Chapter 83 - Drinking (8)

Yang answered Shi as he took another sip of his fine wine.

Shi looked around the room and asked Yang another question upon seeing numerous bottles in his wine rack,

"Yang, do you drink a lot?"

Yang paused and looked at Shi to figure out how she got to that conclusion when he saw her looking at his wine rack with a concentrated gaze.

Chuckling a bit he told her,

"Well, actually I would like to say that I do not drink that much, but then looking back at this room, I do think that would be lying.''

"Haha.."

Shi's pearl-like laughter filled the room as she heard Yang talk about how saying no would be considered lying and then laughed even more when she saw the dubious face he made upon hearing her laugh,

The face looked like he seemed at war with himself about whether he should have lied to her or not.

And in reality, Shi was not that far away from her assumption,

For, Yang actually had the thought whether he should tell her what he really thought or should he just lie about it to appear cool and composed in front of her.

But in the end, the little voice inside his head told him not to lie to Shi even if the truth might hurt the picture she had of him in her mind.

'Sigh'

Yang thought to himself as he saw Shi laugh freely at his expense,

'Looks like my image is now ruined forever as a drunkard! How am I supposed to clear this one!'

He lamented to the heavens.

But in actuality, he was as wrong as he could be,

For Shi was actually happy with his answer,

His answer showed her how much Yang cared about not lying to her and she greatly appreciated it,

For her the most crucial thing in a relationship was not love but trust, for love could be cultivated even after the start of the relationship, but if there was no trust from the beginning then the relationship, had only one end according to her,

Heartbreak

And to those who told her that the most important thing was love, she strongly backed her thinking while pointing out to the existence of arranged marriages.

While she thoroughly agrees that one of the worst outcomes of such a similar arranged marriage were her own parents, she believes that the problem lied with her father.

He was the one who used her mother in order to establish his position as the successor and had cheated on her mother because he did not trust her.

Thinking about all this stuff, Shi suddenly felt sad at heart, so she took a big sip of her wine as she tried to push down the negative emotions in her heart which were spiraling in her heart.

Taking yet another sip, Shi turned her gaze to the fluffy carpet beneath her foot as she thought back to the time she discussed her views about relationships with her first brother.

At that time her first brother simple sat there for a while after listening to her, and after what seemed like a really long time, he patted her hair clumsily the same way he did when she was a child and told her,

'Shi it's not that you are wrong, but do you think you could spend your entire life with a man you do not love but simply trust not to hurt you?'
