It wasn't an accident, Danzo planned it. Naruto burst into a bright orange flame and started transforming. The flame flickered from a warm orange to a bloody red while his mana fluctuated wildly. Kakashi noticed the signs of the Evoker threatening to take over the eight-tailed fox. There was a tattooed seal that was usually dormant on Naruto's stomach. Kurama didn't say much about it but Kakashi knew the Hunter put it there for a reason.
Sasuke didn't know what to do. He had never seen Naruto lose it like this before. No matter what happened, Naruto always fought with clarity in his eyes and never-wavering will. The fox demon before him looked like a real demon now. His eyes were pure white and Naruto shifted into his animal form, something Sasuke wasn't familiar with. It wasn't the cute miniature pet version he knew when he first found the blond in the rain, it was an ancient-looking creature who murdered millions from the myths - a Kitsune.
Kakashi's eye widened when he saw that Naruto broke Kurama's seal and unleashed his bloodline gift. This was exactly what the Hunter was afraid of. Naruto no longer looked like that kit trying to gain his ninth tail. The Kitsune was a demon deity who had ten tails, a feat that no other fox demons could attain no matter how much they trained. It was born in the bodies of golden foxes and usually sealed away by fox elders until the chosen child gained their mark of maturity. Without sufficient control, the demon deity would run rampant and another disaster would happen.
Each fox tail represented a different thing. Having nine tails would usually indicate that the fox demon has mastered all nine paths of fox magic - bewitchment, transformation, purification, corrosion, protection, possession, illusion, manipulation and clairvoyance. Most foxes will choose something to specialise in after they attain all nine tails. However, there was one thing that made the Kitsune different from a regular mature fox spirit. The tenth tail represented fate or karma. It was the devourer of souls and often brought calamity to the tainted land or the saviour of life and brought the dead back from the purgatory. The Kitsune has a duty to oversee souls and has a will of its own, heavily influenced by its host.
The werewolf didn't know how to stop a Kitsune and Naruto clearly lost all control with his overwhelming rage. Danzo didn't know how to react. Deep inside, the Sanke Lord was quaking in fear but he channelled that feeling into pouring the deadliest poison and attacking the demon deity with his blade.
The thick aura of the Kitsune protected Naruto's physical body from the poison of Danzo's blade. The foxfire melted the metal instantly and roasted Dnazo's arms. The snake demon quickly pulled back and looked at his cooked arms with horror. He watched as the witch opened up a portal for the werewolf and Naruto's mate to escape helplessly. Kakashi didn't bother about Naruto's safety at this point, he only cared about getting everyone away from the area. The barrier wasn't going to hold and there was no way Danzo was leaving there alive. The mountain was going to be demolished by the end of it all and Kakashi was glad that Kurama chose a good spot to fight Danzo in. Explaining the disappearance of a mountain as a natural disaster was easier than explaining the mass destruction of a town.
Once they were out of the danger zone, Tsunade told Kakashi that Kurama wasn't dead yet.
"It's a seal to exchange a life for a life. If Naruto is truly the Kitsune, we might have a chance at winning the shinigami who holds the contract."
Kakashi grimaced. "If possible, I don't ever want Naruto becoming the Kitsune again. I have no idea how to stop his rampage, I just hope it ends with tearing Danzo apart."
Sasuke didn't know what to think. He should be more worried about his husband but after that transformation, he was more worried about the human population in Tokyo.
"We need to find Itachi before Naruto decides to take out the entire Tokyo."
The werewolf looked at the witch and the Uchiha. "You go with Tsunade, I'll keep an eye out on Naruto. Don't tell Itachi anything, your brother might be strong but he's still human. I don't want him trying anything rash. Mei should be with him, group up with Gaara instead and tell Gaara everything that's happened. If there's anyone who could stop the legendary Kitsune, it would be the Tanuki carrier."
Tsunade blinked. She always felt like the kid Gaara was different from the rest of his clan. Tanuki carrier? She had a very different image of the Tanuki carrier in mind like someone more jovial and less deranged but she wasn't complaining. Right now, Gaara was probably the only one capable of saving Naruto from himself.
"Understood," Sasuke nodded and carried Tsunade who was still weak on his back. "Don't die. Iruka will be sad if you do."
Kakashi flinched. "I won't... I still have not proposed to him properly. But in case I don't make it back... tell my dolphin that I love him and that I'm sorry again."
Sasuke gave Kakashi the stink eye. "Tell him that yourself, sappy wolf. I'm going."
With that, Tsunade opened another portal and Sasuke hopped right in.
Kakashi watched them leave before he turned his attention back to the raging Kitsune. He didn't want to do this but he promised Kurama that he will if Naruto loses it completely. Also, he had faith that Kurama wouldn't die so easily. If Danzo was dead and Naruto didn't destroy everything, they might have a chance of getting the Hunter back.
The werewolf alpha hated doing this but to restraint Naruto, he will. The silver-haired wolf started chanting and calling upon his ancestor's spirit the Ookami to grant him power and offer his vessel for the great spirit. Although the great wolf spirit was a warrior and a protector, it wasn't a very good peacemaker. For the Kitsune to be pacified, Kakashi still needed Gaara's help.
Kakashi glanced at the watch and prayed that the Tanuki carrier will make it within the next thirty minutes because once the possession ritual time runs out, the Kitsune will clobber him into unrecognisable remains.
