Chapter 24 - Not your baby (3)

what kind of life did he have? she pondered as she dropped her flowers on his gravestone. He was really dead, seemed like he killed himself.

She could wish him nothing but a peaceful soul rest. She used to love him, adore him to the extreme but she never could think about being married to him. What could've been the outcome of a marriage to a man she could only see the front view of. She never questioned the background, who he was, why he lived alone, why he never said anything about his family.

He started a mystery and ended the same way. There was no possible way she could find out after seven years of knowing him before he died.

Her money was given back to her, every dime he collected, he returned it all. His account was empty and then closed. He transferred all his cumulated wealth from who knows where. Did he ever win the bet he wanted? Did he hit the right jackpot? Did luck finally workout for him in the casino? She didn't know and might possibly never know.

She pushed her babies trolley back to the cab, folded it in and kept them in their sitter before she sat in the passenger seat.

It was normal to not have a basic conversation with the cab driver. All she did was pay him and he assisted in taking the babies into the house.

They were both sleeping. She was accustomed to sleepless nights as she cooed and sang to her children to keep them calm and narrow the chances of them crying.

It had been a few months since she gave birth to the two beauties. She hardly went out of her house, she only went out when she felt like visiting Bao's grave. Nothing more nothing less.

She was more of an indoor mother, she was used to every corner of the house. During the time she'd been locked up, and the time she spent walking around. She was likely to find her way around even in the darkest of the night.

She marked each day she spent without a man, she wanted it to be the same way. She. was also planning on starting a business of her own to support her children. She'd invest the money she had and reap the fruit later on in life, even though times might come that she'd possibly feel regret.

"Li Na and Li hua, I promise you a good life without a father. I'm sure we don't need whatever that is."

"Haru!" She yelled in the car, Ai jin was fed up with the way he was treating her in public both at home and in public. "I've had it okay!"

Haru was speechless, he just kept his eyes peeled on the road even though she hit him countless times.

A few minutes later, he pulled up by the edge of the road, got out of the car and opened the door "Get out!"

Ai Jin's eyes widened. It had to be a joke. How could he leave her in the middle of no where so late in the night?

"I said get out Ai Jin. Or do I have to pull you out myself?"

"I'm sorry. I'll behave"

"No, no, no" he shook his head in refusal to hear anymore of her apologies.

"The more I forgive you, the less you're liable to change so please, help yourself out."

Ai jin didn't say a word but she didn't move "I won't talk again. I swear."

Haru rolled his eyes and got back into the car. Their journey started again and it was a quiet one. Haru was finally satisfied with the silence. He put on a slow song and hummed along with it.

An hour passed and they reached the estate. He got out before her and didn't bother opening the door for his wife. He headed straight to his room and locked it.

They were married but they didn't sleep in the same room, they didn't have a single intimate moment in their love life and he made it clear that he wouldn't have any kids with her. All because he was sure Meilin would come back someday and he'd be ready.

Words couldn't explain how much he missed her, he'd pray everyday that he'd see her and that she'd be safe. He wasn't religious, neither was he a theist. All he wanted was Meilin, and the task he gave the supreme being up there was to reunite them one way or another.

Even though he was married, he had never put on his wedding ring. He only married her out of pity, pressure, and for his aunts sake. Nothing else.

Their marriage was plain. No after party, only ten guests, no food nor drinks, and surprisingly no cake.

Ai jin was depressed, she wondered why he treated her so badly. She wished the men she hired a year back were able to kill meilin. She wanted the other woman dead by all means. Funny enough, she had her address. She never thought of it until that moment.

Now she can hire someone to kill her and get rid of her body since she had no family. It would just take one single call and a day to wait for the good news. She just wanted to make sure that Haru would never see Meilin again, but he would be able to see her decayed corpse if he searched the world for her. she can assure him of that.

"Hi, Ai Jin xing speaking. I've got a job for you."

The same time the next day Haru was at a train station with his rookie secretary. Zhao Gu, a twenty one year old found himself working with his 'brother' the tag he attached to his boss.

"Brother Haru!" he waved at the man that was leaning on the wall, his head lowered and he slightly looked up as the youngster approached him.

"The train is about to leave!" He said and Haru nodded. His heart skipped a beat as he saw a familiar figure walking passed him. Everything in his sight slowed down and his heart raced faster than the normal pace of his surrounding.

He quickly placed his hand on the person and screamed "Ralph!" He said as he pulled his old time schoolfriend into a hug. "It's been a while" He said to the Asian american.

"Going to heibei too?" He asked and his friend nodded "Let's go then."

He stepped into the train and bumped into a rushing woman holding a lot of paper works. He was about to turn to take a closer look at her but a lot of people started rushing in and his view was obstructed. He stood on his toes to check who it was but she was long gone before he could and the doors automatically came to a close.

"I could've sworn that that scent was familiar..."
