Kasai led Nathan, Sophie, Alina, Akila, Charles, and Lyle out of the dungeon and up the nearby stairs. "You were alot quicker with your mission than I thought Sophie. I sincerely thought you would run out of time, but you had an hour left! Surprised me, truly," Kasai said walkin up the stairs and into his throne room. He stood to the side as Nathan and Sophie walked past him. In an instant, bars formed across the door behind Nathan.
"No! Open that door!" Sophie yelled.
"Those bars won't disappear, no matter how much you beg and plead. Your words can't stop me. Your families will stand there and watch your agonizing death. I will not let you stop my plans!" Kasai walked to the middle of the room and his form began to shift. From his human shape came a viper, larger than any one that has been seen before. It's yellow and red stripes mixed with the black belly. It's fangs dripped with venom. "You may try your best, and you may win, but I will make sure that your daughter is never born!" He hissed.
"Sophie watch out!" Kasai's tail swung out from behind him and struck Sophie and flung her across the room. "No! Sophie!" Nathan yelled. His eyes started to fade to red. His anger flowed out of him as green streams of magic. Clenching his fists he focused on Kasai and willed that his body be shaken back and forth. It did just that. Kasai's head flung back and forth, hitting the walls. Nathan watched and laughed at the scene. He willed a sword to appear in front of him and grabbed it from the air. Running, he jumped through the air and stabbed Kasai in his eyes. Wailing, his human form started to return. The sword fell to the ground and Nathan picked it up again. Kasai lifted his hand over his eye and a purple magic shined. He removed the hand and there was the eye, good as new. Nathan yelled and darted to Kasai. Kasai dodged and grabbed his sword from his throne. Nathan and Kasai ran to each other and their swords clashed.
Sophie sat, slumped, against the wall, unconscious. Slowly she started to wake, groaning from the pain in her side. "Wha-" Sophie started saying but stopped when she say Nathan and Kasai battling in the middle of the room. Sophie struggled to stand up but fell back down. She looked to her left and saw the scythe laying on the ground. Stretching her arm, she grabbed the scythe and used it to help push herself of the ground. She stumbled a little, using the scythe as a cane. She saw her mother staring at her through the bars and beckoning that she come near. Sophie took slow steps to her mother and leaned against the wall. Alina and Akila both stretched their hands out and touched Sophie's side. Whispering under their breath they healed Sophie's wounded side. Sophie's strength returned and she smiled at her mother and Akila. She nodded in thanks and turned back to Kasai. She readied the scythe in her hands and ran behind Kasai.
She swung her weapon, aiming for his head, but was stopped by his blade. "Dearest Sophie. You try but always fail. When will you learn," Kasai said chuckling. Sophie looked at him, determined to end this. She looked behind her and out the windows behind Kasai's throne.
"I have learned. And this time, I will not fail. No matter what you try. Nathan, I advise you stand back," Sophie replied. Nathan looked at her, lowered his sword, and backed away. Sophie wrestled her scythe out from under Kasai's sword and used the edge to push him onto the ground. "Tell me Kasai, do you like being hidden away?" Sophie swung the scythe up and slammed it into the ground making a crack in the floor. Out of the crack came hundreds of dark green vines.
"No! No! You cannot keep me contained! I will come back! And I will end your child's life and take over this useless wor-" Kasai was silenced as the vines covered his mouth. The vines encircled his body as he struggled. Sophie pulled the scythe out of the ground and the vines descended through the crack with Kasai in its grasp.
"I will see to it that your plans never happen," Sophie said, picking up her now broken scythe. The crack in the floor closed and the bars on the door disappeared.
"Sophie!" Nathan dropped his sword and ran to her. He wrapped her in a tight embrace as tears ran down his cheeks. He kissed her cheek and held her close. "Are you okay?! Are you hurt?!" Nathan asked cupping her cheeks in his hands.
"I'm okay. I'm okay," Sophie replied. She looked to her left and saw her mother and father running towards her. "Mother, father!" Sophie exclaimed. She ran from Nathan and hugged her parents.
"Sophie.... we could never be more proud then we are today. That feat of magic, that bravery, was something I had never seen before. Your ancestors would be proud," Lyle said smiling at his daughter. Sophie smiled at him and hugged her family tighter.
"Nathan. Come here," Nathan ran to his parents and smiled. "You did well, for someone not knowing how to fight," Akila said, chuckling, "You did something today That I never thought I would see from you. You are always full of surprises. Now, who is ready to go back home!?" Akila exclaimed so Alina, Lyle, and Sophie would hear. They all laughed and left the fort, ready to begin another journey.
