Chapter 5 - A Nurse - 5

"Hello, students. Today we are going to study about Introduction to Nursing. Can anyone give a definition of nurse and what is nursing?"

(Simran," Isn't nurse a person who assists the doctor and follows his instruction. So, what can we even define about it.")

"Since my dear students, you are the future nurses of our country, you should know what is a nurse and you should be proud of it. A nurse is a person who cares, nourishes, fosters the health of an individual, family and community setting for their wellness. We are the one who will be with the injured or sick people regularly, know about their condition, improvement, together during their admission and discharge, we are the one who will watch over them as a guardian, their protector and their health care worker. So, work hard and study well. Okay, class?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"Their guardian huh..protector....well we will see. I don't understand anything now, may be i will later."

The classes run smoothly and two months pass by. First internal assessment starts and the students give their best in the exams.

"Students, I have brought the exam results. So in this exam, sixty percent of you have failed. And the highest percentage is eighty nine brought by Simran. Congrats, Simran."

"Huh... Thank you Ma'am"

Everyone comes towards Simran and congratulates her.

"You know, Simran if you become first in the final exams you will get scholarship for the next year. Try your best."

"Oh really. Thanks."

" Hey, mom. I became first in the exam .The one who was first ranker in the entrance exam became second."

"Oh, you became first. Congrats."

"Even I don't know how I became first. I didnot even studied properly. I guess nursing is an easy subject. Oh! and you know if I become first in finals I can get scholarship also. I guess I will study more harder."

Simran lies on the bed and thinks about her future. Even though she had got the highest scores, she didnot became glad. All the thoughts she only had in her mind was whether her decision to become a nurse was right or wrong.
