We head into town under the disguise of my illusion skill. Max sat on my head in his small form as we passed the guards. [Well what should we tell them]? {How about that before we got there the hero alerted the dragon and we spent the past week trying to track it down but couldn't}. [Yeah that seems like it would work well].
We enter the guild but instead of the loud sound of drinks it sounded like everybody in the room was in absolute chaos. "WHY DID THE HERO HAVE TO GET HURT NOW"! "WHERES THAT HIGH RANKER"!? "EVERYBODY CALM DOWN"! I didn't have any clue what was going on until an adventurer walked up to me. "What are you doing here get to the guild masters room now and hurry your ass up".
I just walk there in utter confusion and shock as I walk up the long flight of stairs onto the guild masters room. I open the large door to find dozens of adventurers standing in the room. An important-looking man sits in a chair made out of ebony while he sits in the front of the room. He speaks up in a loud deep voice.
"ALRIGHT THANK YOU FOR COMING HERE TO LISTEN TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY"! "AS YOU ALL KNOW EVER SINCE THE DISAPPEARANCE OF HIGH-LEVEL ADVENTURERS AND THE INJURY OF THE HERO THE EAST DUNGEON IS OVERFLOWING WITH HIGH-LEVEL MONSTERS, SOON THEY WILL ALL LEAVE LOOKING FOR A BIGGER PLACE TO STAY"! It seems like the tournament and me injuring the hero was causing a lot more problems than I thought it would.
"NOW THAN IT'S TIME TO CHECK EVERYBODY'S RANK TO SEE WHERE THEY WILL FALL. A bunch of guild receptionists come out and start checking everybody's ID card. As mine gets checked I hide my race by using my finger.
"ALRIGHT SEEMS LIKE WE HAVE ELEVEN ADEPTS, TWENTY-ONE NOVICES, NINETEEN APPRENTICES, THREE INTERMEDIATES, AND ONE MASTER RANK"! Whispers spread throughout the crowd, I could pick up on a couple of conversations. "Wow, a Master rank". "Seems like we get some easy money". "Can't wait to see whoever it is in action". The whispers die down when the guild master raises his hands to usher silence.
"NOW THE REWARD FOR DOING THE IS TWENTY GOLD COINS FOR ADEPTS, THIRTY GOLD COINS FOR NOVICES, FIFTY FOR APPRENTICES, SIXTY FOR INTERMEDIATES AND ONE HUNDRED FOR THE MASTER RANK"! This is great, I get to train and get money for this. My coin purse was getting light due to me spending so much on the armor that dungeons funds don't last forever. "ALL OF YOU ARE NOW DISMISSED EXCEPT FOR THE MASTER RANK NIW GO AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL"!
The crowed dispperses leaving the room except me. "Now then shall we talk"? The guild master speaks in a lower more polite tone now which I'm thankful for. I wouldn't be able to take much more of the yelling. "This town isn't known for producing quality adventurers recently where do you come from? [I came south from a small village in the north].
"I see considering how your equipment is pretty shabby and yet your still a master rank I'm guessing you got here from your skills". [That would be correct yes]. "Than why aren't you in a party im guessing many would do anything to get you in their party". [I have my secrets and I prefer to be alone]. I decided it would be less suspicious if I said a more truthful answer. "I'll respect that but I need you to throw away your preferences to do this quest". [Yeah I can do that].
The guild master nods with satisfaction. "Good now go and get ready it will be a long week". [Understood]. I walk out of the room and head to the inn where we stayed at. Once in the room I deactivate the illusion turning back to my normal Kobold self. [Ugh I hate keeping this skill activated]. keeping the skill activated drained my Magic and it was very taxing. {Well that's the price you pay for this}. Max was right it was a price but I was willing to pay that. [Whatever I'm just going to sleep night Max]. {Night}.
Waking up the next morning I decided to go shopping. {What are you looking for}? [Torches, Jars of oil, and healing potions]. {I see you want to go in prepared don't you}. [Yeah thats the plan]. I could hear Max say something like thank you god he's not a dumbass anymore or something like that whatever it was it would pissed me off.
Once we got everything we needed we went to the group preparing to leave. "ALRIGHT"! The guild master goes back to his yelling. "TODAY YOU GO OFF ON AN IMPORTANT QUEST NOW COME BACK WITH SUCCESS AND GLORY"! Cheers erupt from the group of dozens of adventurers. "NOW BE OFF AND FIND SUCCESS"! Cheers erupt again but I just stand in the back. After his speech, the group heads off into the wilderness ready for the adventure to come.
