I told you, four days Ian. your time is up with her. I hope you had your fun with my little play toy.
I woke up in a cold sweat panting and wondering what was going on. It was still dark outside, what time is it? I looked over to my clock spazzing out. It took me a moment to realize that something was missing. Luna! Where did she go? She must have gotten up to get a drink, yeah that must be it. My time can't be up yet. Not yet, please. I ran out of my room looking for her and was greeted with an empty abyss. Abyss isn't the right word for what I saw. The room was blacker than the void itself.
I can hear crying off in the distance somewhere. I looked behind me and my room was gone. I have to find her. I began to run. Each foot step was followed by a loud echo. Where is she? My mind was scattered and I couldn't think straight. It felt like I had been running for hours. My lungs were on the verge of collapsing and legs felt as if they were on fire. A faint light started to grow in front of me so I [pushed myself. I couldn't stop now, not when i'm so close to her I can feel it. The crying sounded like it was in my ear now. The light engulfed and I was blinded.
"So you actually came after her." a deep voice said. It was his voice. "Please I need more time with her damnit, after how this world has treated me she is the only thing good about it! I don't want to lose her!" I begged and pleaded with the being but what followed was silence. A faint muffled crying could be heard but I couldn't see where. My vision wasn't coming back to me. All I see is white.
"You say this world has treated you horribly but you have treated it no better. You killed other beings just for your satisfaction. To me this seems fair. You were shown grace and now we're taking it back. You were never even supposed to know we exist."
"What do you mean? I wasn't supposed to believe that there was a twisted fucking god in this world? Well it's far too late for that!" I said and the thing began to laugh.
"Who ever said anything about god? He wants nothing to do with you wretched things. Yoo disgusted him so much he fled and left us to work your pitiful souls." he raised his voice more and more as he went on with that statement. God.. left us?
"Your little girlfriend here was created to bring armageddon upon all your souls, but it's obvious she was a mistake."
"Don't say that! If she was a mistake then why not leave her down here?"
"Hahaha, sorry but she's still too precious for that. And to make sure she doesn't return back here…." a loud ripping sound followed by a girl's screams could be heard. Thud. What was that? It sounded fleshy and wet. As if on cue my vision came back almost instantly. What I saw was disgusting. Luna's back was dripping with a bright red and her last wing was on the floor twitching. "You bastard!" I screamed but this only seemed to make him laugh.
"What are you going to do about it? The only reason you're alive right now is to suffer and watch as everything around you falls apart. We warned you with that old lady's death, ugh the sac of bones deserved it. Then we made your dear old dad attack Luna in hopes seeing that would break you, but no. here you are still trying to stop me. Just wait you mongrel, we'll turn your whole life around and show you what suffering is. Oh wait, we already did that once with a specific girl. What is her name? Erin?"
My blood was boiling at this point. All that was in my mind was a single word. Kill. kill. Kill. kill. Kill.
This thing deserved to burn and writhe in front of me! I'll rip him apart piece by little piece. But before I knew it the hooded figure from a few days ago appeared and grabbed me. The white room began to fade along with the beast holding Luna's shivering body. That image was burnt in my mind.
Old memories flooded my mind and new ones too. Erin… Luna… why? Why did you have to be cursed with meeting me? "Why do you humans seem so hopeless when all is taken from you? There was once a time when you would frighten the higher beings with your unique souls, and now all I see in them is pity." that voice or voices sounded familiar. "Watcher?" that name rolled out of my mouth. "Yes it is I. You can open your eyes, we're no longer in that voided realm." I trusted it's words and opened my eyes. We were in an overlook. Below you could see the city and the lights that shone from it. "Why did you save me back there? You should have let me die by that beast." my words sounded so pitiful. "Well if I had let you die then I would have lost a very important piece to my puzzle." If it had a face under that hood then I'm sure it'd be giving me a smug look. Of course, I'm just a mere piece to this things plan. I should be used to being used like this. That's all I'm useful for isn't it? Once I fully fill my role I'll just be tossed aside. "Stop with those thoughts. I should rephrase my words. You are the picture of the puzzle, the most important part of it all. Something that can't be tossed aside once all is done." how? Can it read my thoughts?
"Yes, I can read your thoughts. Once you've lived as long as I have you learn how to hear the words of one's soul."
"Do you have a soul?" the question just came out.
"Do I? I wonder that too. If I do then it is more complex than any other spirit in this universe, and knowing something like that terrifies even me."
"Wow something can scare a beast like you?"
"Young one, everything has a fear. Mine is truth and the angels fear the thing that necklace awakens."
What? What does he mean by that? The angels are afraid of something? And that thing is in my hands…. The joy in me at this moment is immeasurable. I'll tear that damn monster piece by piece for hurting Luna and for uttering her name.
