By sunrise, Jeno, Kataigida and Vizhen were already transferred to their room at the VIP building. Sky and Aello followed shortly after they're settled in.
While the younger ones were huddled on the couch by the living room and watching a cooking show, Jeno and Sky went to the small dining room to discuss their plans for the future.
"We have to be more careful from now on. If we have to disappear, then so be it. We need to make sure that they won't know that we survived that night," Sky broke the silence. His voice hushed and cold.
"Yeah, mom had suffered," Jeno's was soft and calming. Her gaze focused on the youngsters who are still oblivious of what's happening, however, the somber feeling in the room revealed what they are feeling inside. They know that their mother was dead. Now, they are afraid to face the fact that they might be totally orphans.
They grew without a father and being with their mother all their life, they felt devastated and broken when their elder brother informed them that their mother perished in the fire. That is all they care about, unaware that their mother's death and what happened that night was because some people can't have them. Only Jeno and Sky knew about this.
"Sometimes, I think it is my fault. I felt like it is only me that's to blame on what happened. If I hadn't had powers, we wouldn't be suffering any of these," Sky's voice was full of self-blame and hurt was evident in his eyes.
Jeno took his hand into hers, grasped it and looked into his eyes, "Sky, listen, none of this is our fault. Mom told us that many times before, and I will continue to remind you guys about that. What we have is a gift, and there will come a time that we will put it to good use. We are still needed."
Sky took a deep breath after listening to her. She's right. Alena, their mother, did her best to engrave into their minds that they are not cursed, what they have is a gift and there will come a time that they will use it for the greater good. She did her best to raise them well, educating them and passing on her knowledge about their mysteries. He started recollecting what had happened before they were attacked.
Sky just turned 18 a few days before the tragedy, entering into adulthood and just realizing his responsibilities to uphold and protect the family. When the clock struck 12:00 AM on the day of his birthday, his Unveiling took place and it might have triggered the alarms of the Minions who were trying to locate them. It gave away their location and just a few days after, they were surrounding the mansion. Sky, who had just started to get used to his powers, was only able to produce a shield to protect him and his siblings, while Alena did her best to fend off the enemies. Somehow, they were able to drug her and the drug brought out her greatest fears and twisting them against her.
She turned to her children and called them monsters, though she never saw them as one. In reality, deep in her heart, she was afraid that they will call themselves monsters and think that they are cursed. She was crying and deeply hurt by her words, but she can't control her body. She turned her flame towards them. Sky had already put up the shield around. "Sky, they're on your hands now," Alena communicated to her son through her mind. Her flames are also burning her from the inside. After that, a loud explosion erupted in the forest and everything were engulfed by the fire. The Minions who were around the mansion also perished, while those who are in a good distance managed to run away.
Sky can feel Alena's pain through her message. It pierced through his whole system, and it's gut-wrenching. He knew that she didn't mean anything that she said that night and he will use her pain to move forward and continue protecting his family.
