Chapter 1 - Windows to One's Soul

"Hey! Why are your eyes so lifeless?"

Surprised by the sudden intrusion of somebody, Espresso simultaneously lowered his head, not bothered to look at that particular somebody. In his panic, he was already planning for his escape route, but his feet won't move.

Seeing the trembling guy on the bench, the person seems to understand his situation.

"Did I frightened you? Sorry 'bout that, I just can't walk away after seeing the emptiness in your eyes."

"Hey! Don't always look down or your neck's going to suffer, you wouldn't want to experience that haha~ C'mon, look up bro.."

Laughing amicably, her voice was soothing as if it can heal the heart of one's soul, the moment he heard her encouragement, he look up.

"You have a good pair of eyes. Treat them well. Don't make them lifeless."

Espresso wanted to rebuke her. He wanted to tell her that she doesn't know what he had been through, but he was tongue-tied upon seeing her.

Jovial aura radiates from her. Her clear face was unadorned with cosmetics. Her hair was tied in a neat pony. And her eyes, her deep blue eyes that conveys the beauty of the universe. Her presence alone gives hope to someone. All in all, her beauty speaks otherworldly.

"Here, a snapshot of you," she handed him a camera showing a photo of him looking afar. "I hope to see you again in a brand new life. And take that camera as a gift from me." he was clutching the camera reluctantly as he was not able to process what was going on.

"Hahaha~ alrighty, I'll teach you how to capture the emotion in a photo."

"See here, this is the viewfinder, this is where you can view a scene before capturing it. And this one here is the....." Listening attentively to her every word, every explanation, it was deeply engraved in his heart.

"Look beyond what the eyes can see and you will find the beauty that only heart can perceive. Or so someone says hahaha~ Just like what I saw in you. Eyes are the windows to one's soul, your eyes may have dulled but I wish for you to see superbness in everything."

"Are you an angel?" he finally found his voice. "Hahahaha~ why? Do I look like one?" the boy nodded in affirmation. She gave him a kind smile. "Anyone can be an angel, perhaps, someday, you will be an angel to someone's life."
