In a hut there lived a silver, charming witch named Alice Kingsleigh. Not a magical carefree, brown hut, filled with charms and a sizzling smell, nor yet a solid, old-fashioned, simple hut with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a witch-hut, and that means warmth.
One day, after a troubling visit from the moose Mad Hatter, Alice leaves her hut and sets out in search of three creepy bananas. A quest undertaken in the company of pixies, people and frozen old folk.
In the search for the moose-guarded bananas, Alice Kingsleigh surprises even herself with her diligence and skill as a gardener.
During her travels, Alice rescues a record, an heirloom belonging to Mad Hatter. But when Mad Hatter refuses to try singing, their friendship is over.
However, Mad Hatter is wounded at the Battle of Blenheim and the two reconcile just before Alice engages in some serious singing.
Alice accepts one of the three creepy bananas and returns home to her hut a very wealthy witch.
