Chapter 6 - Chapter 6, Bonding Experience

6,000 Words Warning!

*Unedited

When Desmond first imagined his Beacon Team he thought they would be friendlier, sure it would have been a while until they officially became friends but now he realized how naive he was. The first thing his teammates did when Glynda brought them to their dorm is argued over beds, Nicholas wanted the middle one because in his mind it symbolized leadership, Rachel was being petty and didn't want Nicholas to have it, and Grace..she wanted the ceiling, the freaking ceiling. He's postive that had something to do with her faunus heritage, sloths usually sleep upside down on trees, they also go to the bathroom once a week...does she do the same? Desmond didn't want to know.

"I should've expected a menace like you would be a vexation." Nicholas said crossing his arms in indignation. Rachel happily responded by playing her electric guitar, loud enough to make Desmond jump and drop his book.

"First off, I can play where and when ever I want." Rachel leaned back on the bedboard, letting her prized guitar fall on her lap. . "Second, if Grace isn't whining about it then it's not a problem."

Nicholas's only retort was pointing upward where Rachel and Desmond caught sight of Grace somehow hanging from the roof, sleeping peacefully with blue fluffy ear muffs. The soldier turned back to the purple haired woman who merely shrugged nonchalantly and continued practicing her guitar.

"At least she isn't bitching." Rachel grinned when she saw a tic form on Nicholas's forehead, for a brief second Desmond thought Nicholas would attempt to throttle her.

"Listen you-" Nicholas paused abruptly his expression contorting in disgust as he sniffed the air. Desmond raised a curious eyebrow until doing the same, catching a foul odor which made him pinched his nose. The aroma was of seduction, evil, and lust, the soldier creaked his head slowly to the source revealing it to be the musician's bra laying on the middle of the floor, producing a deadly green gas.

"Never seen a bra before stonehead? No surprises there." Rachel said.

"Do you sweat grease?! Why does it smell like that?"

"Carrying these monsters around is hard work." Rachel gestured to her bust before giving the stone cold man a suggestive wink. "Who knows, play your cards right and you might get to-"

"Finish that sentence Apollo, and I will end you!" Nicholas glared fiercely daring her to try.

"What are you going to do soldier boy?" Rachel's sudden sultry voice could made Desmond blush even though it wasnt directed at him, if it effected Nicholas he didn't show it. "You gonna discipline me? Show me what those strong hands of yours can do to a innocent maiden like me~"

"Trust me, you're going to see what my hands can do." Nicholas's heavy fist struck the base of his palm, cracking his knuckles.

"Bring it Iron Ass!" Rachel adjusted the grip on her guitar using it as a makeshift bat. Desmond sighed watching his two teammates go at it...in a fight just to be specific.

11:00 PM.

After the drawn out battle, neither could land a solid hit so both of them gave in and decided to sleep in for the night. That didn't mean the room was intact, there's a broken window due to Rachel trying to throw a dresser at Nicholas's head and holes in the wall from Nicholas's missed punches. The dragon was postive there will be hell to pay when Glynda found out seeing that she was apart of the school's janitorial staff to some degree. However these things didn't cause Desmond's discomfort. Grace had been snoring like a Grizzly bear in hibernation for the past hour accompanied by Rachel's own, Desmond looked over to his other male teammate wondering how he slept through the madness. Say what you want about Atlesians but they wielded the fortiude of a mountain, Nicholas slept easily in his own little dream world filled with Oum knows what. Lucky bastard.

The Next Morning. 7:00 AM.

Desmond finally managed to fall asleep, it took hours of nonstop concentration to achieve his goal in entering dreamland. He yawned inwardly allowing his mind to ascend from his body and float  on to a warm cloud so he could lean his head back on the fluffy surface. Desmond felt safety here a place no person can disturb him-- a loud clank resembling thunder echoed in his mind. The dream cloud exploded sending him falling down from his personal haven into the maws of his crazed nightmare. Desmond's eyes shot open and flashing in all directions to find whoever dared to wake him, there will be merciless death by fire for the fool. Nicholas placed the metal bucket and latel aside once he saw his teammates begining to wake, except Grace her ear muffs protecting her sensitive hearing.

