Chapter 124 - Portion 25: The Realization

Scott McBaran's POV

In the corner of my eyes, I saw that Karla was after the woman and I was facing my younger brother right now.

"How does it feels to have everything you ever wanted but it can be taken away from you, brother? It hurts, doesn't it?" Shawn said as I was looking at him. I was trying to keep my eyes open and I don't want anything to be lurking in the shadows.

"You need to let this obsession go, Shawn. It's not good for your health. I mean, look at you,' i said as I was looking at my brother. His hair was unkempt. His beard was long and his eyes were wild as if he was not a human after all.

"You don't know what I have found, brother. And I will never share it with you," Shawn said as I was sighing.

"It's not worth it, Shawn. You have a brighter future than this," I said as I was trying to convince him that there was another path for him. I was smiling at him before I was hearing that Conall and the others were hugging their wives altogether.

Are you alright, my love?"

"Ari, thank goodness,"

"Lyana, oh, thank the Lord that you're unharmed,"

The whispers were distracting as I was trying to confront my brother without shedding any blood but it was bloody hard to do so when they were lovey-dovey in the com right now. I mean, I can hear the moans and kisses right now.

"Hmm, mmm," I cleared my throat before I was looking at Shawn. He was confused but I don't mind that right now.

"Don't you see what was happening around here?" I asked him as he was smirking at me.

"Oh, brother. The real question is, don't you see what you can do once you own the teleportation formula? It will change the world and you were like the God of Time himself," Shawn said as he was speaking of Kronos, the Greek God of Time.

I have always known that he was fascinated by him.

"But what will you do once you got it? Would you let go of the only thing that will keep you together all this time?'' I asked him as Shawn was furrowing his eyebrows at me.

"What do you mean?"

"I think the real question is, you don't even know what you have until it's gone, wasn't it?" I asked as Shawn was looking around. I smirked before he was becoming frantic when I know that my woman was chasing after his woman.

"Karina? Karina, answer me!" He shouted before I was tackling him down. I can see that Shawn was distracted but he was not like this when I left him one year ago, in pursuit of moving on from Karla.

I know how it feels.

"I told you it will hurt even more when you take her for granted," I said as I was holding him down before Shawn was frantic even more.

"No, let me go! I want Karina. Karina!" He shouted before I saw someone was walking down from the stairs. It was Karla and Karina was nowhere to be found.

"You bitch! What did you do to her?!" Shawn asked Karla before my woman was looking at me then at my younger brother.

"Huh, how uncanny," she said as she was looking at both of us.

"What is?" Katrina asked as I was looking at the women before the guys were helping me to strain my brother.

"Let me go! I want Karina," Shawn said as I was handcuffing his hands before Conall was putting some sleeping dose into his system. Instantly, he was asleep as Edmond and Lucas were holding him.

"Well, it looks like the mission was a success after all," Edmond said as Lucas was rolling his eyes.

"No, it was not. Not when Addington was not calling it as a success yet," Lucas reminded us that Addington's instruction was very clear to take down the terrorist that has been running havoc across Europe.

"Ugh, I always thought that the old man was not involved. But I guess that old geezer will always breathing down our necks from time to time," Edmond said before I was looking at the figure that was approaching us from the shadows.

"Who is the old geezer again?" Addington asked as Edmond was cursing under his breath. He should have known better than to gossip about our patron slash godfather.

"No one, sir," Edmond said as he was smiling at Addington. He arched his eyebrow at Edmond before he snapped his fingers and the other agents were filling the warehouse.

"It seems that you make quite the team after all. Even though you fail when you were younger," Addington said as he was looking at me. I rolled my eyes at him.

"Well, I will be taking it from here. You guys will have to get out of here before we blast this building off," Addington said as I was looking at Karla and she was smiling at me.

"Thank God, I was waiting for you to say that. I think me and my wife will bid you adieu. So, ciao guys," Edmond said before Lucas was walking to his wife and he was excusing himself from the crowd. Only Conall, me, and our women were left with Addington.

"Sir, if I may?" Conall started before Addington was nodding at him.

"We have known that there was this book with schematics and all the information on the followers of Vaughn Kuznetsov. I think it will be useful for us to track them down so that tonight's event will not be repeating itself," Conall said as he was pulling his wife to his side. Addington was looking at them before he was turning to look at me.

"McBaran, I think this is your job to make sure that there will be no other accident like this," Addington said as he was turning his back to us before I was looking at Karla and she blinked at me.

"I think we might have to go now. I am exhausted," Kat said before Conall was being pulled by his wife and I was standing there with Karla looking at me.

"So," we both said simultaneously. Then we laughed.

"Well, that was something else that I learned about you tonight," Karla said as she was looking around the warehouse. The other agents were scanning for evidence before I was pulling her out of the warehouse as the night breeze was hitting our faces.

"When will you be leaving for the next assignment then?'' Karla asked me after a while when we were standing next to the car that was given to us to get out of here together. I slid my hands into my pockets before I shrugged.

"In the next few days, I guess. Why?" I asked her as she was looking at the warehouse before she turned to look at me and crossing her hands.

"So, you will be gone then," she whispered as I was turning to look at her. She smiled weakly before she was sighing.

"Come on. I think we need to get out of here before anyone sees us," Karla said as I was moving to the passenger side and opened the door for her. She thanked me before I closed the door and I went to my side. I slid inside before I started the ignition and I drove us out of here.

The drive to the motel was silent before I remembered that the motel was damage and we have nowhere to go. Then I had a new message. It was from Addington.

He instructed me to stay at Giovanni's hotel that I rented out before I was turning the car around and Karla was looking at me but she was not saying anything.
