Once they started to get a grip on what had just happened the mages instantly began to try and attack Sig, but before they could let off a single spell they began to fall to the ground unconscious. Gordan suddenly stood up and walked past Sig patting his shoulder.
"You shouldn't pull those out so easily you know."
Sig instantly put the weapon back into his jacket and settled down in his seat like nothing had happened.
"Though he does have a point there, it is incredibly rude for you to crash this gathering so casually, it's rude."
As he was walking one of his eyes began to bleed and it began to cloud over. But at least the situation had been mostly taken care of without any problem. Dealing with multiple professional mages at once was annoying and he was willing to take such a small sacrifice, plus he didn't enjoy the possiblity that Sig might get injured in the event, even if it was a low possibility they were still tired from their constant overworking.
"I am still quite tired from my last job, and I only came here for a meal with a friend, and now you are trying to drag me into your petty little problems. So I will give you one chance, surrender or die."
The situation wasn't even worth his time, the whole plan had relied on the mages who had been casting a spell which made it so magic could not be used by anyone in the effected radius, but now that they were all incapacitated the spine had been ripped out of the plan. Gordan waited for ten seconds before he began to walk forward once more. The guards tried to stop him but he crushed their throats without stopping and continued toward the idiot who had interrupted the meal.
"Stupid idiots, can't they do anything right? Did I not pay them enough or something, well what ever I will just deal with you myself."
He charged forward but before he realised what was happening Gordan lifted him up by his head and threw him to the ground cracking the floor.
"On second thought, the people here probably want to deal with you in their own way, so I should just let them deal with the situation. What a pain, well this was a waste of time."
Gordan could feel all of the stares from those in the banquet hall and he decided that it would be best for him to leave the premise. He didn't bother to check and see if anyone was following him, and he left the palace without any trouble at all.
Once he had left the premises he wiped the blood from his eye and began walking down the path followed by Sig who looked quite annoyed at what had just happened at the banquet.
"Why do things like this always seem to happen to us all the time. Such minor problems which end up making our lives so much more difficult then they should."
Gordan nodded his head in agreement and then went to one of the food stalls to get some food for the both of them to compensate for the loss which they had suffered before. They each got a mixed meat sandwich and a small case of water to drink with the meal.
"You know this isn't half bad, probably not as good as the stuff at that other place but still not bad."
Sig eagerly munched down his entire sandwich and Gordan went back to the stand ordering several sacks of the delicious sandwiches which he handed to Sig.
"Can you bring this back to the others as a treat. I haven't really done something for them In awhile and we have been working hard so they deserve something now and again. There is another in there for you if you want it. I will head back to the inn in a bit, after my eye starts to actually work again, after all we wouldn't want the others to worry over something so small."
Sig nodded his head understanding that this ment for him to keep what had just happened to himself. If the others new about this it would only make things pointlessly complicated. So he didn't bother fighting it and headed back to the inn leaving Gordan alone to walk around the festival which was reaching its conclusion.
He found himself walking back down the alley where he had met the child the past two days. Even more shocking was the fact that the child was sitting there facing toward the direction from where he was walking in with her arms crossed. She looked like she was a bit shaken up, but she somehow managed to keep her composure.
"Who are you exactly? I haven't ever bothered to ask since we have been just speaking about things like theory and I have the bad habit of not really focusing on things which are a bit on the important side."
Gordan stood completely still and thought about how to answer that question, it wasn't that the king had instructed him to not tell anyone his name but he was a bit possessive of Gordans identity since he was still necessary for the kingdoms rise to power.
"It's not like I was hiding it or anything. My name is Loren L. Gordan, but I would prefer if you just used the name Gordan, it's what most people call me anyway. Though I don't really see why it matters all that much since you neglected to inform me of your identity as well, so I would say that we were on fairly even terrain."
The childs eyes went wide upon hearing his name and stammered to reply back to him.
"Oh that does make sence... I'm Lily daughter of the duke of Horse flame, I came here with my family to represent the nobility at the closing ceremony. I don't really have a full name since it wasn't deemed all that important, sorry I acted that way I'm just alittle shocked after what just happened."
It wasn't really surprising that she had been terrified by what had happened since he was sure most of the people who had witnessed it were also terrified at the scene which had ruined the meal.
"Don't worry about it, that's how most people react to seeing people get killed in front of them. If anything it is a bit of a relief to know that people in this kingdom haven't been desensitized to death."
The child sniffed alittle still trying to hold back her emotion.
"So then you are still my friend even though I acted so rudely after you saved my life?"
Gordan was a bit surprised by being associated as a friend after only knowing the child for two days, but he guessed that even if she was like an adult when it came to information, she was still a young child when it came to her emotional state.
"If something like that was enough to make someone not be friends anymore, then one has to wonder if you were truly friends with that person in the first place."
She looked at him alittle confused and Gordan reiterated his statement.
"I don't mind if you react like that, I'm used to it. Plus, it would be ashame if I was unable to discuss things with you over such a common occurrence as that."
She smiled at him and pulled out the charts so they could continue their work from earlier.
Over the next several days the two of them spent a lot of time studying different applications until they discovered what exactly the abnormalities of the country which they had been studying were. And what it turned out to be, was a type of plague which was slow to start, but once it got going it was devastating. Gordan agreed to try and spread the information so as to warn the people because Lily would be unable to, and then he had left the kingdom with his men to return the item to the king who was less than pleased about their late arrival.
Thinking back about those days Gordan couldn't help but smile sadly, and wondered what would have happened if he had been a bit more perceptive about what had happened with the child's disappearance.
