Lucas Dow's POV
I was cursing under my breath when I was looking at Ari right now. She was frightened but I will not let her be that way. Not when I was by her side.
"Look, Ari. You have to get to safety and stay in the crowd. I have to go look for the stuff that was happening there. Can you do that?" I asked Ari as she was nodding at me. I was about to leave before she held my hand.
"Please be careful," she said as I was looking at her. It has been so long since anyone cared about me and I think this time, it will stay. And so I did what I have been meaning to tell her the moment I laid my eyes on her at the airport when I arrived in Greece.
I pulled her into my arms and kissed her delicate mouth.
Ari has been expecting this since last night when we have to stop because of interruption. But I wondered if she would stop me if her friend did not interrupt us last night, we would go further. And I know for a fact that Ari would let me.
I released her before Ari was licking her lower lips, tasting my lips there before. I was kissing her forehead as I was getting out of her hands.
"Stay with the crowd," I reminded her for the last time.
"I will," and with that, Ari was getting to safety while I will be inspecting the cause of it.
I was rushing between the crowd when I was looking around. I did not see Harriet anywhere as The Citrine of Greece has been recovered and was put into a safe for safekeeping and of course, to conceal it from Chrysi Gynaika.
I was looking around when I did not expect the elusive thief would be making her appearance soon. My hand was on my pistol as I was looking around the museum before I was instructing the guards to go around and make patrol of the gems.
I was walking by myself when I felt the hair on my nape stood tall and something was moving in the shadows. I was pointing the gun at the shadows as I don't see any movement.
Then, there was something else coming at me.
I was knocked down on my butt as I was looking at the person that was standing tall in front of me.
Black pants.
Gold shirt.
Gold mask.
The Woman in Gold was in front of me as I saw her red lips were smirking at me. I scrambled away from her as I was standing up and pointing at her with my pistol.
Wait, where is it?!
"Looking for this, mister?" The thief said as she was holding my gun as I was clenching my hands into fists. Even if I don't have my gun, I will fight with my bare hands if I have to.
I will protect that Citrine no matter what.
"What have you done?" I asked as the Woman in Gold was not afraid of me. It was because I was weaponless and she was not afraid of me when she was twirling the gun in her hands.
"Hmm, it seems that I have come at the right moment after all," she said before she was moving toward the gem as she was examining it. Thank goodness the Citrine of Greece was not around when this thief would have the time to get it into her sneaky hands.
"Ah, you must be thinking that the Citrine was safe," she said as she chuckled at me. I was gripping my fists tighter before I remembered what happened 4 years ago. I was a complete fool back then. But now, I was ready.
"You will not get away with this," I said before I was looking at something or anything, that I can use against her. Woman or not, I will knock her down if I have to.
"What? I believe I already did. I did have your gun right here," she said before she was holding it in the air, and then she flipped her hands and it was gone now.
"And now, where is it?"
"You're stalling," I said as the Woman in Gold was smirking at me.
"Am I?" She asked me before she was walking around me. I just realized that something was wrong.
Something was wrong. It was too quiet and I know what she had done to the guards.
"What have you done?" I asked her again before she only glanced at me as she was moving around the room. She seems to be in no hurry before she was picking something up and examine it. It was a garnet but not that fancy after all.
I know what color she liked anyway.
"Nothing. I was simply having a conversation with my supposed captor." She said as she put the garnet down before I was staring at her. She smirked.
"What? You don't believe me?"
"It's hard to believe when one of us is a thief,"
"At least I am not a liar. Or would you think of me like that as well?" She said as I was clenching my jaws. She did have a point there.
"I wish you no harm, detective. I will simply take what was mine and I will be on my merry way," she said as I was shaking my head at her.
"No can do, princess. It did not belong to you," I said as she was arching her eyebrow at me. I see her neat eyebrow was showing under the mask as she was crossing her arms at me. I was staring at her before she sighed.
"You don't know anything,"
"I know enough to say that you are on the wrong side of the law and I was tired of chasing you in this endless circle," I said as she was tilting her head. Then, she had the nerve to smirk at me.
Damn her!
"My, aren't you being honest now, detective? I can hardly say that I am not pleased with you chasing my tail but I won't lie. It keeps it intriguing for me to steal again." She said before she was moving as I was following her gesture. I tried to keep our distances but it seems hard when I know that my 4 years of suffering were right in front of me right now.
Chrysi Gynaika, my sworn enemy.
I was looking at her petite figure when I noticed that she was in great shape indeed.
Her tiny waist.
Her long, brunette hair that was French braided behind her back.
Her long, shapely legs.
Her firm ass.
Wait, why am I looking at my enemy's ass right now?!
I shook my head that was filling with stuff that I don't want to think about. She was an enemy, not to be considered as someone's lover.
But if she had someone, that guy would be lucky. Or a woman. I don't know her preference anyway.
I was looking at the elusive thief before I saw the yellow glistening in the room. She was trying to inch closer to that thing as I know what was her plan now.
She tried to distract me by talking so that she can get the gem that she aimed for the longest time.
The Citrine of Greece.
As if she read my mind, she was dashing through the room for the citrine. I was quick in the reflexes that I went after her. I have to stop her from taking what was not hers. And that gem belonged in the museum as Harriet claimed it.
"Not so fast,'' I shouted before she smirked at me as she was holding a hook device. Well, maybe she was well prepared than me for this thieving.
"Try to catch me then," she said as she was shooting the hook up and she was swinging from the side of the room to the location of the citrine. I was gritting my teeth before I felt something sharp inside my pocket.
Of course, my Swiss knife!
I took it out before I was throwing toward the rope to release the Woman in Gold who was flying across the room. The rope snapped as the knife cut through. She was dropping to the floor before she was hitting the glass case that has something in them, which I don't know about.
"Urgh!" She grunted before she was standing up from the shattered glass. I can see that she was bleeding where there were red spots on her shirt and some blood were running down her arms.
"You will pay for that,"
"Then, be my guest," I said before the Woman in Gold was coming at me with all her might. I was ready to take her before she was sliding down to the floor and knocked me off under my feet.
"Sucker!"
She shouted before she was coming to the citrine. I was flipping on my feet before I was running toward her and when she was touching the citrine, I was holding her waist.
Her tiny waist fit in my arms.
"Argh!" She screamed when we were tumbling down. Weird when we did not land on something hard which I know the floor was made off. But the last thing I know, I was not in the museum as lights were filling the room and we have vanished into thin air.
Damn it!
