Chapter 8 - ||The So-called "My" Responsibility||

Hae Seong cursed himself as he paced back and forth in front of the hotel room. He bit his lips as he remembered Shin Qiang's words: 'YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.' The word responsibility haunted him again as he walked back and forth thinking how to explain to Sim Eun-Hee, who was waiting for her compensation on the other side of the door.

"How the hell am I supposed to ask to take responsibility after dissing and acting like an asshole?" Hae Seong wondered. Besides, Sim Eun-Hee didn't seem like the type to immediately to his responsibility into account.

He meant– which victim would like their kidnappers to take responsibility to feed, nurse, take care, and compensate? Sure! Anyone would find this creepy!

Hae Seong had begged for Shin Qiang to come in and explain the situation to the walking bomb Sim Eun-Hee, but that devil didn't listen to him! If Hae Seong could, he wanted to return Sim Eun-Hee back to the Sim family. But that meant that he would lose a chance against catching Sim Yoon-Mi later on!

"Sim Yoon-Mi is a rare type of witch." Shin Qiang had told him, "she might be stronger than reported. Be careful of her."

Hae Seong didn't know how he messed up everything. How? He was sure that yesterday he felt Sim Yoon-Mi's power in the dining hall. Witches, men or women gave out a strong sense of hormonal powers. Only witch hunters or *Witch Killers* can actually sense this aura. He should have felt Sim Yoon-Mi's aura.

But Hae Seong was sure to smell the same witch aura on Sim Eun-Hee last night. But then why wasn't Sim Eun-Hee a witch then? Was she? He didn't sense her aura in the morning.

Then the problem was how did Sim Yoon Mi get past him? The sleeping gas, he set yesterday was a very powerful sedative to witches. Hae Seong should have been able to feel the presence of two witches, not just one.

Or– was Sim Yoon-Mi not at the same place that he was? Hae Seong knew he kept an eye on her last night.

"Fuck. I fucking messed up. But how? Are witches able to turn off their auras?"

Witch killers had been killing witches, who had been destroying their society for centuries. Did a certain adaptation happen for the witches to turn off their auras for the witch killers to not find them anymore?

But why was he fooled by Sim Eun-Hee's aura yesterday? Was It really a simple mistake between faces?

Hae Seong finally found the courage to open the hotel room door. But...

Sim Eun-Hee was nowhere to be seen.

The window was open and the damp morning air entered the room as the curtains rocked gently with the wind. The bedsheets had been rampaged on the floor and the coffee stains were on the mattress and the carpet.

"Fuck! No, no... it better not have happened." Hae Seong looked around the hotel room once more– under the bed, behind the door, and ran out to see the window. "Fuck! Did she jump out the window?" Hae Seong screamed loudly for the world to hear. The window was big enough for anyone to creep out of. But still, the forty stories underneath them would not give anyone the confidence to jump unless they had a death wish. Did Sim Eun-Hee have a death wish? She didn't seem like the type!

She was like the person who would take a rocket launcher and take down everyone with her.

"Miss Sim! Are you here?! Miss Sim!" Hae Seong yelled at the top of his lungs. His instincts had gone wild. Then suddenly, he felt the aura of a witch. A witch?

When did a witch come here? Did a witch open the window?

"OH MY FUCKING GOD! WHY IS THE WATER SO GODDAMN COLD?!" a scream was heard from the bathroom. Hae Seong turned towards the locked bathroom doors, which were the source of the scream.

Hae Seong ran towards the bathroom door and yelled:

"Miss Sim! Miss Sim! Are you in there? Miss Sim! Can you hear me?!"

"OH SH*T! Why are these hotel showers so confusing to figure out!? What a cheap shower!?!" A response came back. And the shrieks definitely belonged to that of Sim Eun-Hee.

Hae Seong didn't know why, but he let out a sigh of relief. So, Sim Eun-Hee didn't jump out the window thank god! He almost had a heart attack.

He didn't know what to say to Shin Qiang if Hae Seong called him to say that Sim Eun-Hee had just jumped out of a forty stories building right after their conversation. Especially after their "responsibility" conversation.

He felt it again! Hae Seong turned around to the room– he swore that had just smelled the presence of a witch! It felt instinctively similar to Sim Eun-Hee's from last night. Was Sim Eun-Hee also a witch? No way– but then who would have damaged the room then?!

Was someone else here when Sim Eun-Hee was bathing and he was out? But who? Did this third-party member come for him or her?!

No– Hae Seong warned himself... he was getting ahead of himself. Hae Seong took a deep breath and decided that he will think about this after he had dealt with Sim Eun-Hee's compensation. Whoever the third party was, he needed to keep himself and Sim Eun-Hee safe from them. Or else... who knew what would happen.

"Ugh! Why is it so fucking cold? Hey psycho! Did you open that window?!" Sim Eun-Hee cursed as she came out of the bathroom. There was no such witch aura being emitted from Sim Eun-Hee's body at all.

Hae Seong then finally confirmed it: there was a third party. He had to leave this hotel right now.

"So what exactly happened after I went away?" Hae Seong asked calmly, figuring that Sim Eun-Hee was not in the mood.

"A lot actually." Sim Eun-Hee rolled her eyes, "firstly, I want my compensation;"

"Yes, we'll talk about that right now." Hae Seong said rubbing his forehead.

"Good. Now–" Sim Eun-Hee extended her hands, "now give me my fucking compensation for abduction, abuse, locking me up, and poisoning."

"The fuck did I poison you? Abuse?" Hae Seong cursed.

"You–" Sim Eun-Hee pointed at her wrist–"you grabbed me and twisted my wrist, almost choked me, sedated me, drugged me, kidnapped me, almost tortured me– you dickhead, I'll sue you for lying! And the coffee tasted like some dog shit, were you trying to kill me?!"

"Hell no! If I planned to kill you, would you be standing here– cursing or begging at my feet to spare your life? Fuck the compensation money."

"Ha? I totally forgot, your promises are just words, not heavy duties are they?" Sim Eun-Hee said angrily.

"Miss Sim! Please sit down!" Hae Seong said. "I will be responsible."

"You want me to fucking believe you? Tell that to the court right now, then I will approve!"

"I promise that no harm will come in your way for forty-eight hours. I'll be your legal guardian."

"Fuck the legal guardian– who the bloody–"

"I'll pay for all of your needs, and house you." Hae Seong said loudly over her words. "So... just... I guess trust me."

Sim Eun-Hee felt silent. She finally opened her mouth as she said:

"I'll trust you in one condition."

"What?"

"I-"

*CRASH*

*HONK* *HONK*

In a clash of three milliseconds, Sim Eun-Hee saw a car run right through the window.
