Chapter 37 - 37. Selecting Team

2nd April 1997

Flame Entertainment Agency. After two days of happy daily life with his aunts family and complete release of stress, Rowan regained his good mood and returned to work.

"First of all, it's a team that has been planned for a long time."

Mary said "Initially, we need a male driver and bodyguard and a female assistant."

"You will be responsible for the salaries of these two people, and you will be responsible for assigning the tasks."

"If you need anything else, tell me now."

"Personally, I don't think one part-time bodyguard is enough. What if a psychopath wants to provoke you, the hero of the grand heist... do you want more bodyguards?" Mary suggested which makes sense to him.

As in America there may be a lack of everything, but there will never be a lack of psychopathic gunmen.

What if like Kennedy, he is riding in a convertible - and some psychopath has a wild imagination and want to do something, one bodyguard is definitely not enough.

Rowan thought he was pretty strong, but he couldn't resist firearms at least not now who knows what happens in the future.

If you are in America, you should be stable.

"Then let's hire another one. The two of them can take turns driving." Rowan said

"The others are no longer needed. Three people are enough for the new team, and I can't afford to hire more people."

Rowan did not intend to recruit soldiers right away.

When Hollywood teams are first established, they keep everything simple, and only after they become big stars will the team be gradually expanded.

The status is one thing, and the other is that the income is not enough to support so many people.

When some big names join the crew, assistants, makeup artists and other team members will ask the crew to be responsible for their food and accommodation, and some will even provide subsidies.

For actors who are not famous enough, the crew will not give them such good conditions as the other actors. They have to bear the burden of business trips themselves, and they cannot afford to support too many people.

Although Rowan played the leading male role in the big-budget "The Mask of Zorro", his income and status would not be directly increased before the film was released.

There aren't that many things to do, just keep it simple.

Mary twirled the pen and said, "Rowan, you are in a very special position now."

"On the surface, you are a newcomer who has no works to prove himself. They believe you are better at action directing than acting."

"But, you have the popularity of the big robbery, and in terms of pure popularity, you are no worse than those top stars."

"Many people in Hollywood probably don't know how to treat you, but that's not a problem. It will get better after a while. The increasing number of invitations is proof of that."

"It's starting out perfectly on the work front, now the only thing you have to pay attention to is yourself."

"You need to maintain a positive attitude and not destroy the image you established during the big robbery."

"The popularity of The Heist has both advantages and disadvantages. The good thing is that it can help you get a role like the leading actor in The Mask of Zorro, which is impossible at this stage."

"On the negative side, if your image collapses, you will face even stronger backlash, and it's not impossible that you will never be able to recover and even quit the industry."

Mary warned seriously.

Rowan smiled and said, "I've been through it, don't worry about me."

"Have you ever experienced that?"

Mary was stunned for a moment, and suddenly remembered that Rowan was a child prodigy.

In the 1980s, there was a wave of child prodigies in America.

As if more child prodigies would make them more "manifest" than their old rivals.

Rowan was a bona fide child prodigy, and naturally he experienced a publicity frenzy. Though it was the orginal Rowan who experienced that but he still has the memories of it.

So he has indeed experienced the baptism of media hype and is very experienced in this area.

Looking back over the past two months since his sudden rise to fame, there has indeed been no negative news about Rowan.

He is low-key in daily life and has a very good reputation in the crew. Many people want to work with him again after working with him many of the invitations she has on hand are introduced by such acquaintances.

Mary was both happy and a little disappointed that her rising star was so easy to take care of.

She always feel that it is different from the fantasy of "celebrity life mentor-entertainment queen" when she was in school...

"Is it time to start the interview?"

Rowan's voice brought her back to reality.

Mary nodded and picked up the microphone: "The interview begins."

The first person to be interviewed was the female assistant.

There are all beauties here, most of them are in their twenties or thirties, and each of them is very enthusiastic.

During a break in an interview, Mary said "Many of them are girls who come to Hollywood to pursue their dreams. Some of them may not be very smart, but they all have their own aspirations."

"Hollywood is a place of fame and fortune, and people who make a living here don't pretend to be noble."

"They made their goals clear from the beginning: to become famous and make a lot of money.

"The world of fame and fortune is not only a gladiatorial arena but also a battlefield. Not every player in Hollywood can get what they want, and assistants are their choiсе."

"Even though I've lowered my expectations, it doesn't mean I haven't had fantasies in my heart. If you can't control your little head, then your big head will be in trouble."

"So if you have to choose, you should choose one with more realistic requirements. This way, having a relationship with your assistant will be much easier to handle than having a relationship with someone else casually."

"Don't make promises if you don't have the ability. Otherwise, don't expect me to help you clean up your mess when something goes wrong."

The eldest daughter, who comes from a family of scholars, has just started her own business, and Rowan is the most promising person she has ever met.

He is young enough to be her brother, but also has the double-edged sword of being a hero in a big robbery.

She was now worried that something might happen to Rowan.

Her words were rude, but Rowan could sense the concern in them.

He crossed his feet and said righteously "I am a serious person."

Mary glanced down and snorted softly "I hope so."

Rowan certainly had his own ideas.

After all, they were all winking and biting their lips and he was still a 17-year -old boy. If he didn't have any thoughts, he wouldn't be a normal person.

People are affected by physiology, and the surging hormones affect Rowan all the time, as if it happens seven times a day, seven days a week.

There is nothing to be ashamed of, it is a normal physiological need of human beings. Rowan is just becoming healthier.

As long as you are moral, healthy and Iaw-abiding, that's enough.

--American legal standards.

Rowan couldn't imagine how people who hadn't had sex for several months could adjust.

Maybe the bottom part has been destroyed? Anyway, Rowan couldn't stand it.

Fortunately, Rowan can cheat.

When you are almost reaching your limit, go back to the dream copy.

Close your eyes and open them again, and immediately more than ten minutes of sage time has passed.

Although it is not as thorough as drinking tea, it can at least quench your thirst.

He barely made it to the end of the interview and finally chose a more honest Canadian girl.

He chose an honest girl not because he wanted something in the workplace.

During the months he spent in the crew, Rowan became aware of the dirty work going on behind the scenes of Hollywood.

This den of brothels, apart from the glamour on stage, is more miserable off stage.

To many people, Hollywood is a place of suffering where people smile on the outside but cry behind the scenes.

Among them, celebrity assistants are definitely one of the darkest.

Many people earn California minimum wage for a wide range of jobs.

Including arranging celebrity schedules, post-production, contacting major clients, media public relations, running errands, taking care of children, etc.

It can be said that Hollywood personal assistants = 24-hour on-call nannies.

Some even have to deal with boss demands.

They are responsible for so much content, but some people only earn two or three thousand dollars a month, with no benefits and no holidays.

If you meet someone with a bad temper, you will be put under pressure and suffer from mental exhaustion.

Physical abuse and infringement of rights are commonplace.

Entertainment Weekly reportedly interviewed 1,500 current and former personal assistants, and the results showed that 93% felt anxious due to work pressure, and 24% used alcohol to relax themselves.

Why do you still do it when it's so miserable?

Because there is an opportunity.
