monologues. This is not a cutscene, this is life.'
