Dinner ended when Hayate-san, Akira's father, retired to his room with his wife. Akira mumbled finally, stood, and stretched. Grinning, I followed, but my legs turned out to be jelly. I stumbled and sat back.
"Are you drunk?" Akira asked, crouching down.
I scowled at him. "No. My feet fell asleep."
He pressed his lips together, looking up and down before he inched closer. He grabbed my sock-covered foot and massaged it. "Your cheeks are red though."
"Because it's hot in here," I mumbled, punching my left leg.
"If you say so, Reiko-senpai." He chuckled, grabbed me by the arm, and hauled me up. "Let's get you to bed."
Before I could retort, Akira silenced me with a nod to his older cousins. I shut my mouth and walked, bowing as we left the room. I hated to admit it but I totally forgot to watch my alcohol intake after Akira returned. It had been fun. Better than I anticipated.
Cold biting wind hit me on the face when we stepped out of the house. I shivered and blinked, sobering up.
"Thank you," I whispered. "Your family is awesome."
Akira said nothing. He just smiled and led me back to the inn. By the time we reached the extension building, my mind cleared even further. I noticed the lights in the next room where his cousins were staying had been shut off.
Yawning and stretching, I hobbled across the dark room into Akira's bedroom since the partitions were wide open. I stopped at the center, eyeing the inviting bed when a light hit me directly in the eyes. I shielded my face, turning my face sideways.
My gaze landed on the eyeglasses on top of the study table near the windows. I could feel Akira's gaze on me as I sauntered towards it and picked the glasses up. As I turned around I saw blue.
"Do you want me to wear it?" He smirked, taking the eyeglasses, leaning in and sliding his hands around my waist. "The yukata and the glasses, huh?"
I shuddered as his lips grazed my ears.
"Your cousins are sleeping in the next room." I backed away and swerved the other way until I hit the corner of the bed.
"It'll be fine. They'll never know anyway. I also promise Mayuki-san or anyone else for that matter won't walk in on us." He bowed his head, tilted it, and looked up with a hand on the back of his neck. "But if you really dislike it, I'll lay out the futon, and we could go to bed without doing anything."
"No fair. I want to sleep in this bed too." I plopped down and lay back, spreading my arms.
I kept my gaze on the ceiling even when the mattress creaked as Akira got in the bed. A shadow covered me as I yawned. Akira's hands pinned me.
"Want to sleep with me?" he asked.
I blinked. "As in rest with our eyes closed?"
He smirked. "Yes. Exactly that."
"In this bed of yours?"
Chuckling, Akira rolled over to my right side before he dragged me up to the pillows. He wrapped his arms around me and nuzzled his nose to my neck. "Anywhere you want."
I went rigid as my mind screamed another disregard of our rules. But it also countered that this was Akira's room, not my apartment. My body relaxed, and my eyes drooped.
Before I drifted off, I remembered thinking sleeping together fully clothed was surprisingly gratifying.
