"I'm so sorry if I disturbed you" Sun apologized. She lowered her gaze to the floor and reminisced on the dream she just had. "Don't apologize. Just tell me what happened, how did you get to the stairs?" Ming asked her but she remained quiet. He then placed a hand on her shoulder and said "it's ok. We don't have to talk about it if you don't want to". "I… I don't know how I got to the stairs. I was dreaming. But it seemed so vivid. There was someone else in the house and he knew me" she said. "There was someone in the house?" Ming asked in a cautious tone. "Yes, there was. I don't remember his face. But there was something painfully familiar about him. He was yelling at me and he led me to the stairs" she paused. "He… He asked me to j… jump" she said and then started crying all over again. It couldn't have been just a bad dream and Ming knew it. He had witnessed the scene happen and he felt just as helpless then as he felt now as he sat watching Sun cry. Would it be easier if he just told her everything? Unable to find a way out, he decided to tell her the truth, sort of.
"Yes, there was a bad man here, before your accident. He caused your accident." This piece of information startled her so much; she stared at Ming like he was a ghost. He had confirmed all her fears. Was that the memory he was hiding from her? Did the man she saw appear a lot in those memories? If just a brief experience with the man even in her sleep scared her so much, would she be able to handle her memories? The words that Ming had said to her triggered a spark in her brain and there was this really loud ringing in her head. She held her ears to stop it but it wouldn't stop, it only got louder and she shut her eyes tight. She probably shouldn't have done it; as a result images ran across her mind. They were filled with pain; she could feel the pain of each image as it passed her. She fell to the floor clutching her ears and with her eyes shut tightly, she folded herself into a fetal position and shivered.
Ming had been trying to get her to pull herself together. He shouldn't have told her the truth. He should have just told her it was a bad. He fell along with her as she dropped to the floor and he struggled to console her as they lay on the floor, side by side. He put his arm around her and hugged her tightly, stroking her head as earnestly as he could. He felt her shiver in his arms and his heart broke with every sob he heard. He didn't know how long they were going to be in that position and he didn't know what to do to ease her pain. He could never forgive his brother or himself. Why had his father opted that his brother should marry her knowing the type of person Tai was? Why had he refused her that day? He had tried to convince his father that she was no good for their family. He had used her background as an excuse, that was a terrible first impression, and he had never successfully explained his reason to her. What right did he have over her? She was his brother's wife, but he was here with her, in this position. This made him feel very guilty, even as he thought of it. He had deceived his brother into thinking she had died that day, just to save her from that hell called marriage. This went against all the values upheld by his family. He scoffed at the word values, his family and that word weren't fit to be used in the same sentence. His family only had egotistical principles that they upheld. Ever since his mother died, his family had never been the same. It was a very gruesome death and she couldn't even get the justice she deserved. His brother and he were very different people from that day. They handled the death of their mother very differently as they did to every other problem they ever faced in life.
Sun had stopped shaking and she seemed to be relaxed when Ming finally snapped out his thoughts. He tried to move her body a little, but her body fell too freely. Her eyes were still shut but her eyelids were more relaxed. He raised her hand and let go and it fell to the floor with no resistance. Ming's heart raced and he sat up, and checked for a pulse. Her pulse was really weak and this terrified him. Still in a somewhat dazed state, he picked her up from the floor and placed her on the bed, something he had done after her accident. Except this time there was no blood. He left her room to his room to get his cellphone and he called the same doctor he had called before when she fell.
He couldn't call his family or personal doctor because he needed to keep the fact that she was still alive away from his family. He needed someone who wouldn't ask too many questions and will just get the work done and leave. When he was asked to take her to the hospital because she needed a blood transfusion, he had hesitated. He didn't want to risk having her condition discovered by his brother. But he ended up taking her there and made sure to stay with her at all times. But now she had passed out again, he didn't know what to do. He went to her room and sat beside her on the bed, patiently waiting for the doctor to arrive. He didn't have to wait long, his phone rang and he went downstairs to receive her. It wasn't until he reached the bottom of the stairs that he remembered that he had broken a glass and spilled milk everywhere. But it was almost like that never happened, there was no trace of milk nor glass anywhere.
He got to the door and opened it, and saw a lady standing there. She looked slightly over 20 and did not look anything like a doctor. She had a pair of jeans on with a white shirt and black sneakers, and she carried a handbag with her. Her black hair was neatly packed into a ponytail. "You called?" she asked. "Ah, yes. Follow me" Ming said walking away and she followed behind him. She could see that he was tensed even though she had already told him to calm down over the phone. Ming led her up the stairs and into Sun's room. She saw Sun lying on the bed and she looked really weak.
