Letting myself be tied with vines I grunt as the Dryad slaps me with her hand.
(Ow! The hell was that for?)
On the outside I silently glare at her feeling the pain on my cheek and in return she glares back.
With a pouty look on her face, she turns to my left with a "Hmph!"
I make an exasperated face again thinking.
(Why?)
Shaking my head I realized again that I really can't understand the thoughts of other people.
'Crunch.' 'Crunch.'
Breaking my thoughts I hear footsteps and then a voice.
"Luna who is this man?"
Turning my head I see the speaker.
Upon seeing him my eyes widen.
(It's a Silver Elf!)
In the game World of Illusions and Nightmares, most of the creatures are derived from the fantasy genre. Elves, Dragons, Beast men, Undead, Demons, etc.
The one universal thing that each race has is levels and classes, signifying their strength.
The first class when they reach level 20 would be their base class.
For example the generic classes Warrior, Magician, Summoner, Archer, Assassin, etc.
If you achieve more merits or achievements than your level then you can gain a better base class.
Like mine Blade, or Stalker, Ranger, Dancer, etc.
After that when you reach level 40 a word or an element or phenomenon would be placed before it adding more skills to each person. Fire Magician, Silent Assassin, Light Dancer.
Every ten levels beyond would slowly change the phenomenon or element to newer heights making you do crazy things like walking on air or creating a tsunami.
There were those in the level 90's that could create 1,000 swords and make them attack you.
(Those guys were annoying to kill.)
However, what makes this game so unfair is the bloodline trait. With a lucky birth, one can hop to level 30 and disregard the hard work other people put into it. On top of that for every ten levels, their increase in Stats and Class are way better than most.
And a Silver Elf is one of those with a one in million chance.
This makes me wonder how I have a bloodline that lets me have a level 50 Stats and class while being at level 1.
"I don't know, I thought that perhaps he may be an Invited but clearly he's not." With a displeased voice Luna, the Dryad replies.
"A Trespasser this deep in?" Astonished his voice raises and stares analyzing me while I'm sorting through my unfamiliar skills.
(Cold Mind lets me disregard things like fear of death but not other types of fear because I sure feel that right now. A good skill for a person who never experienced death and maxed out too. Seems too coincidental but right now I have to organize myself instead of pondering currently useless information.)
(Item Box hmm... Now I see... I have all of my weapons and stuff however I need to level up to access the more important items.)
(Mind Acceleration makes me think faster and Bound is really good for evasion an-)
"You, how did you come here."
Interrupting my thoughts I raise my head to see the Centaur pointing his white lance at me.
Thinking back in the absurd transition to another world I angrily reply, "How the hell would I know?"
The Centaur's eyes seem to smolder as he replies. "Nobody would not know if they came in this deep in the Avalon Forest so tell me again how did you come here." He comes closer and looks down, covering me with his shadow.
Taking a closer look at his gruff face with brown hair I see battle scars here and there accenting the intimidating aura he's giving off.
With the Dryad and Silver Elf being vigilant against me I carefully test the vines answering while I lower my tone, "I seriously don't know, one second I was in Caral Village and then when I went in the forest I appeared here."
"Caral Village? What is that? Do you not mean Fort Hatra?" This time Luna questions me with her expression puzzled. Beside her, the Silver Elf and Centaur are also making the same expression.
Dumbfounded I ask back, "Fort Hatra as in the abandoned Fort?"
The Centaur gives me a look that says 'are you stupid?' and arrogantly says "It is still standing."
My mind registered his words and expressions but dismissed them, as immediately my eyes widened in surprise.
I now know what Era I'm in.
(I'm in the Era of Legends!!!)
Some of the characters in TWIN are from real-life folktales and heroes with some variations.
For example King Arthur, Cu Cuchlain, Robin Hood, Achilles, etc.
On the flip side villains also appeared. Personas of the Joker, Loki, Darth Vader, Terminators.....
Yeah, just thinking about it sounds pretty bad.
I mean if a Terminator locked onto you it would literally stick onto you like glue until you die or it dies.
All of them were said to have originated from the Era of Legends which the old NPC's have hinted at, but even the beta players have said to have never been in that Era before, let alone me.
Players have always wondered whether there would be another like it, except over the years TWIN never updated the game other than the first time.
Fort Hatra was a famous abandoned Fort in which all the inhabitants disappeared. It would have not been strange if the Fort fell under siege, but not a single crack can be found in the castle walls.
Eerily standing still with not a single sound in it the mystery of the Fort was a hot topic among players.
Some speculated that a mass assassination was carried out from the demon or undead races.
Another thought the Elves had rebels inside and purged it making it stand as a warning to those in the future.
However, the debate sparked, even more, when a player posted a screenshot of a script from the Era of Legends on a stone wall which made players go crazy.
It said.
[The Fort has fallen. No walls were breached. No lives were taken. No sound was made. But the Fort has fallen. The Era of Legends will ——]
The rest was left unsaid as if the writer died, but the phrase Era of Legends WILL means that at the very least it was happening at that time.
(Now I know what Era I'm in so what to do... What to do.)
Focusing my gaze on the Centaur, Dryad, and Silver Elf I contemplate my choices.