"Son of a bitch!' Rachel ripped her  eye mask off, glowering at the Ironwood. Honestly Desmond wouldn't blame her for killing him and if Atlas came by asking questions about his whereabouts, he wouldnt say a damn thing. "Da fuck is wrong with you? I'm going to shove that latel up your--"

"7:30..." Nicholas interjected.

"Execuse me?" Rachel blinked twice unsure of his meaning.

"7:30." Nicholas repeated, the dragon's eyes lowered a bit to see Nicholas in his Beacon uniform standing near the doorway. "Classes begin at eight."

There was dead slience in the room, questions spiraled through the dragon's mind and he guessed Rachel's was doing the same since she remained unresponsive. Why hadn't Nicholas woke them earlier unless...he knew the battle that was to come. There was said to be a tradition among roommates, one where they discuss who shall recieve bathroom rights in the morning to prevent skirmishes. There was time limits set in place and boundaries, but Team DRGN never found time to do so . Desmond and Rachel shared an unspoken message between each other, deciding who will take the sacred shower first and use up the hot water. Desmond wasn't surprise to see Rachel already moving.

Desmond pounced like a lion on a wandering gazelle from it's pack, landing on Rachel's and dragged her away from his prize. There was a hand that latched onto his foot desperately, yanking him off balance. Rachel crawled over the dragon much to his protest while another hand reached for the bathroom's door knob, inches away to victory.

Only for it to slam close in her face.

They stared in shock and confusion then all eyes turn to where Grace once was, to see an empty space. Desmond and Rachel simultaneously groaned in misery while Nicholas complimented the blond's tactics in allowing her enemies to become distracted so she could make her move. Desmond wanted to kick himself for not thinking of that,  he didn't have to since Rachel did the action for him.

In Professor Port's Class

Desmond's eyes flicked to the left where a Boarbatusk's head was stamped on the wall next to it was a well done painting of an Ursa being impaled by spears while humans stood victoriously over it's evaporating body. Hunters in training would see this as inspiration to pursue the life of a Hunter, Grimm would get out of dodge when they first set foot in here. Desmond had to admit the atmosphere was uncomfortable to him, flanked by Grimm heads glaring down at you like you were responsible for their murder. He knew the Grimm heads were fake but that didn't make them less disturbing.

"Monsters, demons, prowlers of the night. Yes, the creatures of Grimm have many names, but I...? I call them prey." The man who spoke was large and rotund, his moustache took up most his face. "Hello Class my name Professor Peter Port, and I will be your Grimm Studies Professor, here we will dive into the mysteries of humanity's most anicent and ferocious enemies. Here you will learn how to hunt, capture, and most importantly slay the unholy beast."

Port's voice slowly became mute to Desmond, his draconic eyes zeroed in on Ruby holding a not-so pleasant doodle of the portly man to the same white hair girl he argued with. Weiss threw a dissaproving scowl at the cloaked girl before turning back to Port's lecture. He was familiar with Ruby's social awkwardness, her anxiety made it hard to make friends unless it was a topic on weapons. Talking to Ruby about weapons was like talking to an astronomer about the stars, they'll talk for hours at a time. The average joe would think a fifteen year old's obessession with guns and swords made her psychotic and whoever raised her an uncaring parent,  Desmond would raise a certain finger their way and tell them to go play in traffic at night. Ruby and Yang had been through so much shit in their lives and are stronger because of it, Yang practically kept the family intact when Taiyang was in  a state of depression after losing two wives. They're far from what the average joe can call normal and that's how Desmond liked it.

Desmond inspected the room trying to take his mind off it, which brought his gaze to Nicholas writing notes diligently as he listened to the Professor's boasting. Rachel plugged her headphones in listening to what sound like rock music, there were a couple male students eyeing her goods but she paid little mind to them. Desmond hardly needn't turn his head to Grace, the snoring evident enough. Honestly, the blond had a problem.

"-and then I found myself face to face with the Alpha Beowulf with naught but my trousers, a hunting knife and my left shoe, I let out a howl challenging the creature to a duel." The man threw his arms wide. "I then took my shoe and proceeded to smack the Beowulf's nose, stunning the creature long enough for my trusty knife to puncture it's eyes."

"Is he still talking?" Desmond muttered under his breath, growing tired of this drawn out story. When will the actual teaching start? How the hell did he get job here? In fact, why were there four teachers managing thousands of hunters in training? Desmond tried to decipher such enigmas but an elbow slamming into his side interrupted his thoughts.

