Chapter 107 - Strength in Unity

The tension at the Aegis Sentinel Corps' command centre hadn't fully dissipated after the previous night's operation. Although they had thwarted an immediate threat, the discovery of a list that included the Corps as a target had sent shockwaves through their ranks. Jiang Han's vision of the Corps as an impregnable fortress now faced a new challenge—an unknown enemy determined to dismantle everything he'd built.

Jiang Han arrived early at the facility, a sense of urgency in his step. The leaders of the divisions were already assembled in the briefing room, their demeanours as sharp as ever. Colonel Yusof was reviewing updated security protocols while Adrian Yong pored over the decrypted data retrieved from the industrial site.

"Good morning," Jiang Han greeted, taking his place at the head of the table. "Let's get started. Adrian, what have we learned from the server?"

Adrian stood, his usual calm composure tempered with a hint of concern. "The server confirmed several things. First, the group we're dealing with is well-funded and methodical. They've been collecting data on our operations, likely through a combination of surveillance and cyber intrusions. Second, the list of targets suggests they're not only after us but also our clients. This isn't just about attacking us; they want to undermine our reputation."

Jiang Han's gaze hardened. "That means they've studied our weaknesses—or what they perceive as weaknesses. Idris, Alina, what's the status of our cybersecurity measures?"

Alina spoke first, her fingers tapping rhythmically on the table. "We've upgraded our firewalls and monitoring systems. Any unauthorised attempt to access our network will now trigger an immediate lockdown protocol. Additionally, we've implemented redundant systems to ensure continuity in the event of a breach."

Idris added, "We're also conducting a thorough audit of all communication channels. Any suspicious activity, no matter how small, will be flagged and investigated."

Jiang Han nodded approvingly. "Good. Colonel Yusof, how are we fortifying physical security?"

The Colonel leaned forward. "Razif and Harith have already increased patrols around all key facilities. We've also added more checkpoints to restrict access. Bodyguards assigned to high-profile clients have received updated briefings, and we're conducting drills to prepare for coordinated attacks."

Satisfied with their progress, Jiang Han turned his attention to the team leaders. "We can't afford to be reactive. Adrian, I want your division to prioritise identifying the leadership and motives of this group. We need to know who they are, what they want, and how far they're willing to go."

Adrian's eyes glinted with determination. "Consider it done."

Later that day, Jiang Han received a call from an unexpected source—Dato' Zainal Azhar, a prominent businessman and one of the Corps' earliest supporters.

"Jiang Han," Zainal's deep voice came through the speaker, "I've heard rumours about your recent troubles. Is there anything I can do to help?"

Jiang Han hesitated for a moment. Zainal was known for his extensive network of connections, both in Malayuna and abroad. "Dato' Zainal, your support is always appreciated. If you have any insight into groups targeting high-profile security firms, it could be invaluable."

"I'll make some discreet inquiries," Zainal replied. "But let me offer you another piece of advice. When dealing with enemies of this calibre, you must project strength. Let them know you're not an easy target."

"Thank you, Dato'. I'll keep that in mind."

As the call ended, Jiang Han couldn't help but reflect on Zainal's words. Projecting strength wasn't just about physical might; it was about demonstrating unity, resilience, and strategic foresight.

By afternoon, the divisions of the Aegis Sentinel Corps were in full swing, each contributing their expertise to fortify their defences. The Training Division, led by Major Azlan, was conducting an intensive session for new recruits. His commanding voice echoed through the training grounds as he drilled them in advanced defensive tactics.

"Remember, coordination is the key to survival. Your individual skills mean nothing if you can't work as a team!"

Nearby, Captain Faizal Malik was overseeing a specialised course on urban combat scenarios, ensuring that even seasoned members stayed sharp.

In the Support Division's headquarters, Alina and Idris were neck-deep in analysing patterns from intercepted communications. "This group isn't operating in isolation," Alina noted. "There's evidence suggesting they're receiving logistical support from an overseas network."

Idris frowned. "We'll need to loop Adrian in. If this network spans multiple regions, it's going to complicate our countermeasures."

Adrian, who had just entered the room, overheard the conversation. "It's not a complication; it's an opportunity. If we trace their support network, we can dismantle their operations from the source."

As evening fell, Jiang Han convened another meeting with the division leaders. "We've made significant progress today, but we can't let our guard down. Adrian, I want you to prioritise identifying this group's overseas connections. Alina and Idris will provide you with everything they've uncovered so far."

Adrian nodded. "Understood. I'll have my team on it immediately."

"Colonel Yusof," Jiang Han continued, "I want a full review of our contingency plans. If this group escalates their tactics, we need to be ready."

The Colonel's voice was resolute. "Consider it done."

Finally, Jiang Han addressed the room as a whole. "This isn't just a fight to protect ourselves; it's a fight to protect our clients and the reputation we've built. Let's show them what the Aegis Sentinel Corps is capable of."

As the meeting adjourned, the leaders dispersed with a renewed sense of purpose. Jiang Han remained behind, gazing at the operations map displayed on the screen. The path ahead was fraught with danger, but he knew that with the right strategy and the unwavering dedication of his team, they would prevail.

Jiang Han leaned back in his chair, his gaze locked on the array of maps, data sheets, and profiles displayed on the large monitor before him. His fingers tapped rhythmically on the desk, a thoughtful expression etched across his face. "If we're going to succeed in securing the upcoming contract, we need to ensure every division operates with precision."

Colonel Yusof, seated across from him, nodded. "Understood, boss. The training programs have been intensified to prepare all personnel for any unexpected challenges. Major Azlan has been relentless with the new recruits."

Jiang Han's lips curved into a faint smile. "Good. Azlan's rigour is exactly what we need. But tell me, how are we progressing on the counter-surveillance front?"

Colonel Yusof gestured towards a report on the desk. "Sergeant Marcus Tan and Corporal Nik Suraya have been conducting sweeps around our facilities. They detected and neutralised two surveillance devices planted by an unknown entity near our southern outpost last night."

"That's unsettling," Jiang Han remarked, his tone calm but with a sharp edge. "Do we know who's responsible?"

"Not yet," Yusof admitted. "But Marcus and Nik are already tracking the source. Adrian Yong's team has also been alerted to support the investigation."

Jiang Han's expression grew pensive. "We can't afford any leaks, especially with the Intelligence Division still in its foundational stages. Have Sophia and Dr Imran reinforced the cybersecurity layers?"

"Of course," Yusof replied. "The firewalls are impenetrable, and Sophia's predictive systems have been monitoring for any suspicious activity. So far, there's nothing on the digital front."

Jiang Han nodded, his confidence returning. "Good. Keep me updated on Marcus and Nik's findings. We need to show whoever's behind this that Aegis Sentinel Corps isn't to be trifled with."

Just as Yusof was about to respond, a knock echoed from the door. Major Wan Harith stepped in, his expression serious. "Boss, there's been a development. You'll want to see this."

Jiang Han exchanged a glance with Yusof before rising from his chair. "Lead the way."
