Chapter 1 - Chapter one

" Master. Where are we going?" I ask as we trudge through the forest. However he doesn't reply, he just keeps walking until we make it to a house.

"Shift Adrian. Now." Damon demands and looks at me with a blank expression. "You have been released until someone claims you."

My eyes widen but I do as I am told. He quickly inspects my collar before speaking again, "Stay here and do not follow me Adrian."

I whimper slightly as he begins to walk off and I am left alone to my own thoughts. 'Why is he leaving me here? Why am I released? What am I supposed to do?'

I don't have anyone. Master Damon has owned me since I was young, I know I had a mother but she was raised in a lab, used specifically for breeding. So of course I never had a relationship with her. There was also some other wolves at Master's estate but they usually just had to stand watch around the house. I was more like eye candy to show off?

After sitting around on the porch of the house for a while I decide to get up and walk around. There isn't anything around here except a small town a couple miles away. Otherwise it is just the woods and the stuff on this property.

The house is averaged sized and it has a small shed in the far back of the yard. It also seems to have fenced in area with chickens and a cow. There is also a small garden that I can see.

With a frustrated sigh I walk back to the porch, looking through the window I see the house is kind of dark and gloomy but you can tell someone lives here. Why would Master Damon leave me at some random persons house though?

Plopping down onto the floor loudly, I pawed the floor in boredom. I was hungry and didn't know what to do. What if master came back? What if this was just some test to see if I was loyal?

The door opens and a woman looks down at me with a scowl. Her face held disgust as she groaned. "Why is this mutt here?" She mutters.

She looks around outside with narrowed eyes before looking back down at me, while I whine slightly. "Evelyn! Did you bring this wolf to my house?!" The woman yells to someone.

A soft voice yells back, "No Aunty!" The woman scoffs before looking back. I take it as a chance to slip into the house, between her legs and look around.

The woman shrieks, "Fuck! Evelyn grab the damned thing!" She yells at the girl who stands in front of me.

Evelyn is very petite and looked to be around fifteen or sixteen. She reaches down and grabs the scruff of my neck gently. " Come on buddy..."

I whine as she begins to walk through the house, lightly dragging me along as I twist and turn. "Evelyn put the fucker out in the back. It will run off once it realizes we wont give it anything." The woman speaks from behind us loudly.

We make it outside and Evelyn closes the backdoor gently, looking back she sees that the woman isn't paying attention to her. "Come on. I have somewhere Aunt Angelina wont see." Evelyn whispers and we walk over to the shed, which up close looks like nobody has been in it in quite a while.

She pulls out a piece of bread out of her pocket, ripping a small piece off of it and putting her hand near my mouth. "Here." I sniff it before eating it with a happy bark. I haven't ate since this morning.

Evelyn's eyes widen before she puts her hand on my mouth. "Shhh. She can still hear you." After a few seconds she walks closer to the shed, going to the back of it and sliding a piece of wood away from the wall, revealing a hole. She crawls into it before peaking her head out, looking at me. " You can stay in here. But you need to be quiet and stay hidden. If she finds out I didn't let you go she will hurt us both."

With a nod I crouch through the hole and look at the inside. It wasn't as bad as the outside, it had some blankets, books and other things. There were a few candles in the corner that were lit. Someone really could live in here if they needed to.

I lay next to her and nudge her hand. She giggles slightly in response as I roll over. With a small smile she starts to rub my belly softly. However it doesn't last long as a loud sound comes from outside. "Evelyn! Where are you!?"

I whine softly as she lightly pats me, getting up she whispers, "Shhhh. I will be back later bud." Then she crawls out and a few minutes later I could hear her voice, "It was hard to get it to run away. But I managed to scare it off."

"Good. I don't need that scoundrel causing me troubles. I already have enough to deal with." Her aunt, Angelina, Speaks with an annoyed voice as I hear them go back into the house.

Sighing softly I look around again, seeing other stuff and a pile of clothing. Maybe Evelyn had something that would fit me? Walking over to the pile I look through the clothes before shifting back into my human form.

A lot of this was men's clothing and there was clothes that would fit me, though they were a little big. Smiling I put on a pair of boxers that were at the bottom, a pair of sweats and a t-shirt. The clothing was old and worn, but clothes are just clothes.

I then decided I would await for Evelyn to return so I laid down on one of the blankets in the shed, falling quickly asleep.

Hours later I wake up to Evelyn crawling into the shed wearing tattered pajamas. She is pulling something out of her pocket when I speak up. "You don't live in the house?"

She shrieks and turns around, pointing a butter knife at me. "W-Who are you?! W-Where did the wolf go???" She questions frantically.

I stand up and look at the knife with wide eyes. "I'm Adrian. And um..... I am that wolf." I say, sort of confused that she didn't figure that out already.

Evelyn then lowers the knife and speaks gently, "Oh sorry. I just haven't really seen any actual werewolves before." Then she turns around and grabs a plate, putting the knife down. "I got you some more food!"

I thank her while grabbing the plate carefully. "My name is Evelyn, but you already probably knew that." She mumbles softly while sitting down, watching me.

"That's a pretty name, Does it mean anything?" I ask and start to eat the food she had given me.

Evelyn smiles and a small blush brushes against her pale cheeks. " Thank you. It means life."
