Chapter 3 - Family Dinner

Fifteen long years had been passed. Today was Christmas, i.e., 25 of December.

At the Jin residence everything was beautifully updated and decorated according to the latest models designed by huge decorators. But the house lacked one thing due to which it could not be called a home from past years was warmth and love among the family.

The family patriarch in a suit and giving an imposing aura was sitting on the long dining table eating a hot chicken. This was their family diner of Christmas. Everyone from Jin family were present in the main family dinner.

Their were eight uncles of Carolina, this included cousins of her father. All were army officials with high ranks and status as well as handsome faces and were married except for one. He was the youngest and was just 35 years old. His name Hie - jin.

The rest seven have one son each who were doing boarding in army school. All of them including the seven aunts were present with their children for this year's dinner except for two people from the third generations. One was Carolina's elder brother, no one cared about him being present or not and never contacted and other one was Carolina.

Since the day, she was admitted to military after her high school, she had never come back to the mansion for Christmas or on any other occasion. It was very hard to meet her. She only came back three or four times in a year only for one or two days. She never picked their phone calls and had asked the family to text her or call her senior in times of emergency.

But as expected the family patriarch questioned Carolina's father, Hyueng Jin of her absence. "OH, Heavens!! This year's family diner is very well than last year's. But Hyueng where is your princess? Jin family's only female heir, where is she? Why is she not present for family dinner ? Has she really forgot her manners?" he asked in very imposing aura.

Since out of all the Jin family's third generation females, she was enrolled in the military. She was referred to as the only female heir. The rest were not acknowledged by the family patriarch. As he called Carolina, the female heir, the rest girls sitting on the chairs could not help but grit their teeths. They wanted to strangle Carolina to death but could not as even if they gang up against her, she would be the ones gaining the upper hand.

" No, father . Today, she has a competition so she has travelled to Shanghai for this. That's why she has not been able to show up.", Hyueng Jin could not help but reason out. He himself was angry at that girl. Was a mere competition, more important than the once and only Big family dinner.

" Big brother, everyone in the family knows the truth that Carol does not love this family and hate being in touch with us" said the second uncle.

"That's why she never comes for family dinner and always find an excuse. ", said the other one.

" Father, according to me, you shall summon that girl and expel her from family for always disobeying the family's rules and customs."

" I don't think so. Uncle, Carolina is a great soldier and has become an high official as for the captain of Drill Squad and other defensive forces. She is very young for the post and really has a lot of work and sessions to do. She does not mean to disobey the family rules . Moreover for customs she had even sacrificed her body to the country. Women of her age are fashion divas but she has never looked at such things for our customs. To expel is not right." Hei said in very defending manner.

" Stop you all! I don't need your suggestions, advices or opinions to decided whether to expel someone or not. " , Lie Jin could not help but get angry .

' Yes.. Yes.... if we expeller her then our family will loose, a captain . ', All the uncles were thinking thd same thing .

Lie Jin stood up and said, " I don't care of her being preset or not. It's good that she has gone to a competition. It will teach her something and create a network there . No more comments or suggestions." and left.

It caused a dead silence in the hall. Men did not know what to say. Moreover, women and children in the Jin family did not talk, if they were not asked to. They all just listened to the talks and words of their men and fathers.
