"Package was delivered without any suspicion. "
Housekeeper Ying told the person on the other side as she dropped the call from her side, turning back to look at Shi's room she lamented in her heart.
'I am sorry miss that I betrayed you, but this is what is best for you.'
She knew the reason why her miss was taking those pills, and she also knew about the ill effect those pills had on the body if used for a prolonged period of time.
That is the reason why her brothers had ages ago changed her pills to placebo, but of course, they did not tell her the truth as the peace of her brain should not be affected.
If by lying to her, they could keep her safe from the side effects of the drugs, then so be it.
As long as she believed that she was taking those pills, she would be able to sleep peacefully at night without any nightmares of the disaster that she persevered through.
*********
Downstairs both, Yang and butler Yan are still in checkmate as Yang tried to hold back his rage in front of his senior who had looked after him since the day he was born.
Exhaling loudly, he finally told him,
''Butler Yan Shi is my choice and she will remain my choice and when I say that I know what I am doing I mean it, and yes I am pretty sure that the reason Shi is with me is certainly not for my fortunes, she is rich herself and I am the one in reality who is chasing after her.''
Butler sighed as he replied
"Master, I worry for you."
''Don't''
Came Yang's curt reply,
"But master....''
Yang cut him off in the middle of his sentence as he continued,
"Don't worry about me."
"As you say, master.''
Butler Yan bowed before Yang as a gesture of him stepping back on this matter.
"Now I don't want to hear this topic again and also inform the rest of the servants about it, I will not tolerate anyone bad mouthing Shi, is that clear?
Anyway, where is Shi?"
"The miss is resting upstairs in her room."
Just as the sentence was finished an impatient Yang ran up the stairs two at a time as he sprinted in the direction of her room, after he confessed to her last night he got so busy in his company matters that he never got a chance to get her answer.
Feeling guilty about leaving her alone for an entire day, he quickened his steps as he dashed in her direction.
Reaching in front of her door in record time, he waited for a second for his breathing rate to return back to normal. After he calmed down, he stood up straight as he knocked on the door.
Knocking once, he waited for her reply, but after a few good moments when he heard no reply, he opened the door a little, to peek inside and that is when he saw her.
Standing in the balcony, near the railing. She silently stood there with her back turned towards the door, and Yang watched like a sailor captured by a siren, as her long platinum hair fluttered in the air.
Yang walked towards her in a trance. Stopping just behind her, he lifted his hand as he tried to touch the stray strands of her hair, and just as he had thought they truly were like silk.
And if feeling that someone was trying to touch her, Shi turned back.
And that was the moment Yang got out of his daze as he looked at her eyes which were red at the rims.
Started he held her in his arms as he nervously asked her,
"What happened Shi? Did someone say anything to you?''
Yang asked as he thought back to what his assistant and butler asked him today and he silently swore to god that if the two of them or anyone else had let their mouth run loose then he would personally deal with them.
Shaking her head, Shi denied anything like that. Seeing that Yang continued to interrogate her,
"Then, what happened Shi?''
The moment Shi heard Yang ask that, she bit her lips as she tried to think of what answer she should give him.
For sure, she cannot tell him that what housekeeper Ying had said earlier, reminded her of what her family had told her earlier, that is she was going to spend the rest of her life in self-blame then her mother's sacrifice will go in vain.
The truth is that even Shi hated herself. She hated herself for having to rely on medicines to sleep and put her mind at rest.
But the truth which still remains is that without them she would not be able to function properly, no one knew better than herself about how much she needed and relied on those pills.
Without them her, she had to spend her nights restlessly, too afraid to fall asleep for she knew exactly, which dream will embrace her the second she closes her eyes.
It was at those times that she truly felt weak and vulnerable.
When Yang saw the conflict and distress in her eyes, he stopped asking her as he quietly led her to the bed and made her sit down.
After making sure that she was properly sited, he too squatted near her feet as he held her small and soft palms in his big and rough ones, trying to pass some of his warmth to her cold body.
After a brief moment of silence which followed, Yang was the first one to talk.
"Do you wanna tell me what made you cry Shi?''
Upon hearing Yang, Shi looked down as she tried to avoid his gaze, she did not wish to tell him about her medication.
Perhaps it was only natural, for as a woman who loved Yang, Shi always wanted to appear strong and perfect in front of him.
She did not wish to show him how imperfect and broken she was, fearing that perhaps if he knew the truth, he would have a change of heart and will decide to leave her in order a find another lady.
A lady who was whole, who was not broken from the inside.