"Cease your daydreaming," Nicholas said sternly catching the dragon boy's lost daze. Desmond growled ready to implement his own retort. "If you're having trouble keeping up, you're welcome to copy my notes. I will not allow my partner to fall behind on the first day."

"Umm...thanks?" Desmond was a bit thrown off by kind offer, he known Nicholas for about a day and his attitude wasn't the best, to be fair Rachel hadn't been the most pleasant either.  "I'll try to keep up but I don't know about the other two."

"That's all I ask and don't concern yourself with them, at least you're rational enough to heed my advice." Nicholas brought his focus to the work an exasperated sigh escaping his lips.

He wondered if Nicholas was use to people following his demands. Atlas's combat prep schools must have taught things differently, like how to take on leadership roles in the Altesian Military since Hunters are ranked higher than the military. Kingdoms have their own way in teaching the future generation of protectors but why would Nicholas choose this one?Beacon Academy was supposedly the best in grooming amazing Hunters, which is why the acceptance rate was so spectacularly high. Nicholas most likely pursued strength and knowledge to follow in his father's footsteps and that already made them alike, judging by his performance yesterday against Weiss he wasn't too behind.

"Today I planned for a simple seminar, an introduction to our new youths to get a good grasp of my methods." Port gestured his hand to Team DRGN while the other twirled the tip of his mustache. "So I went out into the Emerald Forest last night and snatched myself an Alpha Beowolf, a magnificent specimen. Cunning, intelligent, agile, an explanatory predator. However, to one of you it will become your prey."

Desmond must had heard wrong, Did this poor senile old man just claim he caught an Alpha Beowulf and took it on school grounds, then wanted under trained students to kill it? Although he doubted the Professors would let any harm befall their students, there were some tales of the Headmaster launching students into Grimm infested forests for shits and giggles, Desmond was lucky to come late.

"Any Volunteers—"

"I volunteer," Nicholas's hand shot up like a rocket visible to the Port and the students around him. Without hearing the Professor's Response Nicholas quickly left the room to change into his combat gear.

"Finally for a second there I thought the Prof would start talking about the day he first took the training wheels off his bicycle." Rachel sounded bored. "Think Ironass got a chance? Alphas aren't push overs they're pretty mean motherfuckers  if you don't know how to put 'em down."

"I-I think he can do it," Desmond stammered, Alphas are superior to lesser Grimm, they are sometimes found leading large Beowolf packs. Their more developed bone plating allows them to take more damage and strengthen legs to move quicker. Nicholas's fighting style is close range based and he appears to be light on his feet despite his height. "Ozpin made him leader for a reason so why wouldn't he be strong? Hell, he could be better than us."

"Is that right?" Rachel snickered finding the thought amusing. Desmond slightly glared at her arrogance "We'll see if he measures up to fit the role."

Nicholas came back into the room in his combat uniform. He took a position before the man and readied herself, even as the overweight teacher strode over to a panel on the side of his desk. Peter's foot slammed down on the panel and suddenly a trap door in the middle of the class opened.  Nicholas readied himself raising his guard into a proper boxing stance.

"What I am curious about is why doesn't he use a weapon?" Desmond raised an eyebrow, it wasn't rare to see Hunters fight bare handed but in  situations where they are unarmed, it was essential for a Hunter to learn basic marital arts. Fighting Grimm unarmed was not impossible just really fucking hard.

"Like he said to me last night, 'you're going to see what his hands can do.'"

Desmond tried his hardest to ignore Rachel's use of phrasing, also her quivering lips and the way she rubbed her thighs together. Seriously what the hell was wrong with his team?

Steadily the trap door began to elevate something to the surface, he assumed it was an Iron cage to contain the Grimm. He saw how Nicholas's shoulders tensed not in fear but in anticipation. The class matched this, waiting to see the massive trapped Beowolf, clawing at the metal bars and shaking it's prison.

Only to see the remnants of a torn apart metal cage, it was evident something definitely use to lurk in there.

Professor Port froze resembling the world's most largest statue as many of the students began chattering amongst each other. If it were possible the man would had shrunk and scurry away in the nearest mouse hole, meaning this wasn't apart the lesson. Which also meant a big ass, eight foot tall, rabid dog was roaming freely around the goddamn school.

"P-Professor, I don't want to question your 'methods'. But isn't there suppose to be a man eating freak of nature in there." Desmond gritted his teeth, tightening his hold on table that the wood gave away.

