"Father, you are the most familiar with elder sister's handwriting. Surely, Lord Father can tell if Qingle is lying." Qingle gave Duke Qian a look of confidence, making him frown.
Such a letter, if received by someone else, would lead them to think that the eldest Miss Qian had gone to meet with someone and she is yet to be home. Disregarding the fact that she is an unmarried woman and that such acts are unbecoming of noble ladies, her not being at home at this late hour would mean that she was intending to spend the night wherever she was and with whoever she was with.
