Chapter 78 - Mother and Son's hide and seek (4)

" Do you think Mum already knows about Yvonne? "

Emil asked immediately Daniel step foot in the room. The room was a bit secluded from the other rooms. And it was on the fifth floor.

Being suddenly questioned, startled Daniel. His steps came to a halt. He slightly frowned as Emil's words sunk in and became clear to him as to what his brother meant.

" What happened? ---- What did Mum tell you?" Daniel sounded worried. He quickened his steps and sat beside his brother on the two in one sofa.

There was a glass table before them. And on the table sat three wine bottles. One was already drunk to half before Daniel came in.

"Drinking this much is bad for your health."

"Do you think Mum already knows about Yvonne?" Emil repeated his earlier question while pouring himself some wine. His voice was a bit hoarse from drinking.

"Did she talk about sister in-law?" Daniel asked a question back.

" She haven't mentioned her yet. But ..." Emil trailed off, not knowing what to say next after mouthing out that one word.

"As much as I know Mum, she's not someone to keep quiet once she gets to know something. Am sure she would have already created a scene if she knows about sister in-law." Daniel said and poured a glass of wine. He held it for couple of seconds before taking a sip.

" You're right" Emil nodded his head in agreement. Their mother is that kind of person. She's not one to hold herself back !

"So will you tell me what happened that made you come here at this time of the day ?" Daniel spoke as he took another sip of his wine. But this time, he let the drink linger for some seconds before allowing it to slowly go down his throat.

Emil took mouthful of the wine and forced it down his throat, " She's driving me crazy !" he exclaimed in annoyance.

" Don't you think this whole thing is quite suspicious? I mean what does she see in that white lotus." Emil continue to say as he unconsciously clenched the wine glass tightly in his palm.

"I've been thinking the same thing, you know." Daniel drunk the remaining wine in the glass in one shot. He closed his eyes only to open after couple of seconds and said, "Actually... there's one thing we can do." his eyes flashed with coldness as he mouthed out these words.

"And .." Emil looked doubtful at his brother, " that is?" he completed his question after taking mouthful of the wine.

"Let's take her out for the picture"

Emil raised his brows perplexedly, " taking her out, how?" he asked

" Simple, let's cut her lifespan short. " Daniel said without a hint of mercy.

Emil spat out the drink in his mouth when he heard his brother's words, " Brother, don't scare me like this again. --- When was the last time you killed an ant ?!" he said teasingly.

Daniel chuckled but didn't say anything. Emil opened his lips ready to say something, but closed them seconds after, not knowing what to say next. The process continued for a minute before he mouthed out six words.

" She is not worth our effort." And as an afterthought, he said" Besides killing is a sin. We won't taint our hands for the likes of her." His eyes turned cold as he spat out those words.

"Lina said something that got me thinking." Daniel looked at his brother in the eyes " Do you think Mum already has a candidate ready for me to marry? he asked. His eyes showing signs of worry and hidden fear.

Emil held his brother's hand and weakly smiled. He wanted to assure him there won't be anything of that sort, but he couldn't bring himself to lie to him.

Because their mother has always been a woman of 'perfection'. She always want everything to go according to her plans and wishes.

"Do you think you know better than me ? Am your mother and I want the best for you." Kathryn would always say whenever she senses her sons going against her orders.

"Ready yourself for her" Emil simply advised as he patted Daniel's shoulder as a form of consolation.

"I know" Daniel nodded his head knowingly.

....

"Dear, am sorry for Emil's inability to make it for the date. He's busy with work, and he has promise to make it up to you some other day." Kathryn stared at her face in the rare view mirror as she told lies upon lies to an angry Louisa over the phone.

"Okay Mum, then... I will wait for him" Louisa unhappily relented.

Kathryn felt a bit guilty for lying to her. And also for raising her hopes again. Deep down she knew it isn't going to be easy convincing his stubborn son into it.

"Dear I have a call coming through, I will talk to you later." Kathryn said and hastily ended the call.

Her guilt was beginning to eat her up so she lied about the incoming call.

On the other end of the line, Louisa stared viciously at the screen which had turned dark. She was sure Kathryn had lied to her about Emil being busy.

"Mum, I want to get back at them. What do you think I should do?" she turned to look at Leah as she asked.

"Patience pays my dear. And the best revenge is always served as last." Leah said and hugged her sulking daughter.

" But Mum ..."

"Mum will help you when the time is right. Don't rush." Leah continue to say.