"Of course there isn't lad!" Port's poker face was well crafted but Desmond wasn't fooled since a single droplet Of sweat poured down his face."Why do you think we are called Hunters my boy? We track the creatures of Grimm not the other way around. Don't always expect the Grimm to come to you."

"My apologies Professor, but isn't such a thing dangerous ?" Weiss was the first to argue. "Other students may get injured-"

"Then eliminate it before that happens!" Port interjected a little too fast. "Besides I believe the young minds here can defend themselves!"

"Yeah who wouldn't expect a Beowolf to come pouncing on them during their lunch hour in a secured Academy? Screw the people who aren't." Desmond said the sarcasm thick enough to cut through a Ursa.

"Exactly Mr Royal!" Port gave a thumbs up to the dragon boy. "The lesson here is always remaining vigilant even in the safest environments."

"I thought it was how to track Grimm?" Rachel giggled at Port's attempts to spin this to his favor.

"The first team to successfully dispatch the Alpha, preferably before Goodwitch finds it, are excused from this week's ten book report on the anatomy of Deathstalkers."

A distinctive red blur zoomed through the door with a protesting heiress in her hand, the student staff were quick to follow their lead shoving each other forcefully aside. Desmond could only drag his palm down his face.

Moments Later...

Team DRGN walked the halls of Beacon, Desmond doing his best to maintain a calm expression while his heart hammered in his chest. He wanted to give his team the right impression after all, who wanted a anxious Faunus for a teammate anyways. Nicholas's expression was sharp and focused, Rachel's was excited to cause havoc, Grace's appeared uncaring. He thought the sloth girl weird enough, her apathetic personality was starting to freak him out. Would she even care if a meteor fell upon Remnant and sent the world into an apocalypse?

"Alright," Nicholas paused bringing the rest to a halt. The soldier turned to his fellow hunters in training, a glare fixed on them. "What do we know about Alphas?"

Desmond tilted his head at the question, by the looks of it the General's son knew enough about Beowolves to give an entire biography, but he supposed Nicholas was testing the competence of his Team, as leaders should.

"All bark and no bite if ya ask me." Rachel obviously didn't pick up on that.

"Older and more experienced, intelligent enough to coordinate their packs." Desmond said. "Unlike the younger ones, they won't go in guns blazing then hope they get lucky. Alphas will survey opponents and capitalize on their weaknesses, similar to a regular wolf."

"Correct," Nicholas agreed. "Alphas have a strong sense of self preservation. There's a high probability the target will flee if endangered, I advise we plan our-"

"Yeah, Yeah, listen up cause I'm going to say this once." Rachel raised a hand to stop him. "I don't know what kind of shit they teach you in Atlas but in Vaccuo, the longer you stay on your ass, the more bodies you'll be burying. True Hunters relish the chance to test their mettle."

"A wise hunter knows when to fight and not to." Nicholas shot back aiming a scowl.

"Typical Atlesians caring about results instead of deaths. I'm betting your good old daddy taught you that?"

"Results prevent more needless death and if you ever speak about my father so condescendingly again, you'll be added to it."

"Is that a threat or a promise Ironwood?"

Desmond visibly flinched when Rachel's hand caressed the shaft of Sinister, were they really going to start a fight in the middle of the fucking corridor? Desmond looked over his shoulder to see if Grace will act as their mediator this time and what do you know? He found an empty space where she use to be, he swore that woman was a ninja. Desmond sighed then took a step into the firing line.

"You both need time to cool down. Let's just find the Grimm first before we make any plans, sound good?" Desmond smiled warmly at the two.

"I'm chill with anything as long as Iron ass, doesn't get in my way." Rachel rolled her eyes.

"Out of respect for you, I will restrain my ire." Nicholas huffed. "Let us proceed in our search, the others must had surely found it by now."

Scene Change.

