Lucas Dow's POV
I was sighing when Edmond was hanging up on me. I don't think that he would be brooding when he got a perfect wife in his arms now. I was the witness for their wedding and I was stuck here to find the culprit of The Citrine of Greece.
"Dow," my captain asked for me when he finished interrogating Pierre Vouivre, The Louvre director as I know that he was not involved with this kind of a mess.
It was not his style anyway, that guy was rich as fuck.
"Yes, sir?" I asked as I was putting my phone inside my pocket before the captain was giving me a dossier.
"I think you better take this one," he said as I was looking at the dossier and took it. It was heavy but what was inside left me speechless.
The Woman in Gold.
I was looking at the picture before my captain was clearing his throat. I turned to look at him before I closed the dossier and put it away as I was nodding at him.
"I will not disappoint you again, sir," I said as my captain was nodding at me.
"I am counting on it. It has been 4 years since the attempted robbery that you caught her in action but this time, she succeeded. But thankfully, The Citrine of Greece has a detection device. And it was stating that the last location was in Athens, Greece," the captain said before I was arching my eyebrows at him.
"So, is that mean—"
"Yes, Dow. You will be leaving for Greece first thing in the morning," he said before he gave me the ticket of the plane to go to Greece. Well, I guess this job has dragged my ass to the other country after all.
And maybe, just maybe, this will end for once and for all.
Chrysi Gynaika, that's what they know her in Greece and now it's time for her to meet her match.
Lyana Debaux's POV
"Hurry up, Edmond! We might not be catching that boat now," I said as I was looking at Edmond when he was reluctant to leave the house. I was smiling at him before I was putting on my hat and my sunglasses on.
"Do we have to go? The food was not digested perfectly yet," he whined when I know that he did not want to go out of the house because he has something even better to do.
AKA making love to me.
"Come on! It was not like the boat will be waiting for us," I said before Edmond stopped me. He smirked as I was narrowing my eyes at him.
"What did you do?" I asked him before he shrugged. Seriously, one of these days, I will make sure that he told me everything in that little brain of his.
"I may have changed our boating tour to 8 AM tomorrow. So, we have the evening free," he said as I was groaning in frustration.
"Why you did not tell me?" I asked him before Edmond just shrugged again as he was looking at me up and down.
"Maybe I just like to see that you were wearing a sundress that suits you by the way. Blue, just like your alternative—" he did not finish his sentence as I smacked his arm.
"Ow! What was that for?" Edmond asked before I was rolling my eyes at him.
"That's for not telling me right away, and this," I said as I was punching his chest.
"That's for making fun of me right now," I said before Edmond was taking my hands into his and he was smiling at me.
"Now, now. We don't need to be like this. We can go for a biking stroll along the island. I heard they have the gorgeous sunset at the beach," he said huskily before he was tucking my hair behind my ears. I shivered.
"Or perhaps you rather do something else?" Edmond asked me as I was clearing my throat. Well, not everyone will be surprised to know what was my husband suggesting.
"No, we will be riding the bike now," I said before we were out of the house as Edmond's laughter filled the air.
"Wow, I never see anything like this before," I said as I was riding the bike and we were going down the streets to look at the surrounding neighborhood at the summer house that we were staying. I was smiling as I know that everyone here was nice and their community was tight.
I missed it.
"Hey, slow down. I cannot keep up with you, love," Edmond called for me when I turned to look at him as he was struggling to keep his bicycle straight. I stopped as I was waiting for him to come to my side before we're riding next to each other.
"Hurry up. Don't tell me an Interpol agent doesn't know how to ride a bike?" I asked as I was arching my eyebrow at him. Edmond was rolling his eyes at me before he stopped next to me.
"Okay, the first thing of all, I don't do bikes. I have motorcycles and cars which means I don't need this ancient transportation to go around,"
"But you kind of need it here," I teased him before Edmond glared at me.
"Not funny,"
"For you, yeah," I said before I was riding the bike again and I was slowing down when Edmond was still struggling to get straight with the bike and I just give him the support that I only know.
I laughed.
"You look like a child that needs its training wheels,"
"I don't. I just don't have confidence in this vehicle," Edmond retorted before we were stopping at the secluded beach that was in the neighborhood. It was only 15 minutes bike ride to this spot. I parked my bike before Edmond was next to me. Then, I took his hand and we were exploring the beach together.
"Ah, I miss being here," I said as I was leaning against Edmond before he turned to look at me. He arched his eyebrow.
"Well, my parents used to take me here when we're on summer vacation. The house was actually mine but the law in France made my cousin Louis to be the sole heir of the properties that were left behind my family," I said as I was opening up my life that I never told anyone before.
Not that I don't want to, it's just…never felt right with anyone else.
But with Edmond, I can tell him anything and I know that I will be happy to tell him that the summer house can be transferred to his name when our marriage certificate got through and we still have to translate the documents as well.
Like Edmond said, what a rip off!
"So, you like being here because you grow up here?" Edmond asked me as I was nodding at him. I was looking ahead before I was smiling as the cold sea breeze was hitting my face and my hair was everywhere.
But thanks to my hat and sunglasses, it was bearable. I sighed.
"I think I might need to do something better than this. I need to get out of this country and start living, I supposed," I said before Edmond stopped and I turned to look at him. He was blinking his eyes at me before I can sense the glee inside him.
"You wish to get out of France?" He asked. I nodded.
"Well, in that case, Mrs. Lattone, why don't we go back to my country and live the rest of our lives together there?" He said as he was tucking my hair behind my ear, which was not giving much considering the wind.
"Hmm, but I have to get my passport and all the stuff that showed we married—"
"No matter, I can make it happen in a blink of an eye," Edmond said before he was smiling at me as he was taking out his phone. But then, he cursed.
"Shit! They don't have coverage here. No matter, after our honeymoon, I will resign and we will be living in Scotland to raise our children together," Edmond said before he put away his phone and looked at me.
"Children?" I asked before Edmond was pulling me by the nape and kissed the shit out of me. He was playing with my lower lips before I opened my mouth and I was kissing and sucking his tongue as peppermint was filling my mouth.
"Yes, children and I think we're overdue to make them now," he said before Edmond was pulling me off the beach stroll as we were running to our bikes and rode back to the house.
Luckily, Edmond has no problem with riding the bike after all. I guessed he needs some kind of motivation.
And what other motivation for Edmond if not making love to me all night long?
