There was a sombre look to his features almost as if he understood the sway of disappointment radiating from Amber's frame. And the one that permeated through the air of the room. They both seemed to draw closer to their soulmate, soaking up the excuse to be okay. And she took it, her hands holding theirs.
"And if he misses the count and you're not there on time, it's alright okay JieMi? This is totally not anyone's fault. It's just fucked up that they assumed you'd all make it on time with a longer stage." She patted JieMi's hand, pressed a kiss to his knuckle. "I'll do a fancy crowd call here because I'm up next. We'll draw attention to me. They won't be staring at your legs half out of the crowd. I know we're perfectionists, but I've got you both, alright? Just depend on me."
"Yeah," were their grave nods, and she moved kissing their cheeks, ignoring the makeup.
"Okay, we've got this boy. Apologise to each other one more time. Can't have both of you looking so sad right before the concert." They froze, seemed a little hesitant, and she tapped at their hands easing them out of the awkwardness. "You can do it."
"Sorry Karu, I wasn't trying to stress you out beforehand." JieMi exhaled, seemed a little down.
"Yeah, I'm sorry, I will do my best," Hikaru nodded, pressed himself closer to her shoulder.
Amber grinned. "Shake on it and look at each other's eyes."
They did that, with a shy smile on their faces.
"Now kiss on the lips, and start making out," she flipped her hair. "Because I do love a good enemy to lovers make-up sex."
"The hell?" JieMi erupted, cheeks going flaming red. "Amber…"
"NOT HIM," was the babbled remark from Hikaru. "Only if he's in your body, and even then, I'll only do it if I really had to..."
"I'm joking," she chuckled, "kiss me on the cheek." They did that without a word, and she grinned, pulling them up. "Thanks, I think you're worrying about the wrong people. I'm the disaster waiting to strike. Casper's got so much to do." There was a shift and Ezra watched as her body slipped back into the elder, growing taller and lankier.
"You're doing perfect," was Hikaru's quick answer, finding it so easy to latch on a new topic. "You're better than us at stage changes. I've still got Thailand's stage stuck in my head."
JieMi nodded. "And you've only just learnt this three hours ago?"
"Two," she boasted pulling them along towards the stage. "Please continue stroking my big fat and long ego."
"Why?" JieMi laughed, seemed genuinely better with her banter and jokes. "Going to cum?"
"In these thongs?" she dug her thumbs into her pants and snapped it hard. The two snorted, following her closely. "Nasty. Let me tell you a secret, and please don't tell Casper. I just really hated the wedgie." She feigned a loud whisper. "I've got a maxi-pad up there."
"You did not," Hikaru gaped at her. "Amber! It could show up on camera!"
"It will most definitely not," she declared proudly. "I have observed every inch of Casper's ass in the mirror and have put him through everything he could possibly do. There is no way they will catch it no matter what I do because it's also glued so tight on that thing, I could use it as a face mask."
"Good God."
The laughter continued all the way to stage. The banter drifted into tease from the two, breaking away all the tension the way a family could. Ezra watched impressed as they left looking a thousand times happier.
"Goddamn, save me too baby," was Ezra's teasing jab, genuinely impressed by her ability to keep them happy. "You're a better leader than Casper. If we had you in the team this whole time, I swear to God we wouldn't fight at all. "
"Well sir, I'm your soulmate," she shrugged, raised a brow as she took the microphone from staff. "I've licked every inch of all of you from cock to balls. Once you've done that you can read the guy's expression easily. And there's only a couple of faces to learn once you've memorised the entire orgasm sequence." He must have looked scandalized because she laughed, shoving against him lightly on the hip. "They're just a little stressed up. It's easy to explode like that. It's normal but so important to deal with it properly. They've got good intentions."
"And you would know that?"
"Of course, I do," she answered. "I'm roasting in stress when I hold this microphone. I feel like I could die. You know how much I hate public speaking." He went quiet at that, grew serious at her words. He hadn't really considered her mental health when it came to the switch.
"Do you hate it?" he asked, felt the need to sweep her in his arms and take her away then.
"God no, don't get me wrong. I fucking love it," she beamed at him. "I think it shows in my performance. It's like being a part of something my soulmates love. It's very cool to be working together with you."
