Myeonghu gulped nervously as he stared at the Great King Fox before him. The fox in turn gave him a quick glance, before begin to prowl aimlessly.
"I wonder if I can even hunt that…."
Although he had previously been eager to find it, when confronted with its size he was no longer as confident. It was even bigger than a bear and couple probably crush him in a single strike.
"It's must be stronger than a bear, right?"
Although bears would normally outclassed a fox, this was a Great King Fox, a Boss level monster. It was in a tier of its own, not to mention that it was even bigger than a standard bear so it surely wouldn't be any weaker than the latter.
"…"
Riddled with indecision, he was unsure whether to call it quits and head to the village first and returning once he was better equipped, or attempting it right now.
"Let's give it a shot."
He steeled his resolve and decided to hunt it. Although it would certainly be prudent to return to the village and return more prepared, he was worried that it would be difficult to find its whereabouts if he were to leave.
"At worst, if I were to die at least I'll learn more about it."
He stealthily approached it from behind and clenched his teeth.

His sword slash left only a minor cut on the Great King Fox's rear. The monster just just turned around and gave him a look of indifference, causing Myeonghu's back to break out in sweats.

Hearing it growl, he couldn't help but nervously take a few steps back. He no longer held any hope of hunting it, knowing that he was nowhere close to being its match.
'Even if I were to completely outfit myself with new items, it still wouldn't be enough.'
From that single attack of his and its subsequent roar, he finally learned the difference in their abilities.

The fox growled once more before quickly swiping a paw at Myeonghu's retreating figure, confirming his previous analysis.
'… are you kidding, 2000 hit points lost from a single strike!'
Losing 2000 health from a simple hit meant that no matter what kinds of attacks it employed, three strikes would certainly end his life.
He slowly backed off some more, making some distance between them

The Great King Fox continued to stare at him indifferently, as if his latest strike was that of swiping off some slightly annoying pest.
He tried to back away some more.

The fox growled and pawed the ground menacingly, as if to signify its dissatisfaction with Myeonghu's actions. Just when it took a step forward towards him, Myeonghu did a 180 and bolted.
Graawr!
It hesitated for a couple of seconds, not having expected for its prey to suddenly run away, but then roared angrily and chased after him.

Myeonghu had been running for quite some time now, but the Great King Fox refused to let up.
"Stop chasing me you little shit!!"
Grawrr!
The fox roared back, as if to say that that would never happen. Hearing its aggressive response, he could only clench his teeth and continue running.
'Just what kind of expression is that!'
Myeonghu was currently running for his life, while the Great King Fox seemed to be out for a leisurely jog, as its face was filled with indifference.
'This isn't even its habitat, just why!'
At first he thought that if he left the area where the foxes spawned, that it would stop chasing him. However that quickly proved not to be the case. Now his plan was to go to where the wolves could be found, hoping to scare it away like that.
Unfortunately despite having entered deep into the wolves' area, the Great King Fox continued its pursuit.
'Just why are those pricks scared of a fox!'
Myeonghu couldn't help but curse to himself as he saw the wolves which had been prowling nearby, instantly disappear when they caught sight of the fox. At first he was a bit worried since wolves were well known for their aggressive nature, but now he was instead hoping for them to swarm him as it might be his only chance to distract the Great King Fox and somehow make it out of this alive.

Over the course of this chase he had naturally attracted the attention of several wolves. Everytime it happened Myeonghu would smile to himself, only to be let down as the wolves would immediately turn tail and run upon seeing the Great King Fox.
'Do I have no choice but to lose my life here?'

Myeonghu became somewhat hopeful, seeing a wolf which was 3~4 times bigger than the average wolf suddenly rush him. When it caught sight of the Great King Fox it first froze, causing him to lose hope, but later gained some confidence as it howled back.

Seeing such a situation Myeonghu couldn't help but smile, knowing his small chance at survival had arrived.

Unfortunately his happiness was short lived. Following the Great King Foxes' roar, the Large Wolf let out more of a whimper than a howl, as turned back around.
'No, don't, come back here!'
His heart fell as he saw the wolf melt into the forest.
"…"
Watching his only hope disappear, he lost all confidence.
'No reason to drag this out, it's do or die time.'
After having run for so long, he finally stopped and stood his ground.
Grr?
The Great King Fox likewise stopped and titled its head questioningly.
"You win you shitty Fox!!"
Myeonghu shouted at it in anger. Seeming to have understood the insult, the fox crouched down as if it were ready to pounce, switching its previous look of indifference to one of aggression.
"…?"
Myeonghu couldn't understand why it would suddenly have such a big change in expression, after it had been leisurely chasing him down this whole time, when suddenly.

A wolf's howl rang out from behind him.

At first he thought he had heard wrong, but the second one confirmed it. He then turned around to see, curious to know what kind of wolf would dare challenge the Great King Fox.
"…"
He was left speechless as he saw a huge wolf standing right there. It was even bigger than the last one which had run away and was about the same size as the Great King Fox.
'Oh?'
He stood there, rooted to the ground as the Wolf struck out towards him. He knew instinctively that he would be sent flying through the air.

While in mid air he checked his HP.
'… 2500?'
He had suffered even more damage then when he had been attacked by the Great Fox King. He didn't even regret being sent flying as he wa excited to see what the result of a clash between these two monsters would be.

'What should I do?'
As he landed on the ground, Myeonghu jumped to his feet and looked at the two beasts facing off, as he contemplated his next action.
'Let's make a run for it!'
In the first place it was his only option, so he tried to sneakily back away towards the forest.
When he made it past the denser bushes and was hidden from sight, he picked up his speed and ran without looking back.
Phew!
He let out a sigh of relief as he thought he had finally escaped from the clutches of the Great King Fox. As he saw the light filter through the trees ahead, he was excited to return to the clearing where the village should be.
"Lets go!"
Shouting excitedly as he stepped out of the forest, but his bright smile quickly turned upside down.

Somehow his feet weren't able to feel the ground anymore and he looked down worriedly.
Before he could even tilt his head to have a look, he felt his body falling through the air as his stomach lurched, and he no longer had the courage to look down. He opened his mouth and screamed as he plummeted to the ground after having fallen over the cliff.
