Colorless. That's the best way to describe my life. Well, my current life.
My life was full of colour when I was young. My father died a year after I was born due to a car accident but my mother did her best to fill the gap left by my father's death. She protected me, tended to me when I was sick, educated me and gave me even more things than I deserve.
I wasn't born into a poor family either. My dad was an owner of a large restaurant company in Japan in which the ownership was soon given to my mother, which is the vice president of his company at that time when my father died. I entered school just like other kids and I'm almost finished studying Accountancy at an international school in Japan.
My life just started getting worse when life took away my mother from me. And even in front of my eyes.
We were just heading home in our car when a bus suddenly lost control and crashed directly into us. That time my mind just went blank and thoughts swirled in my mind. 'What happened?' 'Why am I feeling pain?' 'Why can't I move?' 'Why is everything blurry?'
And in the midst of the chaos I saw a silhouette of a man coming out of the bus and running away. Multiple people pointing their phones at us, capturing pictures and just watching us die. None of them dared to even approach and help us. Then darkness engulfed my sight.
I woke up after that and I found myself in a hospital covered in bandages and bearing a broken arm. Some of our relatives are there, smiling when I woke up but when I asked where my mother was, all of their smiles faded away.
There, I realized… My mother's dead. The bus slammed to her side, which means she received all of the impact in that accident. They all gave me their condolences and words of encouragements but none of those helped. My mother's dead. No more of my family is left.
After that I never smiled again. I was already at legal age so I inherited the company, the business was taking off as usual but all those riches and luxuries can't bring back my family. Nor can it repair my already broken heart. I lived a few more years living like that until I was already twenty-three years old.
Then a friend told me to watch some anime just to vent off some stress so I tried watching one, and I liked it. Watching anime became my justice. The main characters kept experiencing bad things in life. They were just like me, but with a happy ending.
Then one Saturday morning I was driving towards work when I heard a loud, honking sound. It was too late for me to realize that a truck was coming at me in full speed, ready to take my life.
'Seriously, Fate… Can't you think of anything that could kill me except a car accident? You killed off my family with that, you know?'
I even managed to joke to myself before life was taken from me.
