Chapter 56 - Justice is Late but Never Absent

Thankful for the extra time given to accomplish what he needed to do before his love came to find him, Kakashi went to find Might Gai with an urgent request. The school that Gai taught at was rather renowned in Tokyo and Kakashi wished that he didn't have to turn up so suddenly without an appointment. However, Mizuki's whereabouts were getting harder and harder to keep track off. The man has gotten himself into some sticky situations with some bad company after destroying Iruka's life. Kakashi knew that Iruka would be sad and most likely blame himself if anything happened to that shitty bastard.

"My eternal rival!" Gai greeted with a sparkling grin. "What brings you here this youthful evening?"

Kakashi didn't look like he was in a conversational mood and the martial artist took the hint. They went to Gai's office after the trainer gave some instructions to the senior students. Kakashi followed behind, familiar with the building.

"Is it a job?" Gai asked once they were alone in the office. The earlier vibrant persona nowhere to be seen.

Kakashi nodded. He passed the martial artist a file that contained all of Mizuki's personal information.

"Take care of this person. I don't want him anywhere near my mate but don't hurt him. My dolphin is a very kind person and disposing of this trash will only hurt him more. Whatever he is doing, keep Iruka away from it. However, if the situation gets worse then try to keep damages to a minimum."

Gai smirked. "Is the almighty alpha finally having a change of heart? This is quite a mercy job you're entrusting me. I'm very curious to know who your mate is and what he is like. I heard from Lee that your kids have also taken a liking to him?"

Kakashi scowled. The werewolf alpha couldn't help but feel slightly jealous of the attention Iruka had been giving his pack. Not only did his dolphin cook and clean, but his dolphin was also giving out hugs to others that not even Kakashi had received before.

The two old friends didn't stay to talk for very long. Kakashi also had to hurry along if he wanted to catch Iruka and his pack at the hospital to now what the doctor said. He wasn't too worried about his mate's condition because Ino was a very good nurse to be. Under her watchful eye, the teacher was recovering quickly.

That night, Iruka had a dream. He dreamt that Kakashi returned and held him in his arms while he slept. The teacher didn't know why but it felt incredibly real as if the man really had stopped by and snuck in through his window to cuddle with him until he had to wake up.

The teacher touched the spot where dream Kakashi had been and it felt a little warm. The teacher didn't know what to think about it but brushed it off as his imagination. He really couldn't wait for the two weeks to pass quickly so that he can remove that cast on his elbow and start his search for Kakashi.

It was odd because Iruka knew what it felt like to have a crush for someone. The feelings he had for a certain albino was definitely on a whole new level. Iruka couldn't remember when the last time was that he yearned for Mizuki's company. Being apart from Kakashi only made the rainy days in his heart seem like it would never end. Without Kakashi, the sun in his life, Iruka didn't feel like doing much. All he could think of in moments like this when he wasn't preoccupied with things to do was the man whom he spent about a month with living together in his tiny apartment.

Ino didn't have school today because the only lecture she had was cancelled so the girl decided to keep the teacher company and go grocery shopping together. Iruka was excited because he hadn't gotten to see much of Tokyo. At the same time, the teacher was eager to find some kind of part-time job in the city. He couldn't possibly impose on Kakashi and his family for too long even if they were rich and being nice to him.

The atmosphere in Tokyo was very different and Iruka felt slightly uneasy with so much traffic. Thank goodness, Ino was around to give him a tour. The teacher stuck close to the blonde girl and marvelled at how busy everybody was. Unlike the small town that he worked at before, nobody really gave him a glance. There were simply too many people and the most encouraging part was how diverse the culture here was.

The teacher was slightly shocked to see cross-dressing males and those who were dressed in very eye-catching outfits without gaining much of a glance form the busy people on the streets. Iruka liked the city already. Suddenly, being gay didn't amount to much for him at all. If such odd people were welcomed into the society or at least not hated for being who they were, then surely Iruka could find a place that he could belong to.

Even the supermarkets and convenience stores in the city were very different. Iruka loved how easy it was to find things that he needed. They had many foreign brands that the teacher had never seen before and the shopping trip was very eventful with Ino's help.

As they had purchased so many things, the store was nice enough to offer a free delivery service back to the mansion. Ino grinned and Iruka was overwhelmed with the new knowledge. City folks really did things differently.

