Arianna Contos' POV
I was leaving the room when I entered my room and Jenny was scowling at me.
"What?" I asked her as I was taking the phone that she handed to me. I was looking at the number of missed calls and who was it. It was Tomas. I wondered why he called.
"Care to explain?" Jenny asked me before I turned to look at her. I was arching my eyebrow before I was shaking my head.
"I don't know what are you talking about," I said as I was texting my cousin about what he wanted to tell me when he left 10 missed calls just now.
"Okay, first you were going to sneak into his room and then you immediately kissed him. Ari, what were you thinking? He's the enemy," Jenny said as I was furrowing my eyebrows at her before I was shaking my head.
"You know that's not true,"
"Was it? I see it with my own eyes, Ari. I know when someone was interested in the other and the other reciprocates the feeling as well,'' she said before she was crossing her hands in front of her chest.
"Same as you? You know that's not true," I said as I know Jenny has a different experience when it comes to Love. That's why she tried to talk me out of it.
"Don't make this about me, we're talking about you," she hissed at me as I was rolling my eyes at her.
"Not everyone was like that douche. You know that" I said before Jenny's eyes flashed with hurt. I know that I have hit a nerve but I have to remind her that not every guy has bad intentions like her ex. She sighed.
"You know what, it's getting late. I see you around," she said as I was hearing the beep of my phone. It was a text from Tomas.
"Okay, have a safe trip," I said as Jenny hugged me before she was out of my room and the hotel that I was staying in. I sighed before I was opening the message from my cousin.
T: Have you heard?
A: About what?
T: There's been a development of The Citrine of Greece. They will display it during the Grand Opening tomorrow night. Isn't it exciting? You get to see it!
Dread was filling my body as I know what that means. It means that someone found the Citrine of Greece in the basement that I have hidden it.
I sighed before I was replying to my cousin with fake excitement.
A: Really?! Now that's something that I will look forward to.
I sent it and I was throwing the phone onto the bed before I went to the computer and logged in. I was entering the tracking number of the Citrine that I gathered before I hid it. I was looking at it and pinpointed the location.
"Damn it," I cursed before I was looking at the beeping dot on the map. It was indeed in the National Athens Museum. I sighed before I was rubbing my face.
"It looks like I have to come out and play after all tomorrow," I said before I was looking at the wardrobe that has my special outfit for the night.
Time to play the wild card.
Lucas Dow's POV
I was brushing my hair and fixing my tie. It was time for the Gala and I will be escorting Arianna with me in my arms. I was giddy with this and I cannot wait for the night to end as well. I was looking at the mirror for one last time before I was out of the room and I went to knock on Ari's door that located next to me.
I waited as I was fixing my cuff links before the door opened and I was looking at the high heels that she was wearing before my eyes traveled upward.
"Ready?" Her sweet voice was filling my eardrum as I was taking in the sight of the Goddess in front of me right now.
She was putting on a long sleeves dress that puffed out and she was putting on her hair on an intricate braid that suited her face well. She stepped out of the room before she locked it and she was arching her eyebrows at me.
"What is it? Was my dress wrong for the occasion?" Ari asked me as I was blinking when I saw her red lips were speaking at me. I cleared my throat before I was taking her hand and kissed her knuckles.
"You look lovely, my darling," I said before Ari blushed. She smiled weakly as I was leading her away from the door and we were waiting for the elevator to arrive after I punched the button.
"You too. I never see you in a suit before," Ari said as I was putting my hands on her lower back as we were inside the elevator and I pushed the lobby button. I smiled.
"Well, I tried my best,"
"And it was. I love it," Ari said before I was looking at her. She was smiling at me and when I was about to lean for a kiss, the elevator dinged and there was someone that was standing in front of it.
"Oh, sorry. I did not mean to interrupt," Alexandra, the receptionist was staring at us before I felt the blood was coming to my cheeks. I cleared my throat before Ari was stepping out of the elevator and asked to speak with Alexandra for a while.
"May we talk please?" Ari said as I was stepping out of the elevator. Alexandra nodded before she went with Arianna for a talk. I was waiting for them before I saw that receptionist's face lit up and Ari was patting her hands. Then, Alexandra was hugging her.
I saw the smile on Ari's face as she was making her way toward me. I was offering my hand at her and she took it as we were walking out of the lobby.
"What are you guys talking about? Alexandra seems happy,'' I said as I was ushering Ari to the rented car that I got for this occasion. It was nothing actually, just a BMW sport in silver.
"Oh, I don't know you will be driving to the event," Ari said as I was opening the door for her. I smirked.
"Well, are you surprised?" I asked her before she smiled at me as I helped her to slide inside the car.
"You are full of surprises, Mr. Lucas Dow," she said before I closed the door and I went to the driver's seat and turned on the engine. Then, I was looking at the rearview mirror before I shifted the gear into D and sped off from the sidewalk to the museum.
"I hope you don't pay to much for this car," Ari said as I was smirking at her. I was looking at the road before I saw the glistening light of the museum for its grand opening night.
"It was nothing," I said before I was parking the car at the front of the lobby before a valet was coming at me. I was looking at him before I nodded and I went to the passenger side and I was opening the door for Ari.
"Thank you," she said as she took my hand and we were inside the museum. I was looking at the crowds that were gathering before Harriet, the museum director was looking at me.
"There you are! I thought you might be gone for the night," Harriet said as I was looking at Ari. She was smoothing her dress before she was smiling at the director.
"Harriet, good evening," I said before he excused us as I was looking at Ari. I hated to leave her alone. I don't want any males to be near her. But she smiled at me and my heart sank.
"It's fine. You go do your work and I will be mingling around, asking for our patrons to keep supporting the museum," she said before I was kissing her knuckles.
"I will be back,"
"And I will be waiting, Luke," she whispered before my heart was soaring. She never called me that before. I smiled as I was moving away with Harriet. I turned back for one last time before I was out of Ari's sight.
"What was it?"
"Remember about that odd-looking box that we found in the basement?" Harriet asked me before we were out of the crowd and he was ushering me toward a podium.
"Guess what was in it?"
"I don't know. Just tell me already since you're so eager to tell," I said as I was looking at Harriet when he revealed something that made my heartbeat increased.
"I never will see it with my own eyes but here it was. The Citrine of Greece," Harriet said as the yellow gemstone was glistening in the dim light. Fuck! Now I know that there was a chance Chrysi Gynaika will come.
"And you told the press that you will be displaying this?" I asked as I was looking at the director. He beamed.
"Yes! Isn't exciting? I wonder what the crowd will think after this," he said as I was clenching my jaws.
I guess the crowd was not the only one that will be excited to know about this.
