Chapter 106 - Portion 7: The Dinner

Karla Kuznetsov's POV

I was being shown to the table with Scott putting his hand on my lower back. If I don't know any better, he was trying to tell every patron that was inside the restaurant right now that I belonged to him.

And I did not hate the idea. What is wrong with me?!

I was smiling as Scott was pulling the chair for me to sit before he was sitting opposite of me. I was trying to not show my nervousness before Scott was scooting closer to me that my feet touched his. We turned to look into each other's eyes before he smiled at me.

"The menu for tonight, sir, ma'am," the host said before Scott was looking at the menu and I was looking at it as well. I don't think that I would be eating some more but right now, the chicken cacciatore sounds delicious.

"What are you having, honey?" Scott asked me before he put down his menu. I don't know if I was allowed to order my food but I think I will give this one a try. Besides, I was not being paid for my service that is counted as a real date.

Right?

I turned to look at the host that was waiting for me to order. I smiled before I was closing my menu and said what I wanted for my second dinner of the day.

"I would have one chicken cacciatore, please. With red wine, thank you," I said as Scott was handling the menu to the host as well as I did.

"And I will have a filet mignon with red wine as well. That will be all for now," Scott said before the host nodded and went away. I was looking at the interior design of the restaurant before I set my eyes on the garnet orbs that were looking at me. I blushed for a while before I was clearing my throat.

"So, now that we are in a setting that was set for us to get to know each other better, why don't we do just that, yeah?" Scott asked me as the host was coming with the selection of red wine for Scott to choose. He said that we wanted the Bordeaux and I think I agreed with him.

"So, Karina, what you do for a living? I don't think that being an escort was the real profession if you asked me," he said as I was looking at him. I scoffed before I was rolling my eyes at him.

"And why would I be telling you all that if you don't want to know what my job is. What if I was to tell you that escort was my source of income?" I asked him before he smiled at me. I don't think that he would smile at me, much less just shaking his head when I know that some of the men that were dating me back in the day would snap at me.

I mean, I was being an escort, not a sex slave.

They thought that I was giving other services like sex as an exchange for pleasure but I was not that kind of woman. I was doing this purely because I was to be undercover to find human trafficking and bring them down.

And I don't think Scott would be that ring leader. He was too a gentleman.

"Okay, fair enough. But I don't think that you are though, just to prove my point," Scott said before he was touching me with his foot on my legs and I jerked back. I was widening my eyes at him before I was scooting away from him. Scott chuckled.

"See what I mean? A real escort would not get away from a real handsome hunk like me to touch them. They liked them," Scott said as I was narrowing my eyes at him.

"Even if I was to be an escort, I don't want you to touch me at all. I have my own rules about that. If you want to touch me, well, that was another story," I said as I was smirking at him before Scott was arching his eyebrow. Then he smirked.

"Oh, tell me,"

"I will not since you are a stranger to me. Why should I tell you anything?" I said before he smiled as he was turning to look at the host that was popping a bottle of Bordeaux before he was pouring it into our glasses. Scott nodded at him before he went away after saying that our dinner will come shortly.

"Well, one, I am not a stranger to you, Karina. I know your name and I know what is your profession is, as you stated. So, is that not enough for us to get to know better since I was treating you this fancy dinner?" He asked before I was rolling my eyes and crossing my hands at him.

"No, this will not cut it. I don't want to be pampered like an escort that I was supposed to smile and wave as people were walking to talk and greet us. You can do better than that, Scott," I said before he was staring at me. I was being stared down with his garnet eyes and I shivered.

Not in a bad way, but it was good enough that I would like to know him better. And I wished we were right now but it was too good to be true.

"Okay, let just say that we were stranger right now. We get to do over the introduction between us. I start," Scott said before he was clearing his throat as he was smiling at me before he was extending his hand to me.

"Hi, my name is Scott McBaran. Nice to meet you, Miss…" he said before all the thoughts were coming in my head stopped.

McBaran.

That was the name of Alan's last name. Is he…was he one of his siblings? I blinked a few times before I was looking at his hand and I was turning to look at his face. He was not the man that I knew as Alan a year ago.

He did not have a beard.

His hair was short.

And most importantly, his name is Scott. So, he must not be related to Alan.

"So, what is your name? Don't leave me hanging here," Scott said as he was chuckling at my stunned reaction. I cleared my throat before I was taking his hand. Electrics were coming through my veins before I was sucking in a breath.

No, he was not Alan, he was Scott, he told me as much.

"Hi, Scott. Nice to meet you, my name is Karina Kazakov," I said as I was looking at him before Scott was smiling at me as we released each other's hand as the host brought our dinner. I was looking at the chicken cacciatore as my mouth watered.

"Enjoy your meal, Bon appetite," the host said as he walked away and I was looking at the food before I was turning to look at my date for the night. Scott smiled before he was picking up the knife and the fork as I did the same.

"Bon appetite, Karina," he said as he was cutting some meat and put it in his mouth as his garnet eyes were looking at me with intensity.

I was looking at my food again as I was cutting the chicken into small pieces before I was forking one and put it in my mouth. The food was much better than the one that I had with my patron earlier. I was moaning before I was swallowing the chicken and I turned to look at Scott.

He was staring at me with desire in his eyes.

I turned to take the wine and sipped it. I was not looking at Scott as I know that he was staring at me. I never had this kind of attention before when I was learning to be a KGB agent. I was supposed to blend in, not to attract any attention.

But I think I was doing that right now with this hunk of a man.

I put the glass down before I was dabbing my mouth. Growing up with a strict father with the rules of etiquette was like our holy grails, no wonder that I wanted to get out of that household when I was old enough to join the KGB.

I sighed before I was turning to look at Scott. He was still staring at me with his garnet eyes, calculating and waiting like a viper that was ready to strike. Then I cannot take it any longer as I was glaring murderously at him.

"What?" I asked him before he was blinking a few times. I was not having this but right now, Scott was getting on my nerves.

"Sorry?"

"You are staring at me. I don't like it. It's rude if you must know," I said before Scott chuckled at me. I grimaced at him.

"Sorry, honey. I was not staring at you. I was merely thinking. There was something in my mind lately," he said as I was arching my eyebrow at him.

Do not ask the question. Do not ask the question.

But of course, I have to know what was bothering him even I know that we're not that close.

"What's the matter?'' I asked Scott before he was turning to look at me. Then he smiled.

"Sometimes, Karina, it's best if you don't know anything," Scott said as he was sipping on his wine.

Okay, I will skin him alive right now, in front of these patrons in Devereaux's Dine.