The proud Alpha was having the oddest day in it's eternal life. Not too long ago, yesterday according to it's memory, it was traveling alongside the pack hunting for wandering humans who dared to enter their territory. There would be the occasional animal like a wolf or a bear that challenged it to a turf war, they mostly ended in dismemberment of the inferior species. Grimm didn't mind animals, they were a waste of energy and posed as little threats to their survival. Humans were a different story, it learned that fact through countless battles against the menace. Each time the Grimm prevailed via escaping while the pack held the Hunter off, poor fools never stood a chance and returning later to finish what they started. While Grimm used tooth and claw, the mortals wielded machines that could shoot fire and transform into mighty blades capable of puncturing their armor. What happen yesterday solidify the fact humans we're a formidable foe, when an overweight human ambushed it's pack and blew out it's kneecaps. The Alpha hadn't felt such pain since it was a young mindless one just learning how to aim for the jugular.

The overweight man dragged it into a dark confined cage where it stayed for hours wondering what the sick human devil would do. For many years it witness Grimm being torn apart and dissected for sport, if their bodies didn't have the ability to evaporate they'd be rugs for the humans to walk on. The Alpha refused to go out like that, with the power of a charging Goliath it broke down it's prison then made a run for it. Least to say, the Grimm never expected to see so many humans in one place. The creature sniffed the air catching the familIar yet sweet scent of negativity, why they felt such an emotion without their kind rampaging through the halls was beyond it's comprehension. Were humans miserable all the time? Especially that particular blond haired female with a purple cape that completely missed it standing there, to be fair she had a stack of papers blocking her vision. The Grimm decided to investigate the office where she emerged from thinking there was an exit, it tore apart the puny room, scattering papers that were organized neatly on the desk and threw velvet red couches across the room. The Alpha sniffed once more discovering a strange scent in the bottom desk drawer. The creature wrapped it's maws around the handle then pulled it open to reveal a bottle containing a clear substance labeled 'Deathstalker 96% Alc Vol.' For some reason the Grimm felt insulted.

Eventually the Alpha left the office not without breaking the bottle over the desk and retreating outside. There were less humans outside than inside the dreaded school, above it's head something giant flew over the skies. The Alpha's first guess were the majestic Nevermore that plucked screaming humans into the skies, only to find metallic machines carrying humans. The beast tilted it's head in curiosity, the flying metal monstrosity could maybe fly it back home if tamed. The creature was about to head towards it but a powerful presence stopped it dead in it's tracks. The Alpha turned to see a blue eyed female with blond hair staring down, it's eyes were cold and murderous akin to it's own. Was she observing it? Why make her presence known now? A small part of it's mind which the Grimm rarely used was telling it to flee. This sloth Faunus's aura was high in quantity and quality, the skirmish will end in it's death.

Suddenly the Grimm's instinct warned it to evade a red blur that swept pass it's snout. The Alpha leapt back, sliding it's paws across the concrete. Four figures were grouped together in front of it, one red, one white, one black, and one yellow. The Alpha never understood the human language and never tried to, but if it had to make an inference. White appeared to be criticizing Red making her emit the scent of sadness . Yellow was saying something to comfort Red while Black was smart enough not to take her eyes off the proud Alpha. The Alpha would help her friends realize their mistakes when it lunged at White, claws swinging down at her tender throat. White would be gurgling on her own blood if Black hadn't shoved her aside and took the attack for her. The Alpha expected agonizing screams only to be rewarded with Black vanishing once it's claw made contact. Weren't Faunus suppose to bleed? The creature's thoughts were cut short when Black came from above and kicked off it's snout. Alpha covered it's sensitive nose in pain exposing itself to Yellow's fearsome right hook that collided with it's belly. Luckily the Alpha was more durable since the impact would've sent lesser Grimm to their graves, instead the creature was sent flying a great distance. The Alpha spiraled in the air then gracefully landed on it's paws, the Beowolf noted not to get hit by the blond again unless it received an explosive death.

The red one was an unseeable blur, storming to the Alpha's left side and  swinging for an instant decapitation. The older beast moved swiftly, avoiding the overgrown gardening tool much to Red's surprise did she really think it mindless like the lessers?  The Alpha would make sure she knew that fatal mistake, it's claws catching Red in her thigh. Her scream was music to the Grimm's ears as she fell back to her team while clutching her wound, Yellow moved to her sister immediately while White and Black prepared to attack. The Alpha knew Red's aura will heal her wounds fast, deciding it was best to flee before they charged together. The Alpha leapt over some bushes and ran until the sound of gunfire dulled, coming to a stop in appeared to be a courtyard. The creature sensed another presence besides it's own, immediately turning to regard the three dumbstruck students.

_________

"Shit, Alpha!" Desmond said withdrawing Draco from his back.