"Because you love me?" he asked, taking her hand Casper or not. And she seemed surprised, eyes widening as he drew closer. But Amber couldn't see the glow of her skin, the way she shimmered softly in the dark appeared almost angelic as the soundtrack groaned loudly in the background.
"Because I love you," she agreed.
Behind them, the music began to play.

When he woke the next day, exhausted and yawning as he made his coffee, she'd been smiling, and seemed oddly pleased with herself with Rumiko in her arms. It wasn't easy for her to stay as Amber. But when they were together, she tried to as much as she could. He blinked as flowers were thrust into his arms, red roses with baby's breath. Her hazel eyes were sparkling, glittering into a shade that was almost gold.
"What is this?" he gawked.
"It looked like you, so I got them for you." She had a bouquet for each man, and they blinked and seemed confused as they stepped out of the room. There was something different about them, and Ezra asked if they had any meaning, but she only laughed. "Don't look them up, I just know everyone's floral preferences from what all of you chose on set."
"You didn't have to get me flowers," was MinJae's answering chuckle, in his arms were lilacs. "I've got ours on my head."
"Just a gesture. It feels nice. But I knew you flower haters would be so mad, so I went to the electronics store and got all the new stuff. One for each guy. Knew you can't step a foot into that horror zone of crazy fans." And she pulled them out with Rumiko bouncing on her hip, dragged the huge bag across the floor like Santa. "And that fancy speaker you wanted?" she'd smiled at Ezra and winked. "Got it at a fucking fifty percent discount." She began to sing, her hand on Rumiko's little arm. "Tell Mama she's a legend."
"But what's the occasion?" was Casper's panicked response, already flying out of sleepy stupor and into overdrive. "Did we forget something? Is it our anniversary?" MinJae was spinning around the room, already mumbling out all the dates. Hikaru flipping through a calendar with pain in his eyes. "Have you been counting?"
"It's nothing, not Valentines, not someone's anniversary. It's just me."
His heart was melting as he sat nestled in bed with a gooey grilled cheese sandwich that was to die for and a pretty array of gadgets that he'd been looking at for the longest time. His excitement made her laugh, and their baby had answered in kind, giggling with them all. It was all so fucking cute of her. And she had the whole team on the floor ripping through personalised items. JieMi and Sieon cooing over new cameras. Casper and Oliver sobbing over a tablet. MinJae squealing at a new pair of the fanciest boots. And Hikaru over a shirt that had his face on it.
And it wasn't the first time that Amber made apparent how nice it was to have her on tour with them. Because God he'd be her for the day, wrestling with the little demon. His nipples aching, his body just falling apart, and she'd arrive with ice packs for his chest and a massage to his feet, whispering to him the events of the day. And he'd moan as she spoon-fed him jelly and kissed his cheeks. Because she was a better husband than he was, with her arms around him.
Now that she understood what it was like to be an idol, it was so easy to talk with her. The topics flowing, their concerns mingling. He loved her, he really did, but it was so much easier to fall deeper into love, to watch her with the tiniest smile when he caught her eye across the room in whatever shape and form. The little sweet curve of her lips. His heart was falling so hard, it grew warmer and then too big for his body.
He caught her once with her teeth snagged against her lower lip. Her thumb swiped across the screen, feet tapping as she considered a new purchase. A hesitant laugh as he approached and a curious little slam of her hands over the screen.
"What are you searching for?" he'd teased, brushed his arm around her waist. She was MinJae this time, but that didn't matter just as much as it did a month ago.
"Nothing."
"Then show it to me—"
"Nope, it's a present for another day!"
And she was transforming, growing into Amber, Amber with hair that tickled his cheek and smelled like apple pie. Amber with eyes so warm that they melted his soul and made him gooey inside. Amber with a body so lush and soft, so pretty and begging for his touch. Amber with everything he needed and wanted.
Amber the woman that he was so desperately in love with he thought of it a hundred times a day, dreamt of getting down on one knee to propose. And he would once the tour had ended, on a beach with the wind, the sand, and the sea.
His cock throbbed, swelled with life and dripped with pre-cum, already begging to be inside her.
Fuck.
Now, if only he could show her exactly how much he loved her.
