Chapter 3 - First Magic and Tenth Birthday

I walked down the long castle corridors until I came to a large open space with a glass dome as the ceiling. It was afternoon so the sun was shining fiercely through the glass. I walked to a few training dummies that had already been set up and stared at them for a few seconds, wandering how this was going to work out. I was thinking about which spell I should cast first.

"Maybe a water spell? Or an earth spell?"

I stood there for what seemed like ages as I pondered what I should cast first. I finally settled on a basic fire spell, ember. As the name suggests it is just a low level elemental spell that shoots fire embers out of the casters hand. After deciding what spell I was going to cast I extended my hand towards the dummy and closed my eyes. It wasn't a requirement to close your eyes but I felt it increased my concentration. I stood in that position for another two minutes before my voice broke the silence.

"Cast, Elemental Spell, Fire Element, Ember" Then I saw it....in my mind. The four little runes that were used to cast the spell, they glowed in an incandescent light and after a few seconds of glowing they turned into threads, still glowing in the same light as I weaved them together into a beautiful tapestry, a work of art that would put all the earthly artists to shame and in an instant five little embers burst out of my hand and flew towards the dummies, striking them on their bodies. All though the spell was low level and didn't do much damage, I was satisfied. Casting any kind of spell at age five was the mark of a prodigy among prodigies. Normally kids at my stage of development would faint from any exertion of their mana but because of my wishes and racial bonuses I still had plenty of mana. I cast a few other spells of the same level before my mana had run dry and walked back to my room feeling proud at my success.

When I arrived at my room I picked up my father's books since I had already memorized them and decided to take them back to him. Even though a good memory wasn't one of my wishes I still had a perfect memory when it came to magic related things because of my second wish.

I knocked on the door to the study and waited for his approval. I didn't hear him so I assumed he wasn't in. I opened the door and quickly placed the books back on the bookshelf before returning to my room and going to sleep.

Another Five Years Later (The power of the almighty time skip!!!!)

I woke up from a good nights sleep as I sat up in my bed, naked. I had recently gotten into the habit of sleeping naked as I read that some druids would do it to raise their alignment with nature and their surroundings. This intrigued me so I decided to do some self-experimentation. My findings were positive as I had just recently started to become more aware and animals had recently started to approach me more often. Besides my recent naked sleeping I also had become more proficient at magic. My father and mother were both very proud of me and said that I was probably the most powerful magic caster of my age group, which wasn't saying much but was still nice to hear. Don't get me wrong, there are any number of people that could snap there fingers and I would die that instant, I was by no means powerful.

But anyway, enough of that. Today was a VERY, INSANELY big day. Today was the day I would turn 10. Three big events were going to happen today. One, I was going to grow my faerie wings and two, I was going to grow my vampire fangs. The last one, although the last two were pretty big milestones, was even bigger. My acceptance letters would be coming in today.

"Acceptance letters?" You might ask.

"Acceptance to what?"

Acceptance letters to the magic academies. That's right...magic academies. And not just any magic academies, the top three. I wasn't sure which one I would choose yet so I was going to decide when I got the letters.

I stood up from my bed and looked at my body length mirror. I had developed a lot since I was five. I was taller, and a lot more charming. My pale skin glistened without a single blemish or scar and my hair had gotten silkier to the point it would make even woman jealous. My body was toned from all the swordsmanship I had endured. My eyes glowed a deep crimson, entrancing anyone who stared into them.

I walked to my wardrobe and and put on some clothes, midnight black robes with a golden trim that emphasized my hair and eyes perfectly. I then left my bedroom as I walked to the throne room where I would meet my mother and father for the ceremony. The maids and servants bowed as I walked past them, a few young serving girls blushing as they did so. I continued walking until I came to a large room made out of the most precious of metals with two heavenly thrones standing at the end of the room, my parents sitting on them. I walked to the middle of the room as I kneeled to them.

"Are you ready, my son?" Oberon asked as his golden eyes shined down like two suns.

"I am."

"Then let us proceed." He said with a smile as he got up from his throne and walked towards me. The process was apparently quite painful so he had to put me to sleep to spare me from most of the pain. He outstretched his hand and muttered a word.

"Sleep." He said as he wove his magic circle. I suddenly felt an extreme exhaustion rush over my body as I gave into the sleep, falling onto my father as I did so. He caught me in his arms and carried me to a room with a huge hot spring and sunk me into the water. My mother slit her wrist and her blood dripped into the water, turning it completely red as they watched my transformation into a true faerie and vampire.