"How was it?" Ino asked and Iruka smiled.

"It certainly is an eye-opener. The city is very different from the small towns that I lived in. Do you mind accompanying me for a little more? I want to get a job somewhere."

Ino nodded. "What kind of job are you looking for? Maybe we can walk around and find a job-hunting office?"

Immediately Iruka refused. "No, nothing of that sort! I think I should start familiarising myself with the city before I apply for any teaching jobs. Besides, I need to save up for transportation if I'm going to be working in the city. I can't possibly have Kiba to drive me all the way here every day once I get a job."

Ino raised a bow. "Why not? He drives to the city to work every day. Sai and I always hop onto his car when we have to go to school. It's not a big deal. Besides, even if that dog isn't free, there are always others around in the mansion or family who can offer a lift. Don't be courteous, we already see you as one of us."

Iruka smiled. "Thank you. I know you've all been very kind to me but I'm just a stranger."

Ino's jaw fell. "What? How can you say that? You're our saviour's saviour. If anything, we are honoured to be part of your family. You're not just a stranger, sensei. Everyone will be really sad if you say that."

Ino held Iruka's hands in hers and the teacher blushed. Her seriousness made Iruka feel as if he could really put the past behind and join Kakashi as part of the family even if their relationship is still very ambiguous currently. He hasn't even seen the trader at all and was missing him and enough to see him in his sleep.

From a drug store, a certain familiar white-haired punk who was down on his luck stalked the duo from a distance. He didn't think that Iruka would have the ability to come to Tokyo all by himself after being evicted so quickly. Initially, the drunkard wanted to let Iruka suffer for a few days and then offer him a place with his apartment to reconcile their relationship but someone else beat him to the punch, ruining everything.

Now that he was in Tokyo and spent so much effort trying to track down this cheating whore, Mizuki had no intention of backing down until he dragged the man back to his shitty hellhole. The girl beside Iruka was an annoying pest and the pale guy was an even bigger pest. They kept sticking around like flies and Mizuki didn't know how to approach his boyfriend without alarming them.

Fortunately, today must be his lucky day. The pale guy was nowhere in sight and only this weak looking female was escorting Iruka. Once they got to a more deserted place, Mizuki would seize the chance and kidnap Iruka who was still injured and easy to subdue.

As the saying goes, the mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind it. While Mizuki followed after Iruka and Ino, another group was following him. Indeed, it was Maito Gai and his group. The police were already on standby at the location that Ino was bringing the teacher to. For a long time, Kakashi had coordinated the plan for this day behind the scenes. The local police had been tipped off about a stalker who had violent tendencies. With so much evidence collected, there was no way Mizuki was leaving the bars any time soon after his arrest. But first, they needed to get in position.

Iruka didn't suspect a thing as Ino and he chatted. They walked to a rather isolated bus stop that the girl claimed she remembered having a bus service that stopped closest of the mansion.

"I'm sorry, sensei... I don't really take public transport often. Let's check the route first, I think this might not be the right bus stop."

Iruka agreed and Ino left his side to check on the route, intentionally creating an opportunity for Mizuki to approach the unsuspecting teacher.

A scream from the teacher made Ino whip back so hard. Her panicked expression and struggles were so impressive that even Gai didn't know if the girl was acting. When Mizuki started pulling out a knife, the martial artist no longer watched. They had enough evidence as it was and the police were already running towards the scene.

Like a hero out from a movie, Gai dashed in to land a few hits on Mizuki that was too fast for human eyes. Numb, Mizuki dropped the weapon and Gai reduced Iruka from the man's grasp, reassuring him that everything would be alright while the police took over and arrested Mizuki. Ino wiped her tears as they took the yelling man away while Gai left Ino to console Iruka.

"Hello! It's me! Everything went according to plan."

On the other end of the line, Kakashi smiled. "Thanks, Gai. I owe you two favours now."

The martial artist simply grinned and gave Iruka a thumbs up. "Justice might be late but it is never absent! So long, youthful Iruka! We will meet again!"

In a flash, the man in green spandex disappeared,d leaving both Ino and Iruka confused as to what just happened.

"Let's go home now, shall we?" Iruka asked and Ino agreed. They settled on calling for Sai to pick them up since neither of them knew where they were.
