"What do I even say to her?" Damien's hushed tone sounded slightly adorable to Katherine.

He didn't say anything. This was a difficult time for him and seeing that he was nervous about talking to his mother made her smile. It was stupid and if people could see her reaction now they would think she must be weird for finding that cute. But she couldn't help but feel excited that he was finally going to talk to Amelia—his birth mom.
She remembered the hints of tenderness in Amelia's eyes whenever they talked about Damien. It was so real and warm that it made Katherine miss her own mom at times.
