Chapter 97 - Portion 31: The Resignation

Lucas Dow's POV

I have been trying to put together the evidence that I have so far as well as from Ari. She stated that the Greek heiress was the rightful heir to the Citrine of Greece. And I have to tell Harriet as well about that thing. And right now, he was not happy with the discussion that we were having.

"What do you mean we have to give the Citrine to the Interpol? It is ours," he said as he was looking at me before I was putting the warrant down for the inspection of the gemstone.

"I'm afraid that I cannot do that. I have the warrant here and there was a valid claim on the Citrine as well. I was just doing my job," I said to Harriet before he was rubbing his temple.

"Is that why you're eager to get rid of it? Because it has someone waiting for it?" Harriet asked me as I was shrugging at him.

"Well, it could be one of the reasons," I said as I was smiling at him. He arched his eyebrow before I was smiling at him.

"Look, all I know is that there was a claim on the Citrine of Greece, and when we find the rightful heir, we will tell you and you can discuss it over dinner or something," I said before Harriet was rolling his eyes at me.

"First of all, we don't do dinner, we do luncheon and it was not always that we get the Citrine of Greece in its home country. I bet this heiress was not even Greek," Harriet said before I was smiling at him.

"Maybe, but rest assure, the address said that it was for one Princess of Levakis," I said before I was standing up from the chair before I was taking the box that was containing the citrine.

"It was a pleasure doing business with you," I said as I was shaking my hand with Harriet. He scoffed at me before he was putting his hands in his pockets.

"Well, I will be expecting that name, Dow,"

"You got it," I said before I was leaving with the box. I was holding it tight but I was not giving it away as I know that The Woman in Gold will not be taking it from me.

Since she was my wife after all.

I was smiling before I was sliding into the car. I have left Ari to her own business since she has something to do today. And I have something important to drop off for Addington as well. I was whistling before I was speeding off to the drop off point that Addington will be meeting me.

"I thought I have to wait for another year to see you married but I guess Greece woman has something on you, isn't it? So, when can I meet this lucky woman that you called her your wife now?" Addington said as I was getting out of the car before I saw Scott was behind him. I nodded at him and he nodded back before he smirked.

"It seems that married life suits you, Dow," Scott said before I was smiling wickedly at him.

"And when will it be your turn? I heard that someone was already involved with a lady," I said before Scott was glaring at me. Addington was chuckling before I was giving him the evidence and the box as well.

"So, this is it? You're retiring from the agency?" Scott asked me as I was smiling at him.

"Well, what can I say? Greece changed me,"

"Easy for you to say. Italy did nothing to me at all," Scott said before I was patting his back.

"I think you just got unlucky, that's all," I said before he scowled at me.

"Enough. I know that someday Scott will be married as well, like the rest of you," Addington said before Scott whispered to me.

"It seems that he makes it was his mission to get us married this year. But I will not succumb to his will anymore," Scott said as I was looking at him, arching my eyebrow.

"Are you sure about that? I don't want you to suffer when you know what Addington can do," I said as Scott smirked at me.

"Don't worry. I have the perfect plan for it after all,"

"Okay, if you say so," I said as I was looking at the sun. I will have to get to Ari as well.

"I need to go now. I have some other stuff to be done with," I said before Addington and Scott chuckled at me.

"You mean someone?" Scott said before I was rolling my eyes as I was sliding into the car. I rolled down the window before Addington was saying something.

"For your last act as an Interpol agent I would love for you to meet the heiress so that she can thank you personally," Addington said before his eyes were shining. I know something was fishy when he was being nice right now.

"Okay, text me when you set the date and location. Maybe I will come then," I said as I was rolling up my window and sped out of the place as I saw that Scott and Addington were smiling at each other.

"I wonder what they were talking about," I mumbled before my heart was blooming as I was getting closer and closer to my love, Arianna Contos.

Arianna Contos' POV

"Please, please, please. I beg of you Tomas, I need her to be my manager when I was not around. And you know why I want her. She is the best candidate for that position rather than being a receptionist," I said as I was crossing my hands at him as he was smirking at me.

"You begged of me but your stance says otherwise,'' he said as I was rolling my eyes at him.

"Of course, I was not having the best time right now. My husband was not home and I am here stuck with you to discuss MY hotel that you're managing right now,"

"And whose idea was it to leave it to my hand? I think I heard someone distinctively begged me as well to let her go abroad,"

"Okay, fine. Whatever. But I want Alexandra to be the manager. She had a degree in hotel management and I know she will be the right candidate for it," I said before Tomas was cursing under his breath. I was smirking inwardly as I know why he was being like that.

"So, it settled then," I said as I was getting up from the chair before Tomas was looking at me.

"So soon?"

"My husband texted me that he was done and I think I have done my part as the REAL owner of the hotel," I said as I was smiling at my cousin. He was not happy at all.

"Fine but you still need my funding," he said before I was smiling wickedly at him. Maybe he forgot that after I married, I will get access to my inheritance.

Which my husband has no idea about.

I just got back from meeting with my family's solicitor and I was happy to know that he was happy for me to finally get married.

And to top it off, a foreign gentleman as well.

I think he was trying to say that I have to remain dignified even when I was no longer significant in the Greek monarchy. I sighed before I was walking toward the door.

"What about the Citrine?" Tomas asked me as I just smiled at him before I was winking at him.

"It will be a surprise, and to say the least expected as well," I said before I was out of the office and I was making my way to the lobby before I was looking at the phone as it was ringing.

It was the person that I have been waiting

"Hello, sir. I hope you don't have any trouble finding my gemstone," I said as I was making my way to the front door before I stepped outside of the building. I was hailing for a cab before I was getting inside one and I went home.

"Well, it was not hard since the agent that was involved was getting attached to the gemstone," he said as I was smiling. I was looking at my citrine engagement ring and wedding band.

Yeah, I think I know how to get very involved with something much deeper level than the professional ones.

"So, when we'll be meeting then?" I asked as I was looking at the familiar sight of my apartment and I was looking at my husband's rental car before I was paying for my fare and I got out of the taxi.

"How about this Friday? The agent was retiring and I think it will be good for him to celebrate it as well as the return of the Citrine of Greece to the rightful owner," he said as I was walking toward the front door and I was looking at Lucas who was waiting for me at the front door.

"Sounds wonderful. See you then," I said as I was ending the call when Lucas was arching his eyebrow at me.

"Work?"

"Something like that. Smells delish. What are you cooking?" I asked as I went inside before I kissed my husband on the lips.

"I made lunch. I was hoping that we could celebrate for my resignation and we can hit the sack later," Lucas said before he was waggling his eyebrows at me. I laughed before I was going to the kitchen.

"Don't mind if I do then,"

"Great. Let's eat then I will have my dessert on a silver platter," Lucas whispered before I was blushing. I think I don't mind this kind of relationship after all.

And Lucas was in for a surprise of his life as well.
