Chapter 75 - A Monster?

Gordan's eyes cleared and he looked around to see that he was surrounded by a large number of corpses and he was also covered in blood. At some point after he had let himself loose he had lost track of himself and just let the hunt take over. He quickly gathered up the body's and put them in the 'screen' before walking toward the water to clean the blood off of himself. He was starting to get used to the headaches to the point were they weren't all that much of a hindrance for him to deal with, but that didn't mean that he wanted to deal with them all that much. Which was why he decided to clean himself in the water instead of doing it the easy way. When he reached the water he heard the sound of wings and smelled something in the air, he decided to just ignore it and go back to wiping the blood off of himself since he didn't sence any hostility from the individual so there was no real need for him to do anything.

Falcon saw the creature washing the blood off of itself in the strip of water that led into the ocean. Even though the creature seemed to have noticed his presence it ignored him and continued with its work of cleaning away the blood. Falcon touched down several yards away from the creature and began to cautiously approach only to be interrupted by a cat creature which jumped in front of him and began to hiss at him.

"Calm down, I'm not here to hurt you. I just want to know what's going on with your friend over there."

He held out his hands to indicate that he ment no harm, but the cat creature still looked at him with distrust. After a few minutes of waiting the creature stepped out of the water and dryed off its face revealing the strange mask-like markings that covered his face which resembled a skull. The creature smiled at Falcon, which made him shiver in a way that he was all to familiar with. But he was aware that it was impossible for him to be the same individual since he could tell that the creature in front of him wasn't using a transformation ability.

"Well it has been some time, hasn't it?"

The way that the creature was speaking even resembled him a bit, but again there would be no way that this creature and that person were the same. The creature suddenly turned its head to the side as if thinking of something.

"No, this would be the first time we have met, wouldn't it?"

Falcon took a step back and tried to focus on the creatures form, at first he had been able to see him clearly, but now that he had spoken once more the creatures figure was becoming cloaked in darkness until he was a black shadow with red glowing eyes, just as the messenger had described it.

"What are you?"

Gordan turned his head to the side and then noticed the small notification that had popped up in the corner.

[Due to the host knowing the individuals the host's appearance has been shrouded in a mist to protect the host. Would you like to deactivate? (yes) (no)]

Gordan motioned to the (yes) option and the mist cleared from Falcon's eyes and he got a better look at the creature in front of him. It seemed to be from the guardian tribe, a group of individuals that were extremely strong and didn't hail from a particular breed, they were contractors, but one hadn't been sighted since the massacre of the island town. It was odd that there would be another one in this place after so long, right before that event all of the others had withdrawn from the veiw of all others. The guardian in front of him seemed to be quite old as well since the patterns on its skin had turned his arms black with red.

"I apologize for any inconvenience I might have caused in these woods, I was merely trying to catch something to eat when my instincts kind of got the better of me."

He shook his head in slight disgust at his own actions, which made Falcon chuckle.

"Don't worry about it, that happens to the best of us from time to time. Funny enough I thought you reminded me of someone that I used to know but after hearing you say that I know that there is no way you are the same person."

Gordan smiled a bit and picked up the cat creature.

"Sorry to disappoint you. Now I had better be heading back, it would seem that it's time for me to fulfill the contract."

The word contract instantly caught Falcon's attention. It made sence that the guardian would be in a contract. That was the only reason that there would be one in this area, but now he was curious to know what the guardians contract was. He decided to just leave things as they were since guardians were usually touchy about talking about their contracts.

"Well then, don't let me keep you. Don't worry about the mess, one less pest in these woods is all towards a better night of sleep for me anyway."

Gordan smiled and walked away from the former general with a look of slight regret. It would have been nice to catch up with him, but that would bring up more problems that would be too time consuming. So he decided to just leave things as they were.

As he was walking away a large bird came down from the sky landing on Falcon's shoulder with a letter in one of its talons, he stopped walking and quickly opened the letter which was the monthly report he received about the situation in the human realm. It served to tell him all of the most important information, but it was several days early which worried him greatly. Usually he would have waited until he had reached his home to figure out what was in the letter but becouse of the abnormality he opened it early. The first thing that he saw was an image that had been transferred to the letter. It horrified him, and he felt a deep sinking feeling in his stomach. The picture was a little blurry but it was unmistakable who the person was in the picture. With his hands shaking he turned his attention down the page to the writing portion. He read the words slowly trying to keep his eyes from losing focus due to anger.

-One the first day of the new reign of the Kingdom of Gold the former General Loren L. Gordan was executed, following said kings uprising against the previous king. Due to the former kings orders all he was unable to go against the uprising and was quickly taken care of, the former king was scheduled to be killed on that day but somehow managed to escape execution...-

Falcon couldn't read any more of the words becouse his rage was so much he was unable to see. The bird on his shoulder felt the killing intent and flew away in fear. His claws became rigid and his wings opened up launching into the sky with a course set for the capital of the country. He no longer had any reason to hold back his fight against the humans who could not value the only redemptive aspect of their existences. As he was flying he remembered a conversation that he had with Gordan during a ceasefire. It was then when the former general had learned of his reason for fighting in the war and why he had always saved as many of the monsters as he could.
