Chapter 4 - My Mate?!

Axel smiled and extended his hand for me to take. Placing my hand in his he instantly pulled me into his arms. Every part of my body told me to get away from him but my wolf stopped me. She was, content. "So I was right." Axel released his grip and stepped back, "Your wolf will recognize their mate when you touch." His smile was warm and comforting, but my human brain was still confused. Axel is mate. My wolf huffed.

I took a few steps back. I just met him, there's no way he's my mate! I didn't know what to do. I heard Axel's foot steps and looked back up, he was walking towards me. 'No, no, no! This can't be happening. I can't let him get closer to me, we just met!' I didn't think twice, my wolf understood how I felt and I let her take over.

I shifted and my wolf was now in control. She snarled and bared her teeth. Axel got the message and stepped away from the window. My wolf took off in a run and jumped out of the window.

The classroom we'd been in was on the first floor so it was easy to jump out of without getting hurt. Forest? Home? My wolf huffed. I sat back and watched everything around me starting to blue as my wolf sped up. When I shift and let my wolf take over, I become like a backseat driver. Behind me is nothing but darkness but in front of me, is like a whole new world. Seeing out of my wolf's eyes are nothing compared to my enhanced vision. Although my eye sight is closer to a wolves, it's not the same thing.

You can go where ever you want to, as long as we don't get seen. I replied at last. I could feel my wolf getting excited at my reply. I smiled and thought to myself about how Dad was, and what he would think, Not to mention that I need a new uniform again.

See, whenever I shift, my clothes get ripped to shreds during the transformation. Necklaces are ok to leave on since they aren't tight fit so they'll fit the wolf too but clothes are a no go. I would normally take my clothes off before shifting but I didn't exactly have time earlier.

I closed my eyes for what felt like a few minutes but when I opened them, it was completely dark. I was back to a human with no response from my wolf except a light snore. Great, I have no idea where I am, what time it is and no clothes! I sniffed the air for any scent of humans, but all I got was rodents, grass and spruce.

I tried a few more times to wake my wolf but she was in a deep sleep. Great, I can't smell any humans near by but there are some walking trails near here. I'm on a gravel path that has a faint smell of humans and canines. My legs started moving and my body followed the very faint but fresh smell of humans.

Since it was night, it was colder but it didn't bother me that much. Wonder why humans are walking trails at night. I pushed the thought aside and continued running.

It took me awhile to settle down and take a breather when the wave of exhaustion hit me hard. Every muscle in my body was sore and aching. I knew that the pain would subside if I slept but the thoughts of earlier in the day kept me awake. It seemed so weird that there was other wolves but having one a my school was even weirder, but those thoughts were flushed out of my head just as a sat down and instantly dozed off.
