Their argument had attracted a lot of students' attention. But, since they know it was the E-class, they did not dare say anything and the whole ballroom was silent.
"STOP PESTERING ME!! I SAID I'M FINE, DIDN'T I?! WHY ARE YOU AIRI SO ANNOYING!!"
This rendered him completely silent. He never expected this gentle and sweet little girl would raise her voice in front of him. But perhaps, he was also at the wrong just because he's worried, he did not try to understand her feelings.
Sitting beside her, Livi did not want this to go on any longer. So, he lifted her up and carried her away despite her struggling.
"LIVI, PUT ME DOWN, PUT ME DOWN!! I SAID PUT ME DOWN!!!"
Due to her weak strength and light weight, her struggling did not bother him one bit as he carried her away with much ease.
"Hush! Kira, stop acting like a spoiled little brat and listen." He hissed her quiet and took her away, glancing at Airi, giving him a reassuring smile before he completely left the ballroom.
He carried her back to her room, as he thought that bringing her to the infirmary wouldn't make much of a difference. He gave her no chance to retort and placed her down in the bed. She glared at him angrily but he stayed there and watched over her while he read a book to pass the time.
An hour later, Airi and the others entered the room to check on her. Kira was curving herself up in the bed like a ball and Sychi was gently stroking her hair.
She seemed to have fallen asleep. Her sleeping face and posture seemed to be in great pain and helplessness. She looked so weak but she slept in a wary and fearful posture.
"Is she okay?" Airi asked worriedly, his voice full of grievance and regret.
"She's fine for now. It seemed that she missed her medication quite a couple of times that's why she suddenly had a relapse." Sychi answered him with a worried smile.
Hearing her answer, Airi sat in a corner and gloom filled the air surrounding him. It seems he deeply regret getting angry at her.
"Stop sulking already, it's your fault for getting mad at her." Myth harshly spat at him.
"I know, I'm sorry." He regrettably said. "I just hope Kira won't start ignoring me."
Annoyed, she didn't say anything further and sat on the couch. Livi who was reading, closed the book and finally picked up the courage to ask.
"What's wrong with her exactly? Is she ill?"
Sychi glanced at all of them then sighed. She thought that perhaps now is the best time to tell them everything.
"As all of you know already, Kira is a weak child. She was born weaker than the boy, and they both suffered from the illness most of you have. It's just that, their illness pains them greatly than in any of you. But for this fragile little girl, her sufferings and pain, no one could understand it." As she paused, everyone was astounded and bemused in the last words she said.
Sighing helplessly, Sychi continued. "What an irony. I actually wished she could just die. I understand that it might sound cruel and her death is something all of you does not desire and afraid of, yet...the child is going through so much pain death is the only way she could be relieved from it."
Sychi recalled it in her memories. After the lady died, she was the first to arrive at the scene only seconds after the sky turned red.
She left nothing except a rose of half black and pink. Its petals touching the cheeks of a pair of twins, snuggling close to each other wrapped with single piece of blanket to keep them warm. Apparently, they were asleep but they seemed to have cried a lot stopping only when they felt their mother's warmth.
Those pair of twins were simply adorable. They were so beautiful with their fair and smooth skin, their small rosy lips and cheeks, and their long and beautiful lashes. They bore the resemblance of both their parents and looked so alike one would doubt whether they were really fraternal twins of the opposite gender.
She remembered looking at them with utter indifference and disgust. After all, no matter how lovely they are, they were still the cursed twins that will bring disaster in the world. If not for the lady that they adore, she would not even look at them much less raise them as their guardian.
However, what she failed to notice back then was the paleness in the children especially the girl. She was barely breathing and appeared really weak, as she shuddered in the cold despite being so close to her brother. Anyone who would see them then would have felt that they were really pitiful, but she was so focused to the fact that they were cursed she did not bother with it.
When her brothers finally arrived, they opposed letting them live in the palace. In the end, they came to an agreement to separate the two and leave one to stay at the Darkrose mansion as it's heir.
Unfortunately, things didn't happen as agreed on because on the first night they were separated since they were born, the two of them broke out a high fever that did not subside until they all decided to bring them back together.
As time goes by, the fairies remained indifferent still. Only Kail took care of them with adoration as Meijin and her helps the fairies with raising them.
But the girl is really pitiful and weak. She didn't even have the strength to cry and tears would just silently flow from her eyes. She was always in pain and her brother would always be the one to cry for her as if crying for help. They thought then that the child would not survive and die very soon.
After some time, the boy started to crawl. He would play with their toys while keeping a short distance from his sister who lay flat and motionless in the bed not having the strength she needed to even sit.
But because he wanted to play with her, he would help her sister sit up, letting her lean on him without giving up on her at all. That way, the two of them would play while the girl hugs fluffy toys that were small enough for her to hold.
Things had been like that even until they first learned to walk. Kishi would learn first and until he could finally manage himself without losing balance, he would then pull his sister up, helping her as she would hold onto him tightly so that she would not fall.
One thing about that girl was that she never smiled. There was once a time when they both looked at her indifferently. Kishi was standing by her side, carrying a teddy bear as he looked at Sychi without emotions, aloof, and as cold as ice. Kira was sitting by his side, her eyes drooping, lifeless, and weak, looking at an infinite distance. Her wan face was filled with sadness and pain as she tugged the hem of her brother's clothes tightly.
On that same night, she had seen something she wished she could forget as it was filled with terror. She came back then at their room to check if they were asleep and she was frightened to see the reality the twins were hiding closely to their hearts.
It was night and their bedroom's lights were close and the only light illuminating the room was the moonlight. Kira was gasping for air as she was unable to breath, and her face colorless from pain she was feeling. She clutched her chest tightly with one hand as she lay her head motionless and weak on her arm. Her other hand was reaching out to her brother, tugging his sleeve tightly that her knuckles turned white and her hand trembled.
The tighter she holds something, the more pain she feels. Apparently, she clutched her hands tightly that her fingers dug to her palm and the blood was flowing on the gentle skin of her arms. Tears of blood was also flowing from her eyes, mixing with the perspiration that covered her pallid face. The poor girl was in so much pain but she was so weak she couldn't even make a sound but her shallow breathing.
Kishi just looked at her full of loving tenderness and care, full of anxiousness and grievance. He couldn't even do anything but watch as his dear sister suffer from the intense pain. Perhaps, that was the reason for his coldness towards others and unable to fully express himself. It was because he felt the responsibility to take care and love his sister, doing all he could to ease her pain his feelings did not matter.
He crouched beside her and hugged her, tears flowing from his eyes at the realization that even he could not understand the pain she was feeling. Oh, how he wished the two of them could share the pain she was feeling together so that it could be more bearable. Alas, the universe did not permit that.
After seeing the scene that night, Sychi asked Apollo to care for them. The higher fairy was reluctant, but when he diagnosed her, he found out that the girl was feeling pain all over her body all the time her body became used to it but she would still tremble. There were just sometimes her body would collapse and the pain will overwhelm her, resulting the incident that night.
He recommended a medication that will subdue the pain a little but will not completely remove it. However, she must not miss it no matter what or the same thing will happen again.
Honestly, it was a miracle she was alive. But maybe because she was an immortal who also receive the blessing from the Scared palace that kept her alive until now. Yet, perhaps it's also because of Kishi's unwillingness for her to die that the forces of nature cannot kill her. How long will she have to endure this pain until Kishi would give up? When would he relieve her from her sufferings when death is her only cure?