"We can see it dumbass," Rachel snarled raising Sinister to aim and fire a miniature rocket. Instead of charging blindly like any Beowolf should, the Alpha crouched on all fours letting the rocket fly over and blow a hole through the concrete wall. "Hold still damn it!"

Sinister fired rocket after rocket missing the Grimm but destroying everything else in it's path. Nicholas snatched the hulking weapon from Rachel's reckless hands, glaring down at the shorter musician.

"Fool, you're doing more damage to the school than you are the Grimm." Nicholas tossed the weapon behind him. In Desmond's mind was an unnecessary action considering the Alpha was right there. "Stay where you can't cause interfere, try learning something while you're at it." The soldier sprinted off.

"Screw you dude!" Rachel shouted spitefully moving to retrieve her weapon.

Nicholas threw a  left hook hitting the Alpha's forearm then followed up with a right jab. The Alphas back stepped and swung , missing the agile fist fighter and earning a solid punch to it's torso managing to break bone. The Grimm backhanded the human in retaliation, sending him sprawling to the floor. The Alpha pounced on Nicholas's prone form clamping it's maws down on his exposed shoulder. Desmond flinched expecting to hear flesh being torn yet was greeted with  something entirely different.  What use to be soft human skin was now hard rock, he may had thought it an illusion but the way the Alpha recoiled in pain told him otherwise. Before Nicholas could get his clutches on the Beowolf it retreated allowing Nicholas the freedom to get on his feet.

Desmond added to the pressure, closing the distance with the Beowolf and slashing at the creature's legs, the effort was futile since the Grimm merely hopped over the sword and landed behind Desmond and rammed it's shoulder into his backside. Desmond staggered forward using the forced momentum to swing around and slash downward. The Alpha side stepped before rearing it's paw back and bringing it across Desmond's face emitting a loud slap. Desmond  spun on his heel collapsing to the ground, his vision swam as he attempted to get up only for Rachel to clumsy trip over and fall on him.

The Beowolf blinked owlishly at the amateurs unsure whether to attack or laugh at the comical display instead it did neither, dodging a punch from the rear. The Alpha waited for a potential follow up though soldier had put too much weight into his punch, causing him to lose his footing and tumbled onto his other teammates.

Again the Alpha was conflicted until deciding to do the ladder, the Grimm raised both it's razor sharp claws ready to put an end to their antics. What it failed to see was the blue kunai cutting through the air at high speeds and piercing it's left eye. The Alpha howled in pain thrashing around like a headless chicken, it swapped attention to the blond haired sloth walking slowly towards it. The proud Alpha  snarled in warning and fled the area. Grace sighed and gave a look that spelled 'really?' at her teammates. After regaining themselves, Nicholas glared at Rachel all restraint lost.

"I thought I ordered you to stand down?!" Nicholas boomed his deep voice making the crows holler and fly off.

"And I thought we made it clear that I don't give two fucks!" Rachel snapped. "General Son or not, touch my weapon again and I'll put it through your skull."

"Try it, I'll put you down like the piece of human garbage you are! Why are you here in a school occupied with true protectors? We'll all feel safer if you weren't around tarnishing the name of a Hunter. Crawl back into the vile sands you filthy animal!"

That struck a nerve within Rachel, she stepped up to cleave the soldier in two. Nicholas took an aggressive step forward as well, his hand preparing to catch the musician by the throat.

Desmond wasn't having none of that.

"Enough!" Desmond's arm swept the air discharging a wave of fire that ignited the ground between his teammates. He had enough, first a Beowolf smacks the life out of him, next he was crushed by his pathetic excuse for a team, and now they were trying this petty crap? Snowball's chance in hell. "What type of elementary school logic was implanted in your heads that you think this shit is cool? We're Hunters damn it, we don't have time to kill each other. Piss off the person who's suppose to be watching your back, you'll find something lodged in it, and it certainly won't be a Grimm!"

"You should be telling that to—" Rachel's words died an ugly death as Desmond's flaming eyes focused on her.

"Real talk, Rachel." Desmond scowled. "Stop fucking baiting him and he won't act like an ass, it isn't complicated. Same for you, Nick!" The dragon spun around to the soldier, daring him to make a snarky response. Nicholas glanced at the flames that were spreading close to his feet likely  guided by Desmond's bizarre semblance, then decided it was best to nod.

