Drake fell to the floor, mouth dropped to the floor. Stunned, dumbfounded, perplexed, these words could not convey how he felt. But one thing he was sure about, he knew this wasn't a dream. How? His mother's divine presence stirred up something in his blood and he could feel it. It told him this was the truth. "I-what-how-... ", Drake stumbled to get his words out. His mother looked down at him, kneeling down to him and said, " yes, I am a goddess. And yes I understand your shock and confusion, so I will explain. "
After a while of Drake calling down, Miranda sat down with him to explain. "A long time ago, I ran across a mortal", Miranda started, " a peculiar mortal, one with no disregard for the gods. He and I crossed paths as I was aiding in a country's war. As the Goddess of War, it's my duty to help people out with their wars when they pray and ask for me. But, while I was ripping through the enemy forces, a lone warrior, from another part of Africa, allied with neither side, stepped up to me to challenge me". Drake looked at her and said, "that was Dad?! " Miranda nodded, then chuckled. "Yeah, a human picking a fight with a God, a God of war no less", she continued, " as a god, that felt disrespectful, and at the time, I was still a bit of a wild animal, so I attacked him. But, shockingly, he was holding his own, pushing me back a little at that. " Drake's eyes widen in awe and surprise. Miranda said, "it's worth bringing up, your father and his whole lineage have been blessed by the Yoruba Goddess of battle Oba and Haitian Goddess Mama Bridgette, which granted them use of Soul fire, as well as a sensitivity to the souls of the deceased and, important to the story, godlike attributes. That is why he was making me struggle. "
Drake looked at her with an amazed, but then asked, "wait, then don't that mean me, Ray, and Kenny have those powers? " "You would have, if we haven't sealed them when you three were born", she replied. " Oh? ", Drake said, sounding disappointed, but then he noticed something. " Wait, we? ", he said, to which Miranda, hand over mouth, eyes widen as she realized she said too much. " Fuck... ", she whispered under her breathe. Drake eyes narrowed at his mother. " Mother", Drake asked, "have more gods have kids in the modern era? " She looked away, remaining silent before looking back at him. Drake continued questioning her, "cuz I was the only planned birth, Ray was the result of a young couple not being careful and Kenny was a one-night stand unplanned pregnancy, so the other Egyptian Gods wouldn't have known about them or their moms, right? " He looks at Miranda with a questioning look, yet she remains quiet. ".... A story for another time, sweetie", she finally said.
She resumed her story. " Anyways, after a bit of fighting, I decided, for the first time in my life, to pull back and concede", she said, "though for some reason, I wasn't as angered as I should've been, rather I was fascinated. How does a human have the ability to fight back a God? I began looking for him after the war, curiosity taking over". Drake snickered at what she said. " Shut up, I know, curiosity killed the cat and I'm a feline, hah hah", she cut him off before he could form his mouth to say something, "Moving on...i eventually found him and to make a long story short, what started off as mild curiosity grew to love and he began developing feelings for me too. " "of course, I knew the other gods would not be too fond of me, a god, falling for and getting with a mortal, " she said, "so we decided that i would go to the mortal realm and settle down there, and we eventually had you". Drake responded, " but I assume they found out? "
"Oh yeah, we found out", a voice sounded out from the front door. Both Miranda and Drake turned and looked and say Drake's two aunts, Hailey and Jasmine. Miranda had a look of annoyance as she realized who it was. " Jasmine, Miranda's little sister, is a happy-go-lucky person who loves drinks and being lazy, which is why she owns a bar in town. And Hailey is Miranda's older sister, is the polar opposite of their youngest sister. She is a serious, cold, and strern woman, making it hard to know if she cares or is being a bitch. Jasmine, being her happy, bubbly self, joyfully says, "hey, nephew, hey sis". Drake responds with a " hey auntie " while Miranda simply raises her hand up. She is glaring at Hailey, as those two have always been at each other's throat. Hailey finally says, "Hey nephew, sorry to cut storytime short, but we need you back home in Egypt". Drake snapped his neck at her and said, " Egypt?! Why?!" Hailey responded, "because we need you to keep our divine connection to the mortal realm".
