Chapter 4 - Finally, the Village

-Jack of Mammria

-Skills:

-Smoke bomb-Can teleport through air as far as user can see. The area around users original position goes up in smoke.

-Smokey Sight- User can see through disruptive surroundings and is heavily resistant to illusions

Jill of Mammria

-Skills:

-Ice field- Creates a field of ice around the user that they can manipulate at will

-Snow fall- Can cause snow blades to rain down in the immediate vicinity

-Combo Skill: The pail and the hill LOCKED(req. Average level 20)

-When Jill's Ice field meets Jacks smoke bomb users can trigger the combo skill, The pail and the hill, which will create an illusion of the opponent struggling to get up the hill and the only way out is to grab the pail.

Sweet Jesus, although they only have quite regular stats only around B grade their skills are sort of OP if used right.

F grade is for people who ended up with powers that a regular person would have reaching around 60 points in total for base stats.

D grade are for those who ended up with powers that are slightly above average. More like professional athletes. D grade total for base stats is around 500 points. Which is a pretty big jump in itself. The difference between D and F is almost 10 times. So in theory it would take 10 F grade beings to take down a D grade.

Now C grade is where it starts to get a little complicated. The total of base stats for C grade is only around 2k points in total. Which is only around 4 times D grade, but when you take into account skills and number of DNA slot into account 20 D grades might not be enough.

An F grade will only have a max of maybe 2 skills, D grade 5, C grade 10, B grade 12, A grade 15, S grade 25, and SS grade will have around 50 slots. While true they aren't all filled yet, but the difference in number of skill slots are enormous and they set apart the weak from the strong.

A B grade will have around 5k stat points in total while an A grade will have 7.5k. Now, there really isn't that much of a point for the B grade to be a thing as skill wise they are basically around C+ grade, and stat wise they are technically A- grade, but there are so many people in that grey area that there needed to be a classification so we just call them Bs.

S grade has a 10k stat point total and SS is anything above.

As I size them up I am also trying to figure out what to do with them. If I kill them I can have a random ability from each of their strands. I have to admit that is very tempting. I don't really care too much for the whole Icefield thing but, I would love the Smoke bomb as it would increase my mobility which I am sorely lacking.

" First, give me all of your Items." Before I make any decisions I need to analyze what I can use.

-Grousefs sword:

Str. 65%

Added effect: Each time the sword comes into contact with the opponent it disorients there sense of direction for a period of time.

Small chance effect: After continuous contact with opponent may cause total incapacitation and/or brain damage

-The Pail:

Storage device capable of carrying a square mile worth of stuff

Most of the items didn't really interest me only these two. The pail is more of a piece of jewelry that Jill carries on her neck. Which, will prove to be very helpful when collecting beasts corpses and miscellaneous Items.

And the sword is amazing not counting its effect the best sword I have used till now can only borrow around 50% of my total power. That's a difference of a whopping 15%. Considering I have a strength stat of 10k my average damage output would be about 6500. While its not 100% that's still enough to fight with.

Then the effect itself, well not much be said if you can't tell left from up, and right from forward how do you expect to when a fight. So I take the Items then we collect the goods and things from the bodies of the other dwarves. Now this next part collecting their blood I ask the dwarves to keep a look out as I activate the DNA refining function on my device.

-System Message:

-17 new strands refined

-17 strands have been loaded

As I looked through them I notice that 14 of them are basic fireball, which is one of the weakest of battle skills. I guess it makes sense, since dwarves are supposed to be masters of forging, that they have a majority of firepower even if these are low-grade war dwarves. Yet, I have only heard of its effects at level one, yet the lowest level for the ones the dwarves have are level 3. If what the system said is correct, I should be able to merge one to my dna and then use the rest to strengthen it. Hmph, sounds simple enough.

-Do you wish to merge the strand:

-Basic fireball level 10

-Yes

-No

"Wait. Boss don't do that you are being wasteful." Just as Grousef was about to say something Jill blurted out.

