"Their appearance wasn't the only thing that is the same. Their blood, their magic, their very being was the same, not just similar." Amili continued. "Some would even say that they were the same person, but they're not good at everything and needs each other's support. They were highly dependent to each other that they can't be separated."
"Have you ever wondered why it is so easy for them to merge their magic?"
The two boys were rendered silent in Amili's question.
"Magic fusion is considered as highly difficult that is impossible even for close family relations. It is both difficult and dangerous that one needs to go through extensive training to perform it."
Amili directed her index finger to her wrist as she continued. "The guild's emblem on your wrist does not only state you as a part of your guild, but it serves another purpose created to help you fuse your magic together. But that was only made possible by the finest of mages that created and designed it."
"Those two...they fuse their magic like it was noting and without the help of the guild's emblem. Why? Have you ever thought about it? Or perhaps do you think that it's just because they went through harsh training?"
Now that she said it, they kinda wondered why as well. Honestly, they never really thought that much about it. But if they were going to be asked why, they would indeed answer that maybe it's because their twins or perhaps because they went through a lot of training. However, those are all wrong.
"They can effectively fuse their magic without trouble, was because their magic was, the very same itself. And I'm talking about the same her, not just alike. They may have different styles in using it, but it's all the same. You should have noticed this, that they can control the other's magic like it was their own."
"However, two persons with the very same magic was impossible since everything in this world was unique and everything is different from each other. But for these two, they are just a single person divided into two, just like in the legends. They are one of the same. Some even say that their clovers are connected, while some says their clover is only one."
"That is why when they join hands, their magic circuits that are responsible for spreading their magic all over their bodies connect to each other, causing their magic to circulate not only to their own, but to the other as well."
"This is the most effective way to deal with that dangerous ritual. Kira's magic will not be exhausted for Kishi's magic runs to her as well. We got lucky this time. Unfortunately, the two of them were such trouble magnets that the next time Kira would be kidnapped, it won't be that good."
"Hey, don't jinx it!" Rex and Airi said together.
"I was only telling the truth." Amili shrugged. "But seriously...I know nothing good is happening, but it's just so..."
"Beautiful?" Airi finished for her.
Grinning Rex told her. "Don't get too mesmerized lady, or you'll fell in love with them too, just like an idiot friend of mine."
"Are you implying to me?" Airi glared daggers at him.
Rex smiled as he shrugged. "Who knows, I never mentioned a name."
Airi wanted to say something but he suppressed his annoyance and sighed. Taking care of this younger siblings of his is really difficult. But he can't deny it. That he loved them. It is indeed true that blood is thicker than water. They may not be his real siblings, but they do still share the blood of the roses that still goes on till ancient times.
After everything had calmed down, they decided to finally leave the place and go back to the castle where the others are waiting for them.
Kira could already stand, so she walked behind Kishi while holding her brother's hand for reassurance.
Lune was still unconscious and Rex decided to give him a piggy back as they return back to the castle.
The twins were walking behind, but before they can fully get out from the place, Kishi abruptly stopped, causing Kira to bump into him.
Sighing, he glanced at her and crouched down. "Get on, you can't walk barefooted on the soil, I'll carry you."
Upon hearing his words, Kira looked down at her feet. Her clothing was changed and her feet was bare. And by taking a closer look, she was standing on the cold stone from the hidden cave. It was the edge of the stone and before it was the moisty ground.
It was common knowledge for mages not to step on the dirt while barefooted. It says that if one did, the earth will adsorb the mage's magic, draining him dry, till there's nothing left.
Kira looked at Kishi before taking a step back. Biting her lip, she hesitated.
"What's wrong?" Kishi asked.
"I...I've been eating a lot of sweets lately."
"Kira, just go on already."
"But..." Kira tried to argue as she fiddled with her fingers. Looking at her brother, he was obviously glaring at him in a thoughtful way, giving her no chance to refuse. "Okay..."
Kishi carefully carried her. He held her tightly, but not so tight that he would hurt her.
Kira warped her arms on his shoulders. She missed his warmth and his scent is just nice and calming.
Without her knowing why, tears started flowing out of her eyes and she started crying as she buried her face on his back.
Kishi on the other hand, remained silent. He did not try to stop her from crying nor said anything to her. He just kept silent, listening to her cries.
Eating sweets lately? What an obvious lie. She was very light. Kishi did not feel like carrying anything except paper. She was just not heavy. Then again, she had always been this light no matter how much she eats.
"Nisan, are you tired?"
"No."
Kira had stopped crying. Their pace is slow and time seemed to go on forever. It seems like they walked a mile already, but they didn't get far that the shore was still not at view.
"Nisan, am I heavy?"
"No."
As they continued walking, Kira kept asking these kinds of questions every now and then. And just like always, Kishi's answer remains the same.
"Nisan, do you need to rest? Are you tired?"
"No Kira."
Kira felt that asking these questions are pointless. Kishi would never say yes. Yet somehow, she felt guilty.
"Nisan, am I a burden?"
This question is just like the others, but Kishi was stunned when she asked this, he wasn't able to quickly reply.
A burden? Yes, that's how she really feels.
"Nisan, you're always carrying me. I'm always being carried." She held him even tighter, and she felt like crying once again.
"Am I a burden?"
"No, you're not."
"But...I, I'm just so weak. You always have to carry me. I don't want this anymore. Maybe, maybe I really am a burden. I can't even do anything at all..."
Kishi halted his steps and Kira started sobbing silently again. "Stop this. Don't say anything anymore!"
"But it's the truth...I, I can't stand on my own, you always have to carry me around. Nisan, you always have to take care of me, you always have to protect me." She cried. "Nisan, you're amazing. But don't you think you'll be better off without a weak sister like me? Nisan?"
"I said stop this already!?"
Kishi placed her down on a huge rock and faced her. He clenched his fist tightly and faced her with teary eyes. He cannot stand her to say such things. She was not a burden, and he would never feel that way.
"I don't want you to say these things, so don't say anything anymore." He said. "Kira, you're not burden okay. And you'll never be, not to me."
Kira clutched her clothes as she said, "But...but I, I'm so weak..."
As tears welled in his eyes, Kishi hugged her tightly. "It's okay. It's okay to be weak. I'm strong, so I'll protect you so you don't have to worry about anything. I promise, your dear brother will protect you, always, so don't say that anymore...okay?"