"Good." Desmond took a slow and measured breath, the fire around them faded as fast as they came into existence. "Please...let's make a better plan and—"

"If we're done  may I add my input?" An undistinguished voice caught their attention, at first they  considered someone had approached without their notice.  That theory was thrown out the window when their most silent and laziest blond haired teammate spoke again. "The Grimm isn't worth all this trouble."

"Wow, I guess you were getting tired of that 'strong silent type' act." Rachel elevated her eyebrow.

"Why indulge in your meaningless arguing? That will add more fuel to the fire." Grace said. "Besides, I'm not here to be a social butterfly. Would you like to hear my input or not?"

"I-it would be s-strongly appreciated." Desmond stammered returning to his default nervous personality.

"The Alpha is now blind in one eye and cornered, it will most likely try to flee the school in order to lick it's wounds.I wouldn't put it pass it to mount a Bullhead and ride it to Vale. Which will prove troublesome to find it in the future, our best chance is to intercept there."

"Grace is correct," Nicholas said. "If the Alpha reaches the city who knows how many it will kill before caught. We need to put an end to it."

"I see an idea brewing in that head of yours, Ironwood. Got something to share?" Rachel grinned.

"Desmond how much control do you have over your fire?" Nicholas asked the fire dragon.

"Varies depending on how much I use and the distance." Desmond said. "Say if I shoot a fireball, I'm able to guide it's trajectory and choose where it goes. However, if it gets out of range I lose control. "

"Are you able to summon enough to accumulate a smokescreen?" Nicholas retorted.

"I-I never tried."

"Please do." Nicholas shifted his gaze on Rachel. "Any limitations on your semblance?"

"None I want to tell," Rachel shrugged, it was understandable she wouldn't trust them, she literally met them yesterday. Desmond withheld that information more on instinct, his father always told him that not everyone can be trusted. "I have to hold back a little to keep people around me from becoming deaf."

"What about yourself?"

"My semblance gave me an immunity, a bomb can go off in my ear and it won't affect me." Rachel claimed. Desmond always wondered how a semblance can alter the body in such a way? Why didn't he burn alive when summoning fire? Souls were truly a mystery to the people of Remnant.

"Interesting, you two will have the most vital part in our plan then." Nicholas smiled, the two hunters tilted their heads in unison.

Scene Change

The Alpha reached it's destination, Beacon's airport stood before it. One flight to freedom, soon it will be one with it's pack. The Alpha sniffed the air catching the stench of smoke and ash. Where there was smoke there was fire, and where there was fire there was negativity. The Alpha gave in to it's primal nature, tracking smell to a flame not even larger than a campfire ignited in the middle of the ground. The damn smoke was certainly hindering it's smell, that was dangerous, it couldn't detect emotions without it's nose. The Alpha was prepared to flee until a white noise caused great distress to it's ears. The Alpha's instincts were on overdrive, there was danger in the area but where will it come? It couldn't hear because of the sudden noise, it couldn't smell because of the smoke. It's sight was damage because the Faunus took it's eye. The last thing it had left was touch...and it could feel the vibrations in the earth. The Alpha dove to the side avoiding a charging human who nearly punched it's head clean off . The Alpha would grin if it had the ability, these humans miss their only chance to kill it. The creature gave them credit for their creativity yet it wasn't enough. The Alpha proved once again it's superiority that is until a Sai ripped through it's flesh and bone pushing out of it's back. How did the blond hair girl get so close without it's notice? Of course...she struck it's blind side, the other human was simply a diversion.

Clever Girl.

______

Port watched as his student, Grace ripped her Sai from the specimen's belly. The Alpha took it's growl before turning to dust in the wind. The rest of Team DRGN while not friends celebrated all together. Complimenting each other on their contributions. Port assumed that the prey would escape into Vale leading to a pandemic. He didn't know what was worst, Glynda finding out or the Grimm reeking havoc. Port chose the former and took the task upon his shoulders. That is until Team DRGN actually listen to his teachings. Port was no fool, far from it actually. He hides his lessons within his glorious tales of wonder, in order to be a Hunter one must look at the bigger picture. Port's eyes widen when he felt his scroll vibrate, he looked at the caller ID with sheer horror.

Glynda Goodwitch.

Professor Peter Port was smart to let it ring.

Sorry to make the ending so short.
