Karla Kuznetsov's POV
I was smiling as I was approaching Scott. He was looking around when there was no one around right now. I was the last one that was leaving the facility before he was dragging me away from the parking lot.
We were entering the abandoned aisle that was in the streets. My back was hitting the wall before I was looking at Scott who was pissed that made me even confused right now. I was looking at him, staring at his gorgeous face before I was waiting for his explanation.
Which never came, mind you.
"Okay, I think I waited far too long for you to tell me what was going on right now. You just came here and just stared at me for like 10 fucking minutes," I said as I was glaring at Scott. He scoffed before he was crossing his hands at me.
"It's not cute when you cursed, Kiska,"
"Then, tell me what the damn was this all about? Why are you looking pissed and you are dragging me into an abandoned alley?" I asked him before he was staring at me. Okay, I am done here.
You know what, I am not a mind reader and I will not be having this moment with you. We're not even going out or anything," I said as I was about to leave before Scott was trapping me inside his arms.
"Is that so?"
"Yes, and if you don't move, I will fucking break your arms," I said as I was looking at Scott. He was looking at me before he smirked.
"I see. Let's have a look at it then, shall we?" He asked as I was blinking at him. Was he seriously asking me to break his hands right now?
"Are you insane?" I asked him as Scott was arching his eyebrow at me.
"Which part?"
"All of it! All of this?! What are you trying to say to me, Scott? Can you just spell it out and I think I have to get going before I was late for my—"
"Escort profession? You know, I don't know why are you doing that nasty job anyway," he said before I snapped my head at him. How dare he was judging me when he did not know anything about me.
"You don't know me, so you don't get to judge, McBaran," I said as I was feeling the anger that was coming and boiling inside my blood right now.
"Is that so? I thought I know you better than this, Karina, but of course, I have always known you as someone else," he said as he was staring at me before I was blinking at him. What did he just say? Someone else? Did he know?
"What do you mean?" I asked him as I was looking at him before I was trying to make sure that my cover was not blown yet. I need to make sure that I was not being discovered by this man that might be related to Alan.
"Nothing. I must be confused with someone else, sorry," he said before he was stepping away from me. He sighed as I was looking at his retreating figure before I felt something inside my chest. Is that what I would feel if I ever felt something deeper for someone?
I never knew since I never had a chance to explore that part of me.
"Scott…" I was calling after him before he was going away. I don't know why but I think I have to follow him. And I did as I was running after him outside of the abandoned alley.
"Scott, wait up. What do you mean you confused me with someone else?" I asked him before he was not even answering my question or stopping. I was looking at his behind before I was stepping in front of him and he stopped.
"Karina, not now. I cannot handle this right now," he said as I was looking at him. What does he mean by that?
"What do you mean?"
"Move and get lost," he said as he was stepping away from me. I blinked a few times before I scoffed. I looked at his behind before I was stepping in front of him again. This time, I was holding his arms to make sure that he was looking at me in the eye.
"Tell me the fuck is wrong and we can sort this out. I know that you wanted to talk to me about something but you were holding back. Why?" I asked him before he shook his head.
"It was nothing. I don't have enough sleep last night that I was not thinking straight," Scott confessed before I was releasing his arms before he was moving away from me. I was standing there in the middle of the parking lot before I turned to look at Scott's car that was driving away from me.
Away from my life.
Scott McBaran's POV
I was walking away from the honeysuckle scent that I have been dreaming about since I was meeting her in front of the elevator the other day. I did not realize that Karla was smelling like that when I first met her at the wedding.
Maybe I was not that observant before but now, I was.
I was unlocking the car before I was opening the door and I was sliding inside the driver's seat. I was starting the ignition before I was shifting the gear into D. I was looking in the rearview mirror that Karina was staring at me.
Oops, I mean Karla. Karla was staring at me with her green eyes as the sunset orange hair was blowing by the wind. She tucked her hair behind her ears before I was sighing as I was moving out of the parking lot.
I don't think I can control my anger when I know all I wanted to do was to hug her and kissed her until her legs gave up. But, of course, I will not be doing that since I have something sinister in my mind to make sure that Karla knows how much it hurt when she left me one year ago.
It's time for payback time.
Speaking of which, I was looking at the invitation that was coming from Noah Vork. He was one of our friends and one of the companies that Conall, Edmond, Lucas, and I invested to make sure that his jewelry empire succeed. I think we can have a formal introduction with Karla as well.
I was smirking before I was picking up the phone and called Conall. I know that he was staying upright now when it was like 3 hours different from Italy in Scotland. One ring and then he was answering the phone.
"So, did you have any information for us?" He asked me as I was rolling my eyes at him. I know that he was worried about his sister in law but not like this.
Not when I know Karla was shutting everyone off from her life right now.
"Easy, Reid. I have good news and bad news," I said as I was hearing him sighed. I think he did not like it when I said that I was saying the bad news.
"So, which one do you want to hear first?" I asked him as he was thinking about it.
"Bad news first,"
"Okay, I found Karla but she doesn't want to be found. I have made contact with her but I don't think that she wanted to be known by anyone at all," I said before Katrina was shouting in the phone that I have to put it away from my ear since her voice was screaming from the phone.
"What do you mean by that?!"
"Well, it's what I said. She was having a fake identity right now and I don't think she wanted me to blow her cover. I think she was doing something with that identity right now," I said as Katrina scoffed.
"Or she was trying to get away from me. I know how she thinks, Scott. She did not want to be responsible in her life right now that's why she was disguising herself," Katrina said before Conall was talking over it.
"And the good news?"
"Well, I think I have a way for you guys to meet her. Did you remember Noah Vork? He will be holding a grand masquerade ball and I think we can use that platform for you guys to meet her," I said as I was gripping the steering wheels.
"That would be awesome—"
"Under some restrict instruction from me of course. I will ask her to come to the ball with me and you guys have to disguise yourself so that she would not run away," I said as I heard awkward silence. I was waiting for their approval before they sighed.
"Okay, you have a deal," they said in unison before I was smirking.
"Okay, here's what you need to do…"