"Explain" I said flatly. I was kind of running out of patience as I have already spent so much time here. But, Grousef explained the whole situation to me quite quickly.

Apparently, If the strand of your DNA is a higher level than the dna used to strengthen it then the strands would only due just that. Yet, if your strand is a lower level then you have a chance of gaining the knowledge of the higher level strand user in relation to said strand. Also, it runs a chance of giving your strand an added effect or an extra stat.

So I merged with the level 3 strand immediately. Countless amounts of information ran through my mind and I could even visualize myself using the skill in battle. The difference between the level 3 version and the level one version isn't that wide as it still has its main flaw which isn't a high damage output but the fire rate has improved.

*DDDDDRRRRRiIIIINNNNNGGG*

It was done. Then I put the rest into the strengthening device in order from lowest to highest and sat down as the process began.

Battles flashed through my head as if nightmares as well as some miscellaneous forging knowledge. I could see so much information that my brain began to throb heavily. It was like a headache that constantly gained strength. My skull seemed ready to pop from all the pressure. Maybe I shouldn't have done them all at once. I could feel my eyes get heavy as I slowly drifted away from consciousness.

*DDDDDRRRRRiIIIINNNNNGGG*

I awoke to the sound of the device going off but no more headache.

-System Message:

-Host level shall remain one as only one skill is above zero

- Basic fireball level 4

- Basic fireball level 5

- Basic fireball level 6

- Basic fireball level 7

- Basic fireball level 7

- Basic fireball level 8

- Basic fireball level 8

- Basic fireball level 9

- Basic fireball level 9

- Basic fireball level 9

- Basic fireball level 10 Max

-Do you wish to evolve skill basic fireball or do you wish to limit break?

-System Message:

-New Function

-Skill evolution-

User may evolve skill into a more powerful skill

Ex. for this case next evolution would be minor flame thrower, or minor incineration wave, or basic laser

-Skill merging-

May merge a skill together to make a stronger more effective skill

-Limit breaking-

May remove the limits of a skill to further enhance it

Decisions, Decisions, and this one is difficult. I don't really rely on my MP that much but having an auxiliary skill like basic fireball would come in handy. I would evolve it but each of the paths sacrifice fire rate for things I don't need right now.

Flamethrower sacrifices its quickdraw for a more spread out attack. Incineration sacrifices quick draw and fire rate for AOE and temperature. Basic laser sacrifices quick draw and burn damage for penetration. I don't even look at merging as I need time to sit down an analyze merging as the 2 skills used in the merger are auto erased. So, that only leaves limit breaking.

-Limit breaking:

- You may add in the last three basic fireballs for limit breaking.(all excess material will be used to auto-strengthen the new product)

-Congratulations you have unlocked:

-Intermediate fireball level 3

Finally, its done. Only 1 second cast for a barrage of at most 30 fireballs that do 20% of my strength as damage per cast plus burn damage. Beautiful, just beautiful. With the new skill finally complete and ready to go I save the other strands and functions to look over once I get to the village.

Back on the road. The journey extended far past what I expected due to the dwarves tiny legs but they made it more lively. I also spoke to my father and updated him on my experiences and what I have learned. It was very lucrative info especially considering the growth of the city and the clan.

As we finally arrive we are met with the sounds of fighting. In front of the village there is a chaotic fight between a pack of wolves with orange fur and what looks to be the villagers. The wolves attacks are all coordinated and they are using their numbers and coordination to wear the villagers down.

The villagers look pretty dire. The main fighting force is made up of around 20 D grade fighters, 2 C grade and an A grade. Wait, an A grade fighter? No wonder this village could last so long. But, under this assault were most of the wolf pack are C and B grade with an A grade alpha. It's a wonder how they have stayed alive so long.

Then I notice a bright light shining off of the makeshift militias armor dimming. Then the A grade fighter yells something and then the lights luster is restored, seemingly healing the fighters. This led to the A grade fighter becoming more sluggish. Hmmm, maybe I should help now or they might really lose.
