Chapter 38 - Fire (1)

The bus finally arrived at a huge gate that was being guarded by a group of heavily armoured soldiers. Each one of these soldiers had gleaming silver armour with a haven insignia pasted onto both of their shoulder pads. From what Simon could observe, he could detect that each and everyone of the guards are expert rank auxiliaries.

While auxiliaries did not possess the talent that visionaries had, they were nonetheless able to progress as long as they had the necessary willpower and put in effort. These guards could be considered proof that not all auxiliaries were weak, since their jobs required strength and experience to undertake.

'Hmmm... I wonder which teams that devil has turned on us?' Simon thought to himself.

"Woah... this place had so much security! I wonder what it's like to fight a demon? I've always wanted to try kill one!" Ben enthusiastically declared.

"Me too! I want to crush those demon scum under my boots!" Liam shouted.

"This will serve as a valuable learning experience for all of us, I hope that we encounter suitable targets so we may progress in our practical knowledge." Sienna spoke as she dragged her fingers through her hair.

"Master has prepared us for what is to come, all we can do is to apply his knowledge perfectly and complete the trial without issues." Tyrone remarked.

James silently got up from his seat without making any comments, probably trying to think about a plan for the Trial. Although he may seem a bit timid sometimes, he was still one of the more calculative characters from the novel.

"This is entry gate 10, make sure to use the change rooms and equip your gear. I expect everyone out within 10 minutes." The bus driver announced.

Immediately, everyone rushed to what seemed to be two small cubicles in the bus. Simon luckily got in before anyone else could, putting on his equipment shocking fast. Before he knew it, Simon had already stepped out of the bus and went into the process of waiting for his students.

Thud

"Heya Simz~" a familiar voice giggled.

"Hi Mick." Simon plainly responded.

Michelle was dressed in high quality weave armour, allowing her to essentially wear what seemed to a cloak and standard looking pants and a shirt as armour. Such a thing was an advantage for the rich, which Simon also possessed. However, Simon preferred his system-bought items better.

He himself looked particularly dazzling in his attire, sporting his coat, dress shirt and pants, along with his light metal armor layered onto his outfit.

"So cool..." Michelle quietly commented.

"You look cool too." Simon smiled.

"What ya think?" Ben asked as soon as he exited the bus.

Ben himself was sporting full metal plate armour which he had received from Professor White at an undisclosed date, adorned with urban camouflage patterns. As such, he had a clear advantage in stealth, although looking like a literal tank.

"Looks nice, but not as nice as mine" Liam stated as he exited the bus too.

Liam wore a full black set of armour with a matching black trench coat , to the point that one could think of him as that one emo kid from fifth grade that never got over their kindergarten 'wife'.

Before anyone could say a word, James stepped out, with the exact same set of armour and accessories.

"..."

"Twinsies!" Liam giggled.

"..."

'I regret every decision I ever made while writing James' character. If I could go back in time, I would even prefer some random isekai hobo to be the bloody protagonist-'

Simon mentally slapped himself.

'Nonono... How can I be so cold to my protagonist? This is probably a phase that he'll grow out of in a few months.' Simon hoped.

"Hello people! What do you think about this look?" Jack asked as he jumped out of the bus.

"..."

He was essentially wearing a replica of Professor White's clothing with weave armour added onto it. Of course Jack couldn't afford such an expensive outfit for himself, so naturally he requested it from Professor White, who agreed to it with pride. He even went so far as to dye his hair.

"He even has the hair..." Liam whispered to Ben.

"It looks great, nice tribute to the Professor!" Mark said as he came out of the bus with the exact same outfit.

"..."

"Yes, very nice choice of attire. Master would be proud if he was here to watch us!" Tyrone announced as he went out of the bus with also the exact same clothing.

"..."

"Tyrone, you even got a wig? Nice!" Mark laughed.

"The look isn't completed without it!" Tyrone laughed also.

"..."

And then, at last, two normal people came out of the bus.

"Nice outfit?" Sam asked everyone.

Samantha wore a blue dress that was integrated with strong chainmail that protected almost all of her body.

"Lookin good." Michelle teased.

"Does my armour look aesthetically pleasing?" Sienna asked as she followed Samantha in exiting.

With a crimson weave armour dress, Sienna appeared to be a goddess sent from the heavens to teach humanity about class, even the more reserved boys couldn't help but admire her.

"Looks great, sis." Michelle spoke up.

"Well now that the exhibition is over, let's get to the gate." Simon announced.

"Alright!"

The group quickly made their way to he gate and were greeted by the guards, who gave each one of them a tag with their ID on it. With the tag, the guards would instantly know if a student died and could report the event straight to Haven.

As the card distribution finished, the gates opened and the Trial began.

"Let's show those demons what prof's class is made of!"

"I hope you don't wet yourself when we fight our first demon." Ben laughed at Liam.

"Shut it, every moment is now life and death, master has already explained that this is the case as soon as we enter the gates. Keep your guards up." Tyrone interrupted.

"As we should."
