Chapter 3 - The Meditation Room

They walked to a door in the back of the testing tower. Inscription decorated the door in ancient hieroglyphics. When the mother and child came closer, the inscription glowed faintly. The Red Kingdom tester grew more unease at this, his dream of uneventful nothingness growing to a close. While the knowing look from the Gold kingdom tester driving his temper to the sticking point. He thought that he could keep this under wraps but not with a middle age lord and a tester from a rival nation following his heels. He sighed woe is me, he thought. He would have call a meeting of the testers perhaps then he could sneak out.

The Gold kingdom tester pulled out a card and slid it into a small kiosk. The door slid open revealing a brightly lit room with a gold pyramid in the center surrounded by a white circular backless sofa. The room was white. "I am Asroth. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." He began sitting down. "The child can rest in a learning cube as we discus things."

In the learning cube Ruby fussed but fell asleep again. Her body tired from the transition and hunger. A small tube hooked to her mouth and nostril. She started to feel better. Her dreams were blurry and her mind tried to process more data. I definitely need healing. What happened to me I can clearly remember a leaf. I was catching a leaf now I'm here.

"You should sit... My Lady your body is still weak. She needs you." Asroth continued. He sat on one of the backless sofas. " You didn't have enough nutrients to carry her, the child is under weight. The learning cube will help stabilize her." Fluid started to fill the crib the child was in fluid similar to embryonic fluid. The fluid pink it was suffused with bio nutrients that would infiltrate by the pores to heal on a cellular level. The healing effects were simply astounding. While the child before had a slight unhealthy glow she showed signs of a more health vigor as well as weight gain. Her body starting to produce a small tuft of hair on her head. Her skin glistening with golden flecks as her veins synthesized the protein rich fluid. Many children would kill to have there first days in a learning cube. A learning cube was the discarded remnants of dragon eggs using science and technology man imitated the gestation of a dragon to speed the healing process and development of man kind.

"The cost..." The mother began. He waved her rebuttal away.

"The cost is negligible. I'll foster her myself why I haven't seen a glimmer that bright for sometime. It's however a pressing matter since this is Red Kingdom and I am a visitor. It is really up to the delegation of a nation to decide these things and I am not the only one interested why this young lord beside us is also interested in fostering her am I right." Asroth looked over at the lord. The lord was sitting in defeat that much fluid, why this old codger must be considerably wealthy.

"Asroth, I'm sorry to say I couldn't afford that much fluid. She will do well in your care. " The middle age lord sat down deflated. This was way beyond his price range. He would have ordered her special pills and healing soups but this learning cube was this his personal cube. He heard that some testers actually took on pupils and they did not skimp. It was the first time witnessing this opulence. "I am Lord Woodruff but I know when there is a better option. What say you tester of Red Kingdom."

"Hmmm, I see." Asroth said stroking his beard. He looked over to the other tester. The mauve tester hadn't moved still seeming in shock.

This was not an ordinary meditation room. After all he was aiming for ordinary. This was not ordinary, in fact he was starting to remember some pressing news but it was vague and foggy with shock he dare say, SHOCK! What was it everyone was going on before testing? Why did Asroth sound so familiar? The sinking feeling in his stomach that he missed something important. Yes Asroth, Asroth, Asroth.... Somethings not right wasn't he warned, what was it... Stay away if you can, avoid it, like a storm, beware Asroth! Noooooo! Whatever he wants just give it to him Asroth. Headache Asroth, the human storm Asroth. "Did you say you are called Asroth?"

"Yes, yes it's me, my name is Asroth. Do you need my calling card. It's a lovely satin finish." He said sending a card flying to the Red Kingdoms Tester. He seemed to be having some kind of apoplectic fit. "Are you alright young man. I seldom get to use it, other testers seem to flee when I'm around but you wouldn't know about this." He queried.

"Oh nooooooo, no-no! I know nothing perhaps your fame precedes you." He chimed in sweating. His black hair in a neat bowl cut shorn right by his ears with a front part. His beard had yet to come in so his face was smooth and young compared to Asroth who's beard nearly touched the ground shocking white. His face pale he tried to come off polite. "I am Kalis a humble tester of Red Kingdom, I would not get in your way, but ah-you see procedures. I think this is a matter for the council to discuss." Kalis wiped his brow with his matching handkerchief.

"Hmph! The council they've been dodging me for years. It's about time we had a good chat. I'm curious to see what this small chit will turn into, a gathering." Asroth eyes sparkled with hidden mirth his bushy brows lifted up. Kalis seemed to be losing his balance. "Sit, sit no need to fall down."

When Asroth was involved all the kingdoms wanted to be involved Kalis wanted no part of this as soon as he could he would extradite himself out of this storm.
